Gabler Group, a maker of submarine technology components that derives most of its revenue from defense contracts, announced plans for an initial public offering in Frankfurt. The German firm plans to begin trading in early March and aims to raise about €40 million ($47 million) from the issue of new shares. Its owner Possehl Group will look to sell an unspecified number of existing shares in the offering, the company said in a Monday statement . Gabler’s IPO may benefit from rising investor demand for exposure to the defense industry, where it generated 75% of its pro-forma net sales last year. The sector was a key driver of Europe’s equity rally in 2025, with the region’s rapid expansion of military spending expected to provide a powerful tailwind in the years ahead. It would follow strong debuts from armored vehicle and munitions maker CSG NV in Amsterdam last month, and naval shipbuilder TKMS AG, which rallied after its spinoff from Thyssenkrupp in October. German defense supplier Vincorion and tankmaker KNDS NV are among the firms in the sector expected to go public this year, Bloomberg News has reported. The company reported consolidated pro forma net sales of about €62 million for fiscal 2025 and an order backlog at €359 million at the end of last year. Gabler, which serves more than 250 customers, including 25 navies, also aims to capitalize on increased focus on critical infrastructure by supplying autonomous underwater vehicles and monitoring systems. Cantor Fitzgerald is managing the offering, the statement said.

At the stock level, Corcept Therapeutics ( CORT ) detracted from performance. The company’s shares dropped sharply after its hypercortisolism drug failed to secure FDA approval, raising concerns about pipeline strength and future growth prospects. Stride ( LRN ) was also unfavourable. Its shares fell as technology implementation issues fuelled customer churn and pressured full-year projections. Meanwhile, e.l.f. Beauty’s ( ELF ) shares fell after the company reported a decline in organic sales and guided for slower growth, reflecting tough comparisons against last year’s significant distribution gains. Conversely, Alphatec’s ( ATEC ) shares rose and contributed to performance after a strong earnings report highlighted accelerating sales, market share gains in the spine segment and improved profitability. Aritzia ( ATZAF ) was also positive. Its shares gained as demand accelerated through the quarter, with new store openings and a mobile application launch reinforcing prospects for sustained growth. Meanwhile, Viavi Solutions’ ( VIAV ) shares rose after the company reported strong third-quarter results and successfully completed the acquisition of a high-speed Ethernet testing business, expanding its exposure to data-centre end markets. Low pressure system funnels rain over already saturated areas, compounding risk of further flooding A deep area of low pressure to the south-east of New Zealand’s North Island swept into the region on Sunday, bringing heavy rain, gale-force winds and dangerous coastal swells that lashed exposed shorelines. The storm triggered power outages, forced evacuations and damaged infrastructure, with further impacts likely on Monday as the system lingers for a time, before tracking southwards later. Its arrival came after days of widespread flooding in the Ōtorohanga district, where a man was found dead after his vehicle became submerged in flood waters. Some areas recorded more than 100mm of rain in 24 hours on Thursday, with Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay and the Bay of Plenty bearing the brunt of the deluge. The Tararua district and Wairarapa have also been experiencing heavy rain and strong winds from the storm, with 24-hour rainfall totals reaching more than 100mm locally, and wind speeds of about 80mph (130km/h) along coastal parts.
