United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) appears to have hit a key turning point in 2025 as it looks to revamp its business. Still, the stock fell around 20% last year. Even after rising off its lows, the stock is still down by roughly 50% from its 2022 highs. Is now the time to buy UPS stock? A huge spike in demand for package delivery during the coronavirus pandemic's height led investors to push UPS' stock price to lofty levels. When that demand spike faded, as the world grew accustomed to COVID-19, investors moved on to other trades, and UPS' stock began to fall. UPS made the situation worse by announcing plans for a major corporate overhaul. Image source: Getty Images. Continue reading

Homan Says Minnesota Immigration "Surge Operation" Is Over White House border czar Tom Homan said on Thursday that the Trump administration has made significant progress in Minnesota and will therefore end the immigration enforcement surge in the state. ICE agents stand at the scene where ICE agents fatally shoot a woman earlier in the day in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, on January 7, 2026. "I have proposed, and President Trump has concurred, that this surge operation conclude. A significant drawdown has already been underway this week and will continue into the next week," Homan said during a presser, adding that the admin had achieved an "unprecedented level of coordination" with state law enforcement officials. 🚨 BREAKING: Tom Homan announces ICE has located 3,364 unaccompanied alien children in Minnesota so far that the Biden regime wasn’t even LOOKING for Great job by ICE 👏 Biden and Mayorkas were complicit in the worst child traffcking operation in US history. pic.twitter.com/w99C2kSHTY — Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) February 12, 2026 Homan's announcement comes after acting ICE Director Todd Lyons announced on Tuesday that local police in Minneapolis are starting to arrest anti-ICE protesters . For weeks, Minneapolis had been a flashpoint. Demonstrators swarmed federal agents. Officers were filmed, heckled, and in some cases assaulted while trying to carry out what Lyons described as “targeted, intelligence-driven enforcement operation[s].” Instead of focusing on apprehending criminal illegal aliens, agents were stuck navigating angry crowds, something they weren’t trained to do. Either way, the left is chalking this up as another win - while shares of GEO tumble on empty jail cells and Pam Bondi smarts from yesterday's self-inflicted wounds. Here's Bloomberg 's spin: The Trump administration is retreating from its immigration-enforcement blitz in Minnesota, pulling back after more than two months of operations that left two US citizens dead, spurred ma...

400tmax/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Alphabet's ( GOOG ) ( GOOGL ) Google upgraded its Gemini 3 Deep Think across science, coding, research, and engineering. Google said that the new Deep Think is now available in the Gemini app for Google AI Ultra subscribers. The company added that for the first time it is making Deep Think available through the Gemini API to select researchers, engineers, and enterprises. Through the updated model, a user can turn a sketch into a 3D-printable reality. Deep Think analyzes the drawing, models the complex shapes, and generates a file to create the physical object with 3D printing, according to Google. "In addition to its state-of-the-art performance, Deep Think is built to drive practical applications, enabling researchers to interpret complex data, and engineers to model physical systems through code. Most importantly, we are working to bring Deep Think to researchers and practitioners where they need it most — beginning with surfaces such as the Gemini API," said the company in a blog post on Thursday. The updated Deep Think showed better performance across several academic benchmarks. The model set a new standard (48.4%, without tools) on Humanity’s Last Exam, a benchmark designed to test the limits of modern frontier models. The company noted that the model achieved an unprecedented 84.6% on ARC-AGI-2, a benchmark for reasoning tasks, verified by the ARC Prize Foundation. It also attained an Elo of 3455 on Codeforces, a benchmark consisting of competitive programming challenges. Last year the model achieved gold-medal standards at math and programming world championships. Besides mathematics and competitive coding, Gemini 3 Deep Think now also excels across broad scientific domains such as chemistry and physics, according to the company. The updated model also showed gold medal-level results on the written sections of the 2025 International Physics Olympiad and Chemistry Olympiad, the company noted. It showed proficiency i...

