hapabapa/iStock Editorial via Getty Images As previously signaled, AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. ( AMC ) has entered into an agreement to issue up to $150 million in common stock. It also announced its preliminary Q4 2025 results and quantified how changes in European movie attendance and the North American box office affect its adjusted EBITDA. Based on that information, I estimate that AMC needs around $10.1 billion to $10.2 billion per year in North American box office to breakeven in terms of keeping its net debt from growing. AMC reported having $428.5 million in cash and cash equivalents (not including restricted cash) at the end of 2025. However, Q1 2026 is looking to be by far the weakest quarter in 2026 based on the movies being released then. Also, Q1 is historically a quarter where working capital changes negatively affect AMC's cash by a large amount. Thus it makes sense for AMC to raise cash now, despite having a decent amount at the end of 2025. After Q1 2026, the box office for the remainder of the year seems likely to average around the amount needed for AMC to breakeven. AMC's debt remains a massive issue, though (with most of its debt maturing in 2029), and there's a high chance that it will need to issue more shares to help deal with its debt some more (such as for debt-for-equity exchanges). AMC's share price is now around my estimated value of $1.25 per share (which I am maintaining), and I am moving back to a "Neutral" outlook on it for now. 2025 Results AMC reported its preliminary results for Q4 2025, which were slightly better than I expected given the relatively weak box office in the quarter. AMC reported approximately $1,288.3 million in revenues in Q4 2025, down 1.4% compared to Q4 2024. This was around 5% to 6% better than the year-over-year domestic box office performance, though. AMC's full-year 2025 revenues were approximately $4,848.9 million, which is a 4.6% increase compared to 2024 and around 3% to 4% above the year-over-year ...

AndreyPopov/iStock via Getty Images The first six weeks of 2026 are in the books. It is time to circle back on the housing sector for several key reasons. First, housing related activity makes up roughly one sixth of GDP and currently GDP growth has few key drivers outside the massive surge in tech spending related to the AI Revolution. U.S. Consumer Sentiment (FRED) In addition, housing prices are a significant part of consumer sentiment, which is in the doldrums right now despite some recent improvement. Finally, we have mid-terms coming up in November in the U.S. And ' Affordability ' continues to be a core political theme given the significant amount of buying power lost to the surge in inflation over the past half decade following Covid. Several initiatives to ' revive ' the housing market has recently been floated. U.S. Inflation Rate (Multpl) So, in today's article I take a look at the current state of the housing sector and what this means for the U.S. economy as well as related areas of the market. One of the most interesting studies that came out in 2025 that got little attention was a Kiplinger's study in spring of last year that canvassed the top 100 metro regions in the U.S. It found that owning a single-family home was on average 57% more expensive than renting the same home. In only one metro region (Pittsburgh) was owning a home cheaper than renting it (barely). U.S. Existing Home Sales By Year (Mortgage News Daily) If one believes most human beings make somewhat rational decisions around most people's largest investment in life, before the housing market can rebound from its current moribund status is that the rent versus buy decision has to become more favorable to buyers. This piece will look at the potential drivers that could make that happen. Rents Rise: MBA.Org Obviously, if national rents rise significantly, this would tilt the home buying decision more to the buy side. However, national average rents have now decreased on a year-over-year ba...

The transaction values SpaceX at approximately $1 trillion and xAI at roughly $250 billion. This deal shattered a twenty-year record for global M&A, previously held by Vodafone's $203 billion takeover of Mannesmann in 2000. Trending: Blue-chip art has historically outpaced the S&P 500 since 1995, and fractional investing is now opening this institutional asset class to everyday investors. Musk framed the synergy as a long-term play for human intelligence, stating the merger marks “not just the next chapter, but the next book” in his shared mission. Key Points Solana plans to introduce Alpenglow, a consensus protocol that improves speed and security. It should also complete its Firedancer upgrade, a software that processed 1 million transactions per second in testing. 10 stocks we like better than Solana › Since its launch in 2020, Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) has stood out from other programmable blockchains for its performance. Transactions process in seconds, and transaction fees are well under $0.01. Successful blockchains are constantly evolving, and Solana is no exception. This year is shaping up to be a big one for Solana, as there are two major technical upgrades scheduled. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now, when you join Stock Advisor. See the stocks » The first is Alpenglow, a new consensus protocol to replace its current system of validating transactions. While Solana's existing consensus protocol is fast, it has some limitations. Transaction finalization takes about 12 to 13 seconds, for starters. With Alpenglow, it will drop to as low as 100-150 milliseconds. Alpenglow also improves the network's security. It provides "20+20" resilience, meaning the network remains safe even if 20% of the validation nodes act maliciously and another 20% are offline. In addition, Solana will release the full version of its Firedancer validator client software. Firedancer could drastically improve Solana's transaction processing, as it handled up to 1 million transactions per second (tps) in testing. It's also more bug-resistant than the previous validator client, Agave. Firedancer breaks each validator's task into separate tiles, which keeps issues contained. If there's a bug, the validator can simply restart that tile. Solana also runs a bug bounty program for Firedancer, offering bounties of up to $500,000. Solana is currently running a hybrid software with elements of Firedancer and Agave, known as Frankendancer. The full release is ...

