Part of planning for retirement is determining how you'll handle healthcare issues. One issue that may slip under your radar is telehealth. At one time, only a small group of Medicare recipients had access to telehealth services. That changed at the height of the pandemic, when telehealth was offered to nearly all Medicare recipients via audio-video or audio-only. It also included a wider range of practitioners, like physicians, nurse practitioners, and therapists. The expansion was of great benefit to Medicare patients who lacked transportation or were too ill to get to a medical facility. It was also helpful to patients who were caregivers themselves and had trouble getting someone else to step in for them long enough to see a doctor. The pandemic-era telehealth rules were set to expire in late 2025, although some were temporarily restored through Jan. 30, 2026. As might have been expected, this was not welcome news for many Medicare recipients. Continue reading

mustafaU/iStock via Getty Images Introduction The YieldMax MSTR Option Income Strategy ETF ( MSTY ) is a fund that aims to provide weekly income for investors by selling call options or call spreads on Strategy ( MSTR ). This allows investors in the fund to capture premiums for income while participating in some of the upside and appreciation of MSTR. See below for details of the fund, from the website . YieldMax MSTY is a buy because it provides consistent income for investors and limits the raw exposure to MSTR, which is a volatile name that experiences heavy swings due to Bitcoin swings. Below, we will outline some recent news and highlights of the underlying company, MSTR. Recent news that impacts MSTR The firm remains steadfast throughout the swings that have occurred in Bitcoin Despite all of the ups and downs that Bitcoin investors have faced over the past few months, MSTR and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor remain bullish on the currency long term. Just last week, the firm disclosed a purchase of BTC in the form of 2,486 new coins for a total of $168.4M. See the image below from MSTR that highlights their recent purchases as well as their overall cost basis. Strategy As you can see, the firm’s average cost basis on BTC is $76K, which for now remains above the current prices of BTC at around $66.7K. This delta is where Saylor and the people who believe in the mission of MSTR can argue that on a long-term basis, these swings in the currency, and therefore the stock, are meaningless and do not dilute the overall thesis. MSTR is becoming more of a financial engineering company The firm, late last year, announced a pivot of its maturity based convertible debt into perpetual preferred stock, which should help to reduce its future ongoing refinancing risk and dampen credit-based volatility across its balance sheet. The firm offers “perpetual dividends” in the form of 4 different instruments: Stride, Stretch, Strike, and Strife. These sum to combined annual divide...

The total value of all cryptocurrencies in circulation peaked at $4.4 trillion in late 2024, and it has since plummeted by 45% to just $2.4 trillion as I write this, with the declines accelerating over the last few months. None of the major tokens or coins have escaped the carnage, not even those with genuine use cases that are supposed to drive real value. Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) is the native cryptocurrency in a unique network with the same name, which was launched in 2020 as a cheaper, faster, and more capable version of the Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) network. A growing number of developers use the Solana platform to build decentralized applications, which are popular in industries like gaming and finance. Solana is currently down 67% from its 52-week high. In theory, its value should increase as more people use its network, which means the recent sell-off might be a solid long-term buying opportunity. Shinsei Motions/iStock via Getty Images Over the past few months, the market has treated software-as-a-service-related stocks ( IGV ) like they are on the verge of going extinct. Not even the mighty Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Palantir ( PLTR ) could escape the market's negativity: Data by YCharts The issue has not been economic weakness, interest rate shocks, or even fundamental weakness in these companies. Rather, the narrative has shifted to software companies benefiting from and being the primary developers and implementers of AI to these very software companies being disrupted and even displaced by AI due to concerns that AI's incredible coding capabilities will cause numerous startups to launch that will destroy SaaS company margins and, in some cases, drive them completely out of business. In particular, Anthropic's Claude Co-Work solution has shown that autonomous agents can execute workflows with little to no human intervention, thereby creating concerns that, as this technology advances, companies will be able to completely bypass software solutions in various corporate workflows and processes. This resulted in over $1 trillion worth of software market cap being destroyed in the first week of February alone. Yes, the fear is understandable, but that fear has also created a tremendous opportunity for investors who are able to identify quarters of the software market where the risks are not nearly as high as the narrative suggests. In this article, I will detail why I believe the SaaS-pocalypse sell-off is creating a very attractive risk-adjusted way to invest in the software industry right now without directly owning SaaS equities that stand to lose the most from AI disruption. Instead, I believe investing in high-quality BDCs ( BIZD ) that have strong track records of investing in primarily first-lien senior secured loans to durable mission-critical software businesses with low loan-to-values is the best way to invest right now, thanks to them trading down shar...