tap10/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Strategy ( MSTR ) has undergone one of the most dramatic corporate changes in recent financial history. The company started as a business‑intelligence software company and has since evolved into something very different: a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury firm. It has been some time since the company has traded on software fundamentals, competitive positioning, or enterprise‑SaaS metrics, among other aspects of that part of its business. While it still has that business, and it's not doing too bad, the performance metric of the company is solely based upon the price of Bitcoin. How Bitcoin goes, so goes Strategy. One of the things investors would be wise in considering is this: the transition to a Bitcoin treasury has attracted all the people that have very emotional views on the bull and bear outlook for Strategy. How they view Bitcoin is how they view strategy. How they emote over Bitcoin is how they emote over Strategy. I think the major reason for this, especially on the bear side, is a lot of retail investors bought near the top during a certain cycle or cycles, and when the trade went against them, they panic-sold and took huge losses. It's one thing to be a Bitcoin or Strategy bear based upon logic and reasoning. It's another thing to go on a negative attack with little or no data to back it up. In this article we'll look at why I believe Bitcoin and Strategy are going to rebound, and why positive sentiment will return - both for Strategy and Michael Saylor. Seeking Alpha Major Metrics to Watch With Bitcoin There are three key metrics to watch in regard to Bitcoin to get a feel for what's really happening during times of significant volatility. Having a grasp of these things will help to decide what's really happening under the engine, rather than the emotion that can accompany the wide swings in prices. They are forced liquidations, long-term HODLers, and Bitcoin ETF flows. These data points give a snapshot of how goo...

viper-zero/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Bank of America Securities on Thursday upgraded Huntington Ingalls Industries ( HII ) to Neutral from a previous investment rating of Underperform, citing strengthening fundamentals across the U.S. shipbuilding industry and rising Navy budgets that could offset lingering execution risks at the company’s shipyards. Analyst Ronald Epstein raised his price objective to $400 from $300, implying modest upside from recent levels. The higher target reflects a richer valuation multiple tied to what he described as a powerful macro backdrop for naval construction. Navy funding drives industry momentum Bank of America said expanding defense budgets are ushering in what it called a “golden age” for U.S. shipbuilding. The fiscal 2026 defense budget proposal includes $27.2 billion for 17 ships and additional funding to support the maritime industrial base and advance the Navy’s next-generation frigate program. Speculation that fiscal 2027 defense spending could exceed $1.2 trillion suggests shipbuilding programs will remain well funded, the report said. Against that backdrop, Huntington Ingalls ( HII ) is positioned to benefit as it secures a share of increased Navy procurement. Upcoming catalysts include awards for the Virginia-class Block VI submarines, progress on the new FF(X) frigate program and final decisions around a proposed Trump-class battleship. The firm also pointed to improving contract execution and efforts to resolve legacy, pre-pandemic shipbuilding contracts as supportive factors. Execution risks remain but improving While macro trends have improved, Bank of America acknowledged that operational challenges have not disappeared. Huntington Ingalls ( HII ) has been working through labor shortages, supply chain constraints and margin pressure tied to older fixed-price contracts. Management has outlined plans to boost shipyard throughput by 15% in 2026 after a 14% gain in 2025. The company also aims to expand outsourcing...

He stated, "Now that we are 1/3 of the way through our long-range plan, I remain highly confident that we'll reach our 2027 goals." Flitman noted that independent restaurant case volume grew 4.1% in Q4, with the company achieving its 19th consecutive quarter of share gains. Flitman addressed the transition to a 100% variable compensation structure for the local sales force, stating, "We plan to launch the new compensation plan in the middle of this year, it may take us 2 to 3 years to get the majority of our sales force to the 100% variable commission structure." Logistics stocks sank Thursday as investors rushed to exit the group amid fears over disruption from artificial intelligence, making it the latest casualty of the “AI scare trade.” The Russell 3000 Trucking Index dropped 7.8% , with CH Robinson Worldwide Inc. at one point plunging by a record 24%, and Landstar System Inc. falling 18% . The index is on track for its worst day since President Donald Trump enacted his so-called Liberation Day tariffs last year. Drug distribution stocks were also caught up in the selloff, with McKesson Corp. and Cardinal Health both sliding more than 4%. “The worry is that it could disintermediate the truck brokers, which is why they’re getting hit so much,” said Christopher Kuhn , a Benchmark analyst covering trucking stocks. “The whole sector is getting hit, but it’s mostly on the broker side.” Concern that new AI-powered tools and applications can upend the business models of many industries has sparked brutal selloffs in several corners of the stock market over the past couple weeks — starting with software makers, then spilling over to private credit companies, insurers, wealth managers, real estate services and now, logistics firms. Thursday’s rout was sparked by an update from tiny AI logistics firm Algorhythm Holdings Inc. , which said its SemiCab platform in live customer deployments was helping its customers’ internal operations to scale freight volumes by 300% to 400% without a corresponding increase in operational headcount. Shares of the company soared 12% . Algorhythm , which had a market capitalization of less than $5 million before Thursday, previously operated as The Singing Machine Company, Inc. — selling karaoke products — until rebranding in 2024 as an AI logistics firm. The company reported less than $2 million in sales for the quarter ended September 30, with a net loss totaling nearly $3 million for the period. Meanwhile, in Europe, Denmark’s DSV A/S fell as much as 15%, before closing down 11% in Copenhagen. Swis...

