During an earnings call with analysts, CEO Chris Rogers , who took the helm last year, called the concerns "overblown" and said the company monitors threats "extremely closely." "There is definitely a market for us here and we feel good about our points of differentiation," he said. Instacart is facing an increasingly competitive market as retailers like Amazon and food platforms such as Uber Eats and Doordash aggressively scale in grocery delivery. At the same time, the company is investing in new technology and artificial intelligence tools to drive more customers and businesses to its platform. Wall Street analysts viewed Instacart's results as a wave of confidence for those worried about the company's moat. Analysts at Bernstein called the report a "solid rebuttal" to competitive pressures and AI threats. "The clean beat-and-raise has been rare this internet earnings cycle and CART stands out from that perspective," wrote analysts at Barclays. Bambu Productions/DigitalVision via Getty Images Mowi ASA ( MHGVY ) ( MNHVF ) reported 4Q25 results , commenting on what was a challenging year in terms of pricing and margin (salmon downcycle), but positive in terms of volume and costs. The company expects 2026 to be an upcycle year for salmon, with more restrained supply and positive demand. Mowi expects to continue expanding, at least 8% next year in harvest, supported by the acquisition of Nova Sea. Overall, I think the name continues to show a quality position in salmon. However, perhaps in anticipation of the 2026 upcycle, or because the EUR has appreciated against the USD, the company's stock price has increased versus my previous coverage. On a cyclical-average basis, I do not believe it is particularly attractive at current prices and maintain a Hold rating. 4Q25 results When I last analyzed Mowi in August 2025, the situation in salmon markets was one of more pressured demand (tariff fears, European macro challenges) at the same time as supply was expanding because of cyclical climatic reasons. This proved to be the case in FY25, with significantly pressured margins for Mowi. Salmon supply expanded 12% YoY. Demand, however, was very resilient, particularly at the end of the year, closing the YoY at 8% (with Asia up 30%, the US up 10%, and Europe up 6%). The overall effect was pressured prices, which fortunately recovered to +4% YoY in Europe, thanks to more moderate growth expectations coming from Norway (0% in Q4 and LSD expected for next year, according to the call ). We should remember that most of Mowi's market is in Europe (75% of sales), with a little more in the Americas (US and Brazil mainly) at 17%. Europe was one of the regions with the highest supply increment and the lowest demand expansion. In the Americas trade portion, the appreciation of the EUR made Norwegian and European production lose competitiveness (costs are in EUR, revenues in USD). The remaining portion of the Americas trade comes f...

On Thursday, Anthropic announced it secured $30B in new funding at a $380B valuation. The US Supreme Court scheduled Feb. 20 as its next opinion day amid a global wait for a ruling that could invalidate most of President Donald Trump ’s signature tariffs. The justices also are expected to issue opinions on Feb. 24 and 25 as the court returns from a four-week recess. The tariff clash is one of 12 cases that were argued in October or November and haven’t yet been decided. The disputed tariffs are costing importers more than $16 billion every month, according to federal government data. At that rate, the total collected under the law at the center of the case, the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act, could surpass $170 billion by Feb. 20, according to Bloomberg Economics analyst Chris Kennedy . A ruling against Trump would deliver his biggest legal defeat since returning to the White House. The court is considering Trump’s April 2 “Liberation Day” tariffs, which placed levies of 10-50% on most imports, along with duties imposed on Canada, Mexico and China in the name of addressing fentanyl trafficking. The new opinion day comes amid signs that Congress is starting to push back against the tariffs. The Republican-led House on Wednesday voted to end some levies on Canadian imports, approving legislation to dissolve the emergency declaration that provided the legal basis for them. Trump declared in a 2025 executive order that fentanyl trafficking across the northern border was an emergency that warranted the imposition of tariffs. If the tariffs are struck down, the White House has said it will quickly replace them using other legal tools, though Trump has acknowledged the alternatives would more cumbersome. The Supreme Court heard arguments Nov. 5 on an expedited basis, setting a schedule that suggested an ultra-fast ruling might be in the offing. Some close watchers of the court predicted a decision could come in a matter of weeks, rather than the usual months. Key justices suggested during the argument that they thought Trump had oversteppe...

Scotland boast strong recent Calcutta Cup record England have not won at Murrayfield since 2020 Maro Itoje has called on England to be “bulletproof” as they seek to clinch a first win at Murrayfield in six years on Saturday. England can keep their grand slam pursuit alive by successfully defending the Calcutta Cup and Itoje has urged his side to create their own history despite their recent wretched form in Edinburgh. With England on a 12-match winning streak and Scotland suffering a shock defeat by Italy last week, Steve Borthwick’s side are clear favourites. Their only victory at Murrayfield since Eddie Jones’s first game in charge in 2016 came in miserable weather in 2020, however, with Scotland securing victories in 2022 and last time out in 2024. Goldman Sachs believes that fears around AI disruption and slower-than-expected Azure growth are overstated and the recent pullback has created a buying opportunity for Microsoft shares. The bank stood by its buy rating on the "Magnificent Seven" stock and its 12-month price target of $600. Goldman's forecast implies that the tech titan could rise more than 49%. Microsoft has plunged 17% since the start of 2026, suffering in the broader pullback away from technology stocks as fears of artificial intelligence disruption have intensified. Shares had tumbled 10% after the company reported its most recent earnings, with investors unimpressed by 39% revenue growth at Azure and its other cloud services. The pace of growth was lower than the 40% it achieved in the fiscal first quarter and was slightly below the 39.4% StreetAccount consensus analyst forecast. MSFT YTD mountain MSFT YTD chart Goldman Sachs analyst Gabriela Borges wrote that Microsoft has in total stumbled 15% since its earnings report, in part due to upward revisions to its capital expenditures guidance without upward revisions to Azure. This, she wrote, resurfaced questions about Microsoft's return on investments and Azure's competitive positioning relative to its peers. The analyst added that Azure growth in any given quarter is largely a function of how much new compute capacity comes online and how Microsoft allocates that capacity between internal use cases and external customers. At present, Microsoft remains supply constrained, with incremental capacity increasingly directed towards internal users such as Copilot and R & T, rather than revenue-generating external workloads. As a result, Borges said that some of Microsoft's compute investments are not yet flowing through to reported Azure revenue, thereby contributing to near-term concerns around monetization. She assuaged investors' fears by stating that the lack of upward revisions to Azure was a simply byproduct of Microsoft choosing to prioritize i...
