French-Vietnamese filmmaker Tràn Anh Hùng (The Scent of Green Papaya) won Best Director at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for this study of a slow-simmering love affair between French gourmand Dodin (Benoît Magimel) and his cook, Eugénie (Juliette Binoche). They spend their days at Dodin’s country estate, dreaming up new dishes with which to wow his coterie of dining companions, who meet regularly to admire Eugénie’s artistry as well as her beauty. Hung’s unhurried camera savours every delicious morsel, but alas, even a nine-course meal cannot last forever. Saturday 14 February, 9.35pm, BBC Four Continue reading...

We Are/DigitalVision via Getty Images Investment Thesis Jackson Financial ( JXN ) mainly sells retirement annuities - financial policies that generate recurring income with various degrees of predictability, depending on the type of annuity purchased. I first highlighted the company as a value investment opportunity back in 2023 when shares traded at a P/B value of ~0.4x. A share buyback program offered a catalyst for the company's shares. Since then, JXN is up 296%, while total return is 348%. Despite this surge, shares are still undervalued. JXN has raised its distribution every year since going public as a standalone company in 2021, while also reducing the number of shares outstanding. Based on its low valuation, it will probably raise its dividend again this year. Data by YCharts Compared to the financial sector, JXN's 2.7% dividend yield isn't shabby. However, income-oriented investors might be interested in JXN's Series A Preferred Equity ( JXN.PR.A ), offering a higher and more predictable yield. JXN.PR.A isn't cumulative. However, since the preferreds have priority over the common shares in dividends, it is likely that JXN will maintain its preferred distribution unless a major credit event occurs. Maintaining a preferred dividend payout is also a signal to lenders of JXN's financial health, discipline, and commitment to meeting its obligations. Recent Performance and Outlook JXN is set to release Q4'25 results on February 18, 2026, after market close. The trajectory through September 2025 has been promising. The company is leaning on a new Registered Index-Linked Annuity that it says reduces the balance sheet burden and enhances profitability. The partnership with TPG expands market reach and investment portfolio diversification. Adjusted Operating Earnings rose by ~24% in Q3'25 to $433 million, up from $350 million in the same period of the prior year. The growth is commendable. The question is whether it is sustainable at this rate. Q3'25 growth was a st...

Q4 Metrics The company — which designs and sells gaming and streaming devices and components — saw its fourth quarter revenue climb about 6% year-over-year to $436.9M. For the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2025, adjusted EPS soared 87% year-over-year to $0.43. Both top and bottom line numbers surpassed analysts' estimates . "Successful new product launches, smart inventory management, coupled with our supply chain flexibility, enabled us to navigate a memory-constrained market, shifting trade regulations and tariffs to deliver 62% growth in Q4 2025 adjusted non-GAAP EBITDA (855% growth in Q4 2025 GAAP net income), significantly outperforming our 6% year-over-year revenue growth." said Corsair's CEO Thi La. In the fourth quarter, Gaming Components and Systems segment revenue grew over 11% year-over-year, led by 24% year-over-year growth in the company's memory business, with stable components and systems revenue. Fourth quarter Gamer and Creator Peripherals Segment revenue fell 3% year-over-year, driven mainly by lower demand in North America, which was offset by stronger performance internationally, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, according to Corsair. Corsair's CFO Gordon Mattingly noted that in 2025 the company reduced its debt by $52.1M. Stock Buyback The company said its board authorized it to buy back up to $50M of its common shares. This is Corsair’s first repurchase authorization, according to the company. The program is effective immediately and does not have an expiration date. "With this authorization, we now have additional flexibility to deploy our capital optimally – whether investing in organic growth, executing M&A, deleveraging the business, or returning capital to shareholders," said Mattingly. Outlook Corsair said that for the first quarter and full year 2026, it expects revenue to be down about 5% year-...
