Matthew Nichols/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Previewing AMC's Upcoming Earnings Report Since my only article on AMC Entertainment Holdings ( AMC ), which came out in late July 2023, the stock has gone on to lose over 97%, burning those who missed the chance to cash out on the spike at the time. Dilution eroded the value massively, and it looks like there's no way out of the continuous equity offerings that pushed AMC's market cap lower. The firm is set to report its Q4 FY2025 results on February 24, 2026, and while management said on the last call that there's a 2026 theatrical super-cycle and that AMC is undergoing operational changes to drive better efficiency, I don't think there's a turnaround story here to watch. I'd not buy AMC stock ahead of its upcoming earnings report because the fundamental setup doesn't look much different from what I observed in mid-2023. Why Do I Think So? What's been driving the stock lower is the constant dilution. Among the latest events, we see that on February 9, 2026, the firm filed a prospectus supplement to sell up to $150 million of Class A common stock on an ATM basis. In general, from 2020 through early 2026, AMC's shares outstanding increased by more than 508 million on a split-adjusted basis, and it looks like there's no end in sight to this dynamic. Data by YCharts The new offering includes a master confirmation for collared forward transactions with Goldman Sachs International, and while this structure suggests that AMC wants to minimize price risk, I think it also points to the firm's immediate liquidity needs, as it's in the midst of a seasonally weak Q1 2026. AMC is still struggling to recover from what its business went through during the pandemic. During 2016-2019 , AMC was generating $200-300 million in operating profits, and after an operating loss of over $1.5 billion in FY2020, AMC is currently barely turning any positive operating income. In FY2023 and FY2024, it generated $32.9 million and a negative $8.7 ...

Throughout the bull market for tech and artificial intelligence (AI) of the past few years, semiconductor stocks have been the leaders. That narrative has changed in 2026 as investors grow more concerned about how much money is being spent on AI development and whether valuations have become stretched too far. Semiconductor ETFs still aren't too far off all-time highs, but it looks like momentum has clearly shifted away from tech and growth stocks. That doesn't mean this group can't keep moving higher, but it does mean investors need to be pickier about where they put their money. With valuations historically elevated and growth rates starting to decline, selection may be more important now than it has been in years. That's why I believe there's a real difference right now in choosing between two exchange-traded funds: the iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ: SOXX) and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ: SMH) . It's enough of a difference that I think one is worth buying and one is worth staying away from. Continue reading

Cocoa rose in New York, cutting another large weekly slump driven by too much supply as traders held off purchases and beans piled up in West African warehouses. Futures rose as much as 3.1% on Friday, after holding below a technical level since last week that suggested the market became oversold. Prices are still down about 15% this week after reaching the lowest since mid-2023. Since hitting a record in 2024 following poor harvests, cocoa has slumped roughly 75% as supplies improved and demand from consumers and traders weakened. In the last few months, low global prices and limited forward selling from West Africa created a liquidity squeeze across the supply chain, with farmers struggling to sell their beans. Ghana, the second-biggest grower, last week cut its farm-gate price to better align with the global market rout. Top grower Ivory Coast hasn’t yet lowered the price it pays farmers. Read More: Cocoa’s Boom and Bust Is Rewriting Long-Held Rules of the Market “The market has come under heavy pressure this past week on reports of heavy supplies of beans going unsold in Ivory Coast and Ghana because buyers are reluctant to pay official farm-gate prices, which are much higher than the current world price,” ADM Investor Services said in a note on Thursday. Friday’s price gain snapped an eight-day losing streak. New York cocoa’s 14-day relative-strength index remains below 30, a level that can suggest that prices have dropped too far, too fast. Read More: Ecuador’s Cocoa Boom Is Quietly Changing the Global Supply Map Cocoa rose 2.2% to $3,126 a ton in New York. London cocoa gained 2.4%. In other soft commodities, arabica coffee edged up. Raw sugar rose 0.9%.

Luis Alvarez/DigitalVision via Getty Images I wrote about GitLab ( GTLB ) before with a bullish tilt, supported by the company’s strong DevSecOps positioning and early traction AI features. Basically, GitLab was taking advantage of the consolidation in the enterprise toolchain consolidation trend while improving its operating leverage. The market has been merciless on the company since the “ AI will kill SaaS and copilots will be commoditized” narrative gained traction. The company is attempting to graduate from a DevSecOps tool to a system of record plus orchestration layer company. GitLab is basically assuming that the game won’t be won by the best code completion tool, but rather by those who can provide end-to-end systems that can secure work and validation within. The task at hand is to graduate from a commoditized copilot to a production software platform that’s governance-friendly. The question here is whether the market is punishing the business or if it is just punishing the multiple while the business keeps compounding. What GitLab is GitLab basically sells a DevSecOps platform , stretching from source control to security and compliance. The key here is the agents; they pull the heavy work. They can feed on context and create efficient production software. However, the problem here is the chain of custody. Why does the process exist? Has it passed controls? Does it create meaningful risks? These are all questions that need to be addressed in order to have software production at scale that also carries an audit trail. This is the difference between suggesting a couple of lines of code or having agents really taking action with enterprise-grade safety. GitLab This basically tells us that coding is just a small part of the software production cycle. The real bottlenecks are in the planning, review, and control phases of the cycle. For GitLab to successfully go from an assist tool to an orchestration platform, it will need to be reliable at providing things th...

Economic growth cooled near the end of 2025, according to data released Friday that could push the Federal Reserve into lowering interest rates. Gross domestic produce rose at an annualized rate of just 1.4%, according to Commerce Department numbers adjusted for seasonality and inflation. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for a 2.5% gain. At the same time, inflation held firm in December, according to the gauge most closely watched by Fed officials. The core personal consumption expenditures price index, which excludes food and energy, rose 3% in December, according to a separate release. That matched the consensus forecast but kept the pivotal inflation measure well above the Fed's 2% target. This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates .
