Joe Hendrickson/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Although I often cover retail REITs and invest in some, today I'm taking a slightly different angle by writing about an actual retail brand, and that is DICK'S Sporting Goods ( DKS ), whose brand focuses on sporting goods equipment, fitness equipment, golf equipment, fishing gear products, and apparel. Considering their next earnings result comes out on March 12th, about a month away, this is an opportune time to review this stock holistically. Interestingly, it seems to have beat several recent quarterly earnings estimates, and it only dropped around 2% or so during Thursday's huge market selloff, while some other stocks sunk over 15%. So, today's article also takes a closer look at the potential for retail in 2026. Thesis Summary: Bullish My article today calls this stock a buy, driven by several factors including macro resilience and strong competitive positioning in its space, as well as growth within its brand concepts and a major acquisition, but also future upside potential in relation to valuation. This is despite technical indicators that are somewhat less bullish. My worksheet below summarizes what factors contributed to the score: DKS - Rating Worksheet (Author's Calculations) Keep reading to learn more about each section and what drove my view. Additionally, Deloitte conducted a survey of retail executives for 2026 and the majority seemed to expect YoY revenue growth and increased operating margins this year: Deloitte - Retail Survey 2026 (Deloitte) Both of these ou...
