Reflection AI is in discussions with investors about a new deal that would more than double the valuation it secured after raising $2B in October, the report said, citing multiple people with direct knowledge of the talks. The company is seeking to raise at least another $2B in a new funding round, though no target has been fixed, they added. Reflection was valued at $8B in October, up from $545M in a funding round a year ago. The New York-based start-up, founded by former Google ( GOOG ) ( GOOGL ) DeepMind research scientists Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou, builds open models that developers are free to download and modify. The company has been hiring researchers who have worked on leading AI models, including OpenAI’s GPT-5 and Google’s Gemini. “We want to build a vibrant open-source large language model ecosystem here in the US,” Michael Kratsios, White House chief of science and technology policy, told Congress last month. He cited Reflection as one start-up doing “tremendous work in this space.” More on Nvidia Nvidia Just Exposed How Weak The AI Trade Sentiment Is (Downgrade) Nvidia: AI Fears Trigger Deep Value Buy Opportunity, Despite Competition Risks Nvidia: The Panic Buying Opportunity That I've Been Waiting Nvidia, telecom firms vow to build 6G on open, AI-native platforms Lumentum, Coherent jump amid Nvidia partnerships, investments

Hong Kong police have been alerted to a suspected child abuse case after a video was posted online showing a man on an MTR train repeatedly slapping a baby’s foot for resting on their stroller bar. The commuter who filmed the video, a woman who identified herself as Asumi, told the South China Morning Post on Tuesday that she witnessed the man slapping the infant’s foot more than 20 times on a light rail train in Tin Shui Wai. “Whenever he spotted the baby putting its foot on the stroller’s front bar, he hit [the infant’s foot],” she said. Advertisement Asumi’s video, which she posted on Monday, has attracted more than 560,000 views. The man, who appeared to be the child’s carer, is seen in the video looking at his phone before noticing the baby lifting their foot onto the stroller bar. He reacts angrily in response. Advertisement Asumi said the man slapped the child’s foot repeatedly over a period of about seven minutes, while travelling between Tin Heng and Tin Shui stops.

tiero/iStock via Getty Images Overview Cohen & Steers Real Estate Opps and Income Fund ( RLTY ) operates as a closed-end fund that aims to provide attractive total returns through its diverse portfolio of real estate and fixed income securities. When I previously covered RLTY, I issued a hold rating due to its underperformance against peers. The verdict was that RLTY essentially got the job done, but there were some more enticing peers out there. Since that last coverage, RLTY has released an updated annual report that prompted me to revisit the fund's performance and outlook for 2026. Looking at the performance over the last twelve months, we can see that RLTY's share price has experienced an uptick in the last month but is still down by 0.3%. When including all distributions that were paid out to shareholders, the total return jumps up to 8.8% over the same time frame. RLTY now offers investors a starting dividend yield of 8.3% while issuing payouts on a monthly basis. Although the fund has maintained a consistent track record with its payouts, I am cautious about the overall sustainability and the negative impacts of potential NAV erosion. Data by YCharts When I previously covered RLTY, I discussed some of the shortcomings against notable peers. Despite this, I believe that RLTY is directly positioned to partially benefit from the growth of AI data centers. While interest rates remain the primary catalyst in the near term, I believe that the expansion of the data center market will introduce growth opportunities that can drive faster growth than typical. So let's start by reviewing the fund's underlying portfolio approach that it uses to generate its earnings. Strategy Benefits From AI Data Centers According to the most updated fact sheet , RLTY has total managed assets of $404M that are spread across 219 different holdings. The fund has the primary goal of generating a high level of current income, with a secondary goal of capital appreciation. In order to achie...

The next four weeks will determine whether Europe’s economy is facing a fresh crisis or simply a speed bump in its recovery. That’s how long Donald Trump says his strikes on Iran — which have already killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , triggered a wave of counter attacks across the Middle East and sent energy costs surging — will last. A lengthier campaign risks sabotaging the euro zone’s fledgling revival while reawakening inflationary forces that the European Central Bank has fought hard to contain. A reliance on oil and gas from the region makes the bloc the “most exposed major economy” to Iran spillovers, ING’s Carsten Brzeski reckons. “If the conflict is short-lived and energy prices rise only briefly, the damage will be contained,” Bloomberg Economics’s Antonio Barroso and Simona Delle Chiaie said. “A prolonged war , however, that keeps oil and gas prices elevated could force governments to spend more to shield voters from rising costs — and put incumbent leaders under pressure.” Things had been looking up for Europe this year, with higher government spending in Germany and beyond set to underpin further modest economic expansion and inflation broadly in line with the ECB’s 2% goal. But the Iran escalation follows renewed confusion over US tariffs after the Supreme Court struck down Trump’s initial levies. There’s little panic just yet that the euro zone is being thrown off course. Holger Schmieding , chief economist at Berenberg, says he’ll continue to base his outlook on Brent prices averaging $65-$70 a barrel, even after they broke through $80 on Monday in what he described as probably a “near-term spike.” “I’d expect Trump to go to great lengths to prevent a lasting surge in energy prices that could hurt him at home,” Schmieding said. “US voters already blamed him for high consumer prices before the strikes against Iran.” Iran, too, has strong incentives to avoid excessive tensions in the Strait of Hormuz — the conduit for about a fifth of the world’s seaborne...
