The announcement of business separation plans didn’t help GPC’s share performance, as a very mixed Automotive segment performance weighed on the quarter’s financials. In my opinion, the overall earnings outlook is good, but investors should focus on GPC’s European performance during 2026 after a weak Q4. I maintained a Hold rating in my previous October 2025 article on the stock, titled “ Genuine Parts Q3: Moving Past Macro-Related Weakness ”. The stock has since lost -5% of its value, losing slightly to the S&P 500’s 2% gain. My Rating History on GPC (Seeking Alpha) GPC Q4 Review: A Mixed Quarter GPC’s Q4 results missed expectations. Revenues came in at $6.01 billion, missing Wall Street’s consensus by $53 million. The quarter’s adjusted EPS of $1.55 showed a more noticeable consensus miss of $0.27. Ultimately, overall financial results were relatively consistent with previous quarters, but the market expected GPC’s results to rebound better. Segments showed very different performances. The overall Automotive segment showed a very mixed performance; North American margins, and the overall international performance, were weak. GPC Q4'25 Investor Presentation North American comparable sales growth came in at 1.7%, resulting in revenues of $2.3 billion. Growth slowed down slightly from Q3 but came in above the slow 0.6% full-year 2025 level. The sales performance is in my opinion modest, coming in well below AutoZone’s ( AZO ) latest 4.8% comparable growth and O’Reilly Automotive’s ( ORLY ) 5.6% comparable growth, but slightly above Advanced Auto Parts’ ( AAP ) 1.1% growth in the metric. There was some macroeconomic pressure weakening U.S. sales. In an interview on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Makary said the FDA's aims to make changes this year that allow more companies to make their prescription medicines available over-the-counter , or OTC. He noted that the agency is going through "the proper regulatory processes" to update OTC monographs – the rulebooks that determine which drugs can be sold without a prescription. Makary said the FDA is looking at "basic, safe" prescription drugs like nausea medications and vaginal estrogen, which is used to treat menopausal symptoms like dryness and pain. Over the last year, the industry is broadly down with several companies dropping more than 20%. Some of these companies pay healthy dividends with expanded forward yields on lowered share prices. I have been watching The Campbell's Company ( CPB ), Flowers Foods ( FLO ), Hormel Foods ( HRL ), and Kraft Heinz ( KHC ). Most recently FLO plummeted a further 15% to a new 52 week low of $9.84 before recovering slightly to $10.36. At this price, FLO's $0.2475 quarterly dividend yields 9.56%. FLO is awfully tempting near its 52 week low with a nearly 10% dividend, but is it undervalued? Safe? Is the dividend safe? Are FLO, CPB, HRL, and KHC among the most favorable options in the packaged foods industry. Beats me! I often begin an investment decision by broadly comparing the stock or stocks I'm considering to a group of peers using a decision matrix. A decision matrix is an analytical tool designed to transform a complex decision with multiple factors into an objective, quantitative process. Lets' call this one a relative favorability matrix. Relative Favorability Matrix Seeking Alpha's screening tool was used to identify a group of packaged foods producers on the following criteria: dividend yield over 2%, at least five consecutive years of dividends, and a market cap of at least $0.5Billion. Twenty-three prospects were identified including CPB, FLO, HRL, and KHC. A great dividend stock would not only pay a high yield with a safe payout ratio, but it would also compare favorably with its peers on value, profitability, growth, and financial strength.
