(This is The Best Stocks in the Market , brought to you by Josh Brown and Sean Russo of Ritholtz Wealth Management.) Josh — Ladies and gentlemen, we got ourselves a float shrinker! Old Dominion (ODFL) checks literally every box for me. It's in the right sector, it's in the right industry group, it's acting better than all of its peers, it's buying back stock and investing aggressively during temporary setbacks for its business. This is a strong stock getting stronger with improving fundamentals coinciding with the rally in price. Observing the way this name behaved during the recent AI scare for trucking and logistics stocks, you can see that it didn't take much for the buyers to come back in. We like. Sean's going to tell you the story and I will be back with a chart. Best Stock Spotlight: Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. (ODFL) Sean — The transports and companies involved in freight specifically have had a volatile decade. The pandemic caused one of the biggest booms in freight ever. The "Cass Freight Index" expenditures component — which measures total dollars spent on freight across North America, exploded 38% in 2021 and another 23% in 2022. Carriers literally could not keep up. Once these carriers caught up with demand, spent capital on more equipment, invested in more employees, etc., it all reversed. Consumers rotated to services instead of goods, and freight volumes have dropped ever since. Freight expenditures fell 19% in 2023 and 11% in 2024, followed by another decline of 6.1% in 2025 according to Cass Information Systems, which tracks this freight data. Old Dominion's own numbers tell the clearest story of what a freight recession looks like. Tonnage (total weight transported) peaked at 10,211 thousand tons in 2022 and has fallen every year since, reaching 8,177 thousand tons in 2025, a level below where the company was in 2018. Three years of volume decline have erased essentially all of the growth from 2019 to 2022. However, ODFL did not cut costs, sho...

In Formula One, grip is everything. The world's best engineers devote their careers to designing cars that maximize downforce and grip to squeeze every bit of performance out of a set of four humble tires. These cars punish their drivers by slinging them at six Gs through corners and offer similar levels of abuse in braking. It's all wildly impressive, but I've long maintained that those drivers are not the ones having the most fun. When it comes to sheer enjoyment, grip is highly overrated, and if you want proof of that, you need to try ice racing. Should you be lucky enough to live somewhere that gets cold enough consistently enough, all you need is a good set of tires and a car that's willing and able. That, of course, and a desire to spend more time driving sideways than straight. I've been ice racing for well over 20 years now, and I'm here to tell you that there's no greater thrill on four wheels than sliding through a corner a few inches astern of a hard-charging competitor. Olemedia/E+ via Getty Images Lithium Americas ( LAC ) said Thursday it is targeting capital spending of $1.3B-$1.6B for phase 1 of its Thacker Pass lithium project in Nevada for 2026, as the company accelerates construction toward a late-2027 completion target. The company said its phase 1 construction estimate includes projected tariff exposure for equipment and construction materials sourced from Canada, China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and the European Union , but said ~75% of the total capital project cost structure related to labor, contractors, and other services is not expected to be directly affected by any potential tariffs. Thacker Pass is a joint venture between Lithium Americas ( LAC ) and automaker General Motors and contains enough lithium to build 1M electric vehicles annually. Lithium Americas ( LAC ) previously secured $2.23B in financing from the U.S. Department of Energy's loan program, supplemented by strategic investments from GM and Orion Resource Partners; last year, the DoE took a 5% stake in Lithium Americas and a separate 5% stake in the Thacker Pass project. US Coast Guard Seizes $133.5 Million In Illicit Drugs Authored by Naveen Athrappully via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), Crew of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Seneca seized more than $133.5 million worth of cocaine and offloaded the drugs at Port Everglades, Florida , the agency said in a Feb. 13 statement. The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk (WMEC 913) and a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter flight crew conduct training evolutions in the Caribbean Sea, on July 15, 2025. Seaman Corrie Gill/U.S. Coast Guard “ 80 percent of interdictions of U.S.-bound drugs occur at sea . This underscores the importance of maritime interdiction in combatting the flow of illegal narcotics and protecting American communities from this deadly threat,” USCG said. In total, 17,700 pounds of cocaine were seized through the interdiction of four drug-transporting vessels in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean. One of the drug vessels was boarded by Seneca’s crew on Jan. 25, seizing 4,410 pounds of cocaine . On Jan. 31, crew members boarded three vessels, taking custody of 13,340 pounds of cocaine, the statement said. The detection and monitoring of illegal drug transit by air and sea are conducted by the U.S. Southern Command’s Joint Interagency Task Force-South, based in Key West. Once it is determined that the vessel must be interdicted, the USCG takes control of the operation, boards the vessel, and apprehends it. “I am extremely proud of the crew’s incredible performance and adaptability during this deployment, ” said Capt. Lee Jones, commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Seneca. “This deployment demonstrates our enhanced posture and continued success in the fight against narco-terrorism and transnational criminal organizations. “The Coast Guard, in conjunction with our inter-agency and international partners, continues to patrol areas commonly associated with drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific, denying smugglers access to maritime routes by which...
