Goldman Sachs believes that recent volatility in software stocks has created an attractive buying opportunity in shares of Samsara . The Wall Street investment bank initiated research coverage of the AI-powered, fleet management stock with a buy rating and $36 price target, implying upside of roughly 30% from current levels. Shares of Samsara have plunged 49% over the past 12 months and 30% over the past three months alone. With gold at $5000/oz and silver at $75/oz, most companies have seen their margins double and although operating costs are on the rise, producers are still printing cash. Almost a year ago, I discussed Hochschild Mining ( HCHDF ) ( HCHDY ) as an interesting precious metals idea. As the company has its main listing on the London Stock Exchange, it is often overlooked by North American investors. I recently covered Canada-listed Tiernan Gold ( TNGD:CA ) which acquired a large project from Hochschild whereby the latter remains the majority shareholder of Tiernan. Given how strong gold is trading these days, Hochschild may have preferred to have kept the Volcan project rather putting it in Tiernan Gold. Yahoo Finance Hochschild Mining has its primary listing in London where it is trading with HOC as its ticker symbol. The average daily volume in London is 2.5M shares so it definitely is the most liquid listing to trade in the company’s shares. There are 514M shares outstanding, resulting in a current market capitalization of approximately 3.6B GBP. This represents $2.65B USD. As Hochschild reports its financial results in US Dollar, I will use the USD as base currency throughout this article. Investors sold off Microsoft shares after its earnings report, but the long-term outlook remains extremely positive. Investors have piled into artificial intelligence (AI) over the last three years, as the advances in generative AI make practically everyone optimistic about its potential to positively affect financial results. Some stocks have seen their prices balloon, leaving investors who are just getting started on building a portfolio feel like they might have missed the boat. But even if you only have $400 to invest, there are still plenty of opportunities. This AI leader looks like a no-brainer buy right now, and you can pick up shares for under $500. A (tech) giant opportunity for investors Shares of Microsoft (MSFT 2.03%) sold off after the company's most recent earnings report, but smart investors should consider it an opportunity to buy shares on the cheap. The big reason for the sell-off stems from rising capital expenditures (capex) related to its AI data center construction. The company spent $37.5 billion on capex last quarter, more than analysts were expecting. The company's growth in Azure, its cloud computing segment, performed in line with expectations with 39% growth, but investors were expecting higher revenue growth to go along with higher capex. Nonetheless, management says demand continues to outstrip supply. The increased capex will likely weigh on the company's profit margin as depreciation expense climbs. Management says two-thirds of its spending is on short-lived assets, so that depreciation will hit quickly. Streaming was a $2 billion plus loser back in 2022. It's now a profitable business, $1 billion in profits. I think, he gets a lot of credit for that. Part of that is just maturation, so I don't know how much credit. Here's the thing, though. The stock price. Really liked his first tenure more than the second. The stock has done nothing. How much of that is him and how much of it is, again, the maturing business and the markets losing faith in that core television business? I don't know how much credit to give him for his accomplishments or how much fault to give him for his failures with the stock market. I will say this, he was a steady hand at the ship.
