ablokhin/iStock Editorial via Getty Images The VistaShares Target 15 Berkshire Select Income ETF ( OMAH ) invests in Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK.B ), and in some of the largest holdings of the same, and writes covered calls on some of these. OMAH's strategy generates a substantial amount of premiums and income, resulting in a massive 14.3% distribution yield, but significantly limits upside potential. OMAH has significantly outperformed since its inception, less than a year ago, as Berkshire has seen meager gains since, not sufficient enough to compensate for OMAH's massive distributions. Although OMAH's strategy has worked quite well in the past, I'm not so bullish on the fund. A covered call Berkshire Hathaway ETF seems like a solution in search of a problem, and an expensive one at that, with a 0.95% expense ratio. In my opinion, investors interested in these strategies would do best implementing them themselves to save on fees and to have a better handle on the options themselves. As such, I would not be investing in OMAH. OMAH - Strategy and Overview As per OMAH's managers, the fund offers investors a core equity portfolio that generally mirrors the 20 largest holdings of Berkshire Hathaway, as well as investing in the company directly, while generating income through writing options. The direct investment in Berkshire Hathaway seems simple enough, with said position accounting for 10.6% of the portfolio right now. The equity portfolio mirroring Berkshire Hathaway also seems simple enough. The only thing I would mention here is the fact that weights do vary a bit here, adding a small layer of active management to the fund, with some potential to outperform or underperform Berkshire. If you compare OMAH's biggest holdings: OMAH With those of Berkshire directly: CNBC You'll notice lots of small differences in weights and relative positions. As an example, excluding Berkshire itself, Occidental Petroleum ( OXY ) is OMAH's third-largest holding, sixth-largest for Berk...

sankai/E+ via Getty Images Investment Thesis The stock price collapse of The Trade Desk, Inc. ( TTD ) in the last 12 months, with two-thirds of its market cap having now disappeared, is one of the most contrarian bets of the moment. Momentum couldn’t be any worse, but the art of investing is also the ability to catch falling knives, especially when they are falling beyond any justifiable level. Data by YCharts The Trade Desk continues to relentlessly show growth and profitability with the latest Q3 report, and I am convinced the Q4 report will once and for all provide the necessary assurance to the investors. The stock reached a peak in December 2024 at $139 per share and has since dropped to $25 per share, which I believe is one of those lifetime opportunities in the stock market. Business Overview and Reason for Sell-Off The Trade Desk is the world’s largest DSP (Demand-Side Platform) for advertising, with its one self-service cloud-based platform for advertising agencies and brands to build their ads. Essentially, the advertising and brands can build ad campaigns based on transparent data availability. The Trade Desk contrasts with Google’s or Meta’s ad campaigns that rely on their hidden databases and which ads can only run within their environments (primarily on Google Search for Google ( GOOG ) and on Facebook or Instagram for Meta ( META )). One of the main listed competitors of The Trade Desk is the DSP of Amazon ( AMZN ), but the total addressable market has been sufficiently large in the past years to allow their coexistence, together with a few other major non-listed players, with The Trade Desk continuing to show double-digit growth rates. So what exactly happened for the market cap to collapse, and is it justified? The Trade Desk was historically priced as a typical growth tech stock trading at a PE above 60x and revenue growth around 30% per year, as per the 5-year averages on Seeking Alpha . The growth has decelerated to 18% per year, which is still v...

Uncertainty about corporate spending on generative artificial intelligence (AI) continues to weigh on stocks. As markets remain rocky, long-term investors may want to take advantage of the turbulence by buying blue chip dividend stocks on weakness. Even with just a small amount of starting capital, you can begin building a portfolio that compounds for decades to come. Dividend stocks , particularly dividend-growth stocks, can serve as a strong foundation for a long-term portfolio. The steady gains from their respective payouts help to provide a solid baseline for returns. Continue reading

