RBC Capital Markets Lifts Broadcom (AVGO) Price Target, Points to Bullish FY27 Commentary On March 5, RBC Capital Markets raised its price recommendation on Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) to $360 from $340. The firm reiterated a Sector Perform rating on the shares. The analyst said the company’s Q2 outlook looked solid. The commentary around FY27 was even more bullish, according to the research note. RBC also pointed to Broadcom’s history of consistent execution. Based on that track record, the firm said it sees little reason to question management’s visibility. During the company’s Q4 2025 earnings call, CEO Hock Tan said total revenue for Q1 2026 reached a record $19.3 billion. That marked a 29% increase from a year earlier. Tan said the stronger-than-expected results were driven largely by higher growth in AI semiconductors. He also reported that consolidated adjusted EBITDA reached a record $13.1 billion for the quarter, equal to 68% of total revenue. Looking ahead, Tan said the company expects that momentum to continue as its custom AI XPUs move into the next stage of deployment with five customers. He said Broadcom expects consolidated revenue of about $22 billion in Q2 2026. That would represent roughly 47% year-on-year growth. Tan also highlighted the sharp rise in AI semiconductor sales. AI semiconductor revenue increased 106% from the prior year to $8.4 billion, well above the company’s outlook. He said the trend could strengthen further in Q2. Semiconductor revenue is projected to reach $14.8 billion, which would mark a 76% increase from a year earlier. Much of that growth is expected to come from AI-related products. The company expects AI revenue to rise about 140% year-on-year to $10.7 billion. Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) designs and supplies semiconductors, enterprise software, and security solutions. Bart Melek, Head of Commodity Strategy with TD Securities, joins MoneyTalk to discuss how long the impact could last and what investors should be watching. Transcript Greg Bonnell: The price of oil has jumped above $100 a barrel amid continued conflict in the Middle East, but it's also having an impact on the wider commodity space. Joining us now to discuss is Bart Melek, head of commodity strategy at TD Securities. Bart, great to have you on the program. Lots going on. You're the right man to have in the chair today. The conflict, of course, the price of oil, and it is a substantial move, gets all the headlines. But obviously, there's a lot of impacts on commodities right now to the space. Bart Melek: Well, first of all, thank you very much for having me back. And yes, the impact on commodities is vast. And it's not only the energy space as we narrowly understand it -- crude oil and diesel and gasoline. LNG is massively impacted as well -- metals like aluminum, which also hails from the Middle East. And in fact, about 9% of global supplies come from the region with maybe as much as 4 to 5 million tons at risk. Things like sulfuric acid -- not very exciting, perhaps, but it is very much used to process or to get copper into metal form. And of course, fertilizers and others. So it is very broad. And it's not just crude oil. Greg Bonnell: Let's break it down, and we'll start with crude oil. It's not just crude oil. We'll have a broader discussion. But obviously, oil has captured the headlines. It's probably been your custom for a very long time. But for me, a generalist, I've started to -- 6:00 PM on Sunday, futures market opens. I start to check to see what's happening in commodities, what's happening in the markets. We've seen some wild moves since 6:00 PM yesterday. Bart Melek: We absolutely have. We had o...

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE:TSM) is starting 2026 with strong momentum, reporting combined revenue of NT$718.91 billion for January and February, a roughly 30% jump from the same period a year ago as global demand for AI chips continues to surge. For February alone, revenue came in at NT$317.66 billion. That was down 20.8% from January's level but still up 22.2% compared with February last year, suggesting the broader demand trend remains firmly intact despite the typical month to month swings. TSMC sits at the center of the global semiconductor supply chain, producing advanced chips for some of the world's largest technology companies including Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), and AMD (NASDAQ:AMD). The company said last week it does not currently expect any meaningful impact from the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict, though it continues to monitor the situation closely.

SoftBank -backed PayPay Corp. is betting its strong position in Japan’s cashless payments market and the support of cornerstone investors will insulate its plans for a US initial public offering from the current bout of market turbulence. The Japanese digital wallet provider aims to raise $1.1 billion and is pushing ahead with its offering — set to price on Wednesday — despite heightened volatility after the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East. PayPay is trying to avoid the fate of companies such as LiftOff Mobile Inc. and Clear Street Group Inc., which both postponed their listing plans last month. Investors looking for calm and certainty haven’t much of either in recent weeks. The Iran war has battered US assets and a key measure of equity market volatility has been at elevated levels this month. That’s on top of Wall Street’s worries about the resilience of the private credit market and how artificial intelligence could upend a software sector that has powered equity-index gains for years. Even before the Iran conflict began, PayPay was stepping into a challenging environment for IPOs. In the past year, US listings from financial technology firms including Chime Financial Inc., Klarna Group Plc and Wealthfront Corp. have fizzled. Four of the past five US IPOs regardless of the sector have fallen in their opening sessions. However, the structure of PayPay’s IPO could give it a softer landing. The offering represents just 8% of the company, a low free float even by US standards. Some 20% of the deal is spoken for with $220 million of upfront orders from cornerstone investors, including a unit of Qatar Investment Authority, Visa Inc. and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. Plus, about 16% of the shares are set aside for Japanese retail investors, further reducing the reliance on new US investors. The IPO terms value PayPay at more than 20 times earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, said Richard Kaye , co-head of Japan equity strategy a...

