bizoo_n/iStock Editorial via Getty Images By Ezequiel Gomes Ether ( ETH-USD ) drifted lower on Thursday as a softer tone in global equities and a firmer dollar kept traders cautious, leaving the token struggling to regain the $2,000 handle after repeated failed pushes this week. Price action stays tethered to cross-asset cues Reuters reported on February 19, 2026 at 1:56 AM UTC that ethereum fell 1.07% to $1,920.86 as U.S. stocks dipped and the dollar extended gains following mixed economic data. That backdrop matters for ether because it has traded like a high-beta risk proxy for much of this cycle, tending to lag when investors rotate away from momentum exposures and toward cash-like defensives. Volatility has cooled from earlier bursts, but the market still shows a “sell-the-pop” feel around round-number levels, with $2,000 acting more like a supply line than a launchpad. ETH price dynamics (January 2025-February 2026) (Source: TradingView) Traders also kept an eye on rate-sensitive positioning as Treasury yields edged higher, a combination that can tighten financial conditions at the margin and pressure duration-like assets, including large-cap crypto. Headlines add asset-specific friction alongside macro Beyond macro, Bloomberg reported on Feb. 18, 2026 at 6:03 AM UTC (updated 12:24 PM UTC) that billionaire investor Peter Thiel’s entities exited ETHZilla Corp. ( ETHZ ), a company framed around ether treasury exposure, according to an SEC filing. That kind of single-name story does not mechanically dictate spot ETH pricing, but it can influence sentiment around “ETH-treasury” narratives and leverage appetites - especially when broader risk tone is already fragile. Market participants also continue to watch the pipeline of U.S. regulatory and market structure headlines that can shift crypto correlations quickly, from stablecoin policy debates to exchange enforcement updates, even when they are not Ethereum-specific. At the same time, the absence of a clean catal...

Get up to speed with key market intelligence, news and insight before trading starts each day in this fast-growing economy with the Markets Daily India newsletter. Sign up here . UPL Ltd. , one of the world’s largest generic crop-protection suppliers, is counting on a seeds-unit listing and tighter execution to rebuild investor confidence after a debt-fueled expansion collided with a downturn in crop-chemical prices. The Mumbai-based company is preparing for an initial public offering of Advanta Enterprises Ltd. to pare borrowings from its $4.2 billion purchase of Arysta LifeScience Ltd. in 2019. The deal expanded UPL’s global footprint but weakened the balance sheet as farm incomes and agrochemical prices weakened. With crop-protection prices still under pressure globally, the company’s investors are watching if asset sales, capital discipline, and supply-chain flexibility can lighten the debt burden without hurting growth. “The top-line growth in the near term isn’t as important as improving EBITDA and cash generation,” Mike Frank , Chief Executive Officer of UPL Corporation , said in an interview. EBITDA refers to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. “We have repositioned the business around cash generation and supply-chain flexibility, treating the industry slowdown as structural rather than cyclical.” The measures appear to be working. Net debt fell to 233 billion rupees ($2.6 billion) as of Dec. 31, improving the net-debt-to-EBITDA ratio to 2.5 times from 3.8 times a year earlier, according to the company. While ratings firms including Fitch Ratings have revised the outlook on the company to stable from negative, UPL’s leverage remains elevated compared with peers. And despite distressed assets appearing in the crop-protection sector globally, UPL says it won’t pursue large acquisitions. “Some still worry we’re going to go on an acquisition binge, but we are focused on deleveraging,” Frank said. Another critical factor for the compan...

Tinnakorn Jorruang/iStock via Getty Images Innovative Industrial Properties ( IIPR ), a cannabis REIT that's also diversifying into life sciences investments, is a stock I've been following loosely for a few years now. After checking that its dividend yield has reached 16.5% and that it's trading well under its book value (0.7x), I became intrigued. But I still don't think the stock is a clear Buy right now. IIPR is highly profitable, but its AFFO per share has dipped in the past few quarters because some of its tenants have defaulted. Until marijuana gets rescheduled from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule III drug (the timing of this is uncertain), IIPR's tenants are going to feel the heat of tight regulations and high taxes. I rate IIPR stock as a Hold. The valuation is good, but the stock could stay range-bound for now while the company (and the industry in general) deals with regulatory problems. I also think that its choice to diversify into life sciences is a good move, but as of Q3, it wasn't a big enough part of the business (4.5% of total annual income) to really move the needle. Not to mention, a dividend cut is possible because its dividends aren't covered by AFFO anymore, and it could happen as soon as the next quarterly report, which is coming up on February 23. I think the prudent move is to wait for more clarity after the report. On the other hand, Innovative Industrial Properties' preferred shares ( IIPR.PR.A ) look like a great bet at today's prices. They've come down a lot lately and are now trading under their redemption price and yielding 9.7%. Since IIPR has low debt, lots of assets, and high profitability, the preferred shares should be relatively safe, making the high-yield worth it. So, here's my verdict: I say hold the common shares, buy the preferred shares instead. Why IIPR Is Just A "Hold" Investors can say that IIPR stock is a Buy because the valuation is very low now and that it's only a matter of time before cannabis rescheduling happens...