watch now VIDEO 1:51 01:51 Gail Slater steps down as DOJ antitrust chief Money Movers The Trump administration's head of the Justice Department's antitrust division said Thursday she is stepping down less than a year after being appointed by President Donald Trump. Gail Slater was confirmed in March to head the division, which enforces laws against illegal monopolies and anticompetitive business behavior. She said on X it was "with great sadness and abiding hope" that she was leaving on Thursday. "It was indeed the honor of a lifetime to serve in this role," she added. A spokesperson for the Justice Department confirmed Slater's departure to CNBC. "On behalf of the Department of Justice, we thank Gail Slater for her service to the Antitrust Division which works to protect consumers, promote affordability, and expand economic opportunity," the spokesperson told CNBC. Abigail Slater, US assistant attorney general nominee for US President Donald Trump, during a Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing in Washington, DC, US, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025. Daniel Heuer | Bloomberg | Getty Images Slater's move throws the division into uncertainty as companies facing antitrust probes have increasingly hired Trump-connected lobbyists to influence the outcomes of their cases. It leaves the division with few senior leaders, following the departure of the division's head of civil litigation this week. The White House and Vice President JD Vance's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Slater's departure. In July, Reuters and other outlets reported two of Slater's deputies were fired for insubordination after a settlement greenlighting Hewlett Packard Enterprise's $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks. The move exposed a power struggle within the Trump administration between proponents of robust antitrust enforcement and dealmakers seeking to leverage influence. — CNBC's Eamon Javers contributed to this report.

Earnings Call Insights: Optimum Communications, Inc. (OPTU) Q4 2025 Management View CEO Dennis Mathew highlighted 2025 as a year of "meaningful transformation," underscoring intensified competition and promotional activity across nearly every market. He stated, "We sharpened our focus on core priorities, strengthened execution to drive operating efficiencies, enhanced network quality and reliability and made intentional decisions to elevate the customer experience." Mathew noted that total revenue declined 2.3%, but connectivity and other revenue grew 2% year-over-year, and the company delivered its best video net loss performance in years, supported by lower churn and new video tiers. He also emphasized improved gross margins, cost discipline, and a "meaningful step-up in adjusted EBITDA, consistent with our guidance." Mathew explained, “Adjusted EBITDA grew nearly 8% year-over-year to just over $900 million, representing our first quarter of year-over-year adjusted EBITDA growth in 16 quarters.” CFO Marc Sirota reported, "In the fourth quarter, we lost 62,000 net broadband subscribers and ended the year with 4.2 million broadband subscribers." He also cited a 33% year-over-year growth in fiber customer accounts and 35% growth in mobile lines. Sirota highlighted, "Adjusted EBITDA of $902 million grew 7.7% year-over-year. Fourth quarter adjusted EBITDA margin expanded by 380 basis points year-over-year to 41.3%, representing our highest EBITDA margin in 16 quarters and surpassing 40% margin milestone." Outlook Management did not provide specific 2026 guidance for EBITDA or free cash flow but stated that operational improvements in 2025 put Optimum in a "better position to support long-term EBITDA stability and over time, grow." Emphasis was placed on targeted investments in pricing, customer value, and continued network enhancement. Mathew said, “We are focused on improving our broadband trajectory... simplifying our product portfolio by offering fewer speed tiers, ...