A surprise surge in US jobs hit Treasuries as traders pared bets on Federal Reserve rate cuts this year. Asian equity futures were mixed after US stocks ended flat. The latest monthly employment report showed 130,000 roles added in January, twice the median forecast, underscoring a robust economy that may not merit imminent policy easing. Short-dated Treasuries were hit the hardest, with two-year yields rising six basis points to around 3.51%. Money markets priced in the Fed’s next cut in July , from June previously. Gold and silver rose, Bitcoin fell for a third session and the dollar was fractionally weaker, benefiting the yen , which touched a two-week high. Equity-index futures were pointing to gains in Japan as markets were set to reopen Thursday following a holiday, while contracts for Hong Kong and Australian benchmarks fell. The S&P 500 ended Wednesday flat after a bumpy session with real estate services stocks getting hit, while the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.3%. The moves signaled that for now, strength in the US economy counterbalances the desire for lower borrowing costs, supporting risk sentiment that has itself taken a battering over AI concerns in recent weeks. The US jobs report should be welcomed by investors — even if it gives the Fed more room to stay put, said Bret Kenwell at eToro. “If the labor market is indeed stabilizing, that would be constructive for both the economy and the market,” he noted. The S&P 500 closed near 6,940. In late hours, Cisco Systems Inc. gave a tepid margin forecast, overshadowing a generally positive outlook fueled by artificial-intelligence gains. McDonald’s Corp. ’s US sales grew at the fastest pace in more than two years. In Asia, data set for release Thursday include consumer confidence in Thailand and inflation for India. Elsewhere, Reserve Bank of Australia official Sarah Hunter is set to speak. In commodities, oil rose as tensions in the Middle East outweighed concerns that there’s a supply glut growing. Children who carry knives will be given earlier and more targeted support in the wake of stabbings at a secondary school, David Lammy has said. The deputy prime minister said every child in England and Wales caught with a sharp weapon will be given a mandatory, specialised plan from the authorities. It comes after two pupils at Kingsbury high school, in Brent, north-west London, were left seriously injured after being stabbed at lunchtime on Tuesday. A 13-year-old boy is thought to be a former pupil who disguised himself in the correct uniform to carry out the attack. Police will refer every child knife possession case to youth justice services – locally led teams spanning health, education and community services tasked with mandating targeted action to help each child. They could also could be forced to attend mentoring to stay in education or social skills training to boost employability, officials said. The aim is to address the root causes of a child’s offending, including potential exploitation by criminal gangs and childhood trauma. Officials claim such a policy will give children the foundations they need to turn their backs on crime and keep our streets safe, and is part of the government’s commitment to halve knife crime within a decade. These plans will be mandatory, with no child able to avoid the getting the support they need, it is claimed. Failure to engage will have serious consequences, such as possible criminal charges and time behind bars. Lammy said: “With early targeted action, we can put children on the right path to a positive future and stop them falling into a toxic cycle of reoffending. “Our reforms will give local services the security they need to help more young people and make our streets safer for everyone.” The plans announced today will be backed up with a first-of-its-kind three-year wider funding package for youth justice services, worth more than £320m. In Brent, DCS Helen Flanagan, of counter-terrorism policing London, said the vi...

Arne Slot has said he does not believe his job security hinges on Liverpool securing Champions League qualification this spring but the Dutchman would much prefer not to put that assertion to the test. On this evidence there seems a decent chance the Champions’s manager will not have to. In finally ending Sunderland’s proud unbeaten home record in the Premier League this season, sixth placed Liverpool left themselves only three points adrift of fourth placed Manchester United and two behind fifth placed Chelsea. Régis Le Bris’s intelligent and supremely well organised side did not surrender lightly but, with Florian Wirtz continuing to go from strength to strength, Liverpool just about deserved to edge a match decided by Virgil van Dijk’s header from Mo Salah’s second half corner. The only downside for Slot was the nasty looking ankle injury sustained by Wataru Endo. It all began with both teams eyeing each other rather warily at a rain sodden Stadium of Light. With no one seeming to want to take any real risks too early the first half opened in mutually cautious, thoroughly cagey fashion. Although Liverpool had quite a bit of possession it initially foundered in the face of a meticulously organised Sunderland defence. Then, with around 30 minutes on the clock, Wirtz met Alex Mac Allister’s pass took a steadying touch and decided to try his luck from the edge of the area. While Robin Roefs did well to turn that one around a post, Sunderland’s goalkeeper was subsequently relieved to see a subsequent Wirtz shot rebound off the base of an upright after Andy Robertson’s cross bisected Le Bris’s backline. With Wirtz in increasingly catalytic mood as he assumed centre stage and Mo Salah, sporadically ruffling the already booked Reinildo, Le Bris had reason to look more than a little anxious at times. Yet his team, too, had their moments. All kaleidoscopic positional interchanging going forward, Sunderland were being fully stretched yet remained very much in the game. It w...