Amb. Huckabee Claims Israel Has 'Biblical Right' To Conquer Whole Middle East In a jaw-dropping exchange with Tucker Carlson, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee openly framed Israel's territorial claims in biblical terms - suggesting the Jewish state has a divine mandate over virtually the entire region. Asked whether a passage from the Book of Genesis could be read as granting Israel the right to claim all the land between Egypt's Nile River and Syria's Euphrates, Huckabee didn't hedge. He bluntly and without apology said it would be "fine" if Israel and its military took over the whole Middle East . Full interview can be accessed here: The Mike Huckabee interview, and the truth about America’s deeply unhealthy relationship with Israel. This led to a wide ranging conversation and back and forth over whether the modern nation-state of Israel, officially founded as a sovereign government on May 14, 1948, is synonymous with the Israel written about in the Old Testament, stretching back thousands of years. Here's how that contentious segment of the interview unfolded, according to a transcript and commentary : Huckabee was asked in an interview with US conservative commentator Tucker Carlson about his understanding of a biblical verse suggesting that land including parts of Egypt, Syria and Iraq had been divinely promised to the Jewish people. Carlson said that according to the Old Testament, the boundaries would be “basically the entire Middle East.” He continued: “Does Israel have the right to that land?” “Not sure we’d go that far,” Huckabee said in reply. “It would be a big piec...

peterspiro/iStock via Getty Images Universal Health Realty Income Trust ( UHT ) will report Q4 earnings soon. Seeing their 7% yield, I wanted to look and see if they make for good income. Given their durable portfolio of medical properties, I think they do, and I rate this one a pretty safe Buy. Business Model UHT manages a portfolio of hospitals and other properties related to the medical industry. These include 77 individual properties, broken down as reported in their latest Form 10Q : 6 hospitals 4 emergency departments 61 medical office buildings ("MOBs") 4 preschool/childcare centers 2 vacant properties Map of Property Locations (UHT Investor Relations Page) These properties are located in several states across the U.S., reflecting some level of geographic diversification. Net leases are generally used for hospitals, emergency departments, childcare properties, and single-tenant MOBs. These leases put the costs of site maintenance, investment, and renovation onto the operator. For the multi-tenant MOBs, UHT instead assumes these costs directly. A large portion of revenue is attributable to one operator: Universal Health Services ( UHS ). UHS Revenues (Q3 2025 Form 10Q) This owes to the fact that UHT originally spun off from UHS in the 1980s, acquiring the real estate assets over time through sale-leasebacks and similar transactions. UHT has the role lessee to subsidiaries of UHS on 14 properties through ground leases. This reflects something of a peculiar relationship, wherein UHT collects building rent from UHS but pays ground rent to UHS. Moreover, when a ground lease matures, ownership of all buildings and improvements made by the ground lessee goes to the ground lessor. Ground leases typically span several decades for this reason. Balance Sheet (Q3 2025 Form 10Q) Curiously, most of their long-term debt to finance their real estate acquisition isn't through mortgages. Instead, they rely on their line of credit with Wells Fargo ( WFC ). While bank debt is us...

Getty Images Celanese Corporation ( CE ) is a specialty chemical company in the materials sector of the economy. It recently came to my attention that it has changed from a stock that has been trending lower for the past 20 months to a stock that now has started to trend higher. In this article I will discuss the recent earnings release and outline the bullish case for CE using my technical analysis methodology. As mentioned, CE announced its earnings last Tuesday after the market closed. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.91 per share and revenues of $2.25B. The actual results were $0.67 per share and revenues of $2.21B. You would think that such a miss on EPS would have caused the stock to sell off considerably, but that is not what happened. More on the price action of CE later in this article. A couple of takeaways from the recent earnings call that I found interesting were as follows. Free cash flow generation was prioritized on the most recent earnings call. Celanese is looking at $650-$750 million in free cash flow for the next fiscal year. They produced $773 million in free cash flow for 2025. Such free cash flow allows them to pay down debt, reinvest in the business, pay the dividend, etc. Another takeaway from the call is that CE is looking to divest some of its business lines in 2026 and 2027. Celanese is looking to divest $1 billion of business lines by the end of 2027. The company plans to use that money to strengthen its balance sheet. They divested their Micromax business line in 2025 and are looking at other options such as their numerous joint ventures. Looking forward, the company expects it to be favorably positioned when demand increases. They feel that their focus on deleveraging their balance sheet and improving their Engineered Materials and Acetyl Chain business lines puts them in a positive position as demand increases. Another item that intrigues me, which has nothing to do with earnings, is that the CFO recently bought some shares on t...