The US said it is conducting its most intense day of attacks against Iran since the conflict began. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth struck an aggressive tone today even after President Donald Trump had suggested the war could end soon. “We will not relent until the enemy is totally and decisively defeated,” Hegseth said during a press conference. Later, US special envoy Steve Witkoff said Trump was always willing to talk, while casting doubt on Iranian willingness to do so. “Do they actually want to have a diplomatic solution here,” Witkoff said in a CNBC interview. “So far, the evidence suggests no.” Today is the 11th day of bombardments by the US and Israel on Iran and the Islamic Republic has continued to fire drones and missiles at targets across the Middle East in return. The United Arab Emirates halted production at its Ruwais oil refinery as a precautionary measure after a drone strike, we’re told. The US along with other western powers , including France and the UK, are sending additional military assets to the region. More than 1,300 Iranians have been killed in the war so far, according to an official toll that hasn’t been updated for several days. The US reported its seventh casualty on Sunday. Two Israeli soldiers and about a dozen civilians also have died, while several deaths have been reported in Gulf countries. What You Need to Know Today Oil retreated from highs of almost $120 a barrel on Trump’s proclamation that the campaign is ahead of schedule. But the Strait of Hormuz remains all but shut and Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have all slashed production. Oil supply cuts have shaved about 6% off global output. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have ramped up exports through alternative routes to bypass Hormuz. But storage facilities are still filling up across the region. Meanwhile, the Group of Seven nations asked the International Energy Agency to prepare scenarios for the release of emergency oil stockpiles . The G-7 wants to be r...

Trade through the Middle East's biggest port has been hit hard since Iran began its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz - one of the world's most important global shipping routes. Oil prices rose to a peak of $120 (£89.2) a barrel on Monday and experts have told the BBC they are worried about a big drop in food coming into the region if the US-Israel war with Iran continues. BBC correspondent Nick Beake reports from Dubai's Port of Jebel Ali, which has been in the firing line since Iran responded to US-Israeli strikes by attacking Gulf states with links to the US. US President Trump has since warned on social media that "death, fire and fury will reign upon" Iran if it does anything that stops the flow of oil within the strait.

There is one business, however, that can't be displaced or made obsolete by a newer or better alternative. WM solves a problem that is only going to grow over time, creating even more demand for its services. 10 stocks we like better than WM › Is the era of true "forever" stocks finally over? There's no denying more for-profit corporations are facing challenges they haven't in the past. There are some well-run outfits in industries that will simply never die, however, that you can feel good about buying and holding indefinitely. One of these names from the industrial sector is WM (NYSE: WM). You know it better as Waste Management -- the waste collection specialist. Here's why demand for its services are only going to grow. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » WM under the microscope As Ben Franklin's old adage goes, "Nothing is certain but death and taxes." And the clever quip's point is well taken. Except there's at least one reasonable addition to the list. That's trash -- as long as human beings occupy the planet, they'll be producing garbage that needs to be dealt with somehow. Even if it's not a high-growth business (single-digit revenue growth is the norm here), WM is most definitely in a business that's here to stay. That being said, this particular company may well be able to deliver future shareholder returns that outpace its more modest history. But first things first. As of the latest count, WM operates 257 conventional landfill sites, 342 transfer stations, several dozen recycling facilities, and a handful of medical waste incinerators that meet a very specialized need. These assets produced $25.2 billion worth of revenue in 2025, up an impressive 14% year...

HAKINMHAN/iStock via Getty Images Investment Outlook Backblaze, Inc. ( BLZE ) recently reported its Q4 2025 and end-of-year financial results , beating quarterly revenue and EPS consensus estimates. I previously reviewed BLZE in July 2025 with a Sell outlook due to continued high operating losses. Operating losses have improved, but topline revenue growth is declining, core operating leverage continues to trend lower, and gross margin headwinds will increase in 2026, despite higher RPO from a major deal. I remain bearish on BLZE until it can continue to produce larger deals to offset the decline of its computer backup segment. Backblaze’s Market and Approach The firm operates primarily in the cloud backup and storage market and targets small and mid-sized customers. According to a 2026 Mordor Intelligence market research report , the global cloud storage market was an estimated $145 billion in 2025 and was expected to exceed $513 billion by the end of 2031. If accomplished, this would represent a forecast CAGR of 23.45% from 2026 to 2031, a very strong rate of growth. The primary reasons for this expected growth are the continuing growth in demand from organizations for data backup and storage, with recent gains in generative AI applications only intensifying this growth factor. While the North America region accounted for nearly 38% of global spend in 2025, the Asia Pacific region is expected to grow at the highest rate of growth through 2031. showcake/iStock via Getty Images Amazon ( AMZN ) has been able to temporarily stop Perplexity from using its Comet agentic shopping bot from searching and purchasing products on the Amazon ( AMZN ) platform without navigating the site directly. A San Francisco court issued a temporary order while both sides argue the legality of using shopping bots to purchase merchandise without consent from the retailer. Additionally, Perplexity is prohibited from accessing password-protected Prime accounts and must destroy copies of Amazon’s data. Amazon ( AMZN ) accused the AI startup of committing computer fraud for disguising itself as a human to bypass Amazon’s terms of service and refusing to stop when ordered by the company. Perplexity argues that because Comet bypasses Amazon’s ( AMZN ) online advertising and cannibalizes its ad revenue, the issue is more about advertising dollars than security risks. “AI agents don’t have eyeballs to see the pervasive advertising Amazon bombards its users with,” Perplexity said in its response to Amazon’s lawsuit. Shopping bots have become much more prevalent and have raised concerns over not just security risks but also lost revenue as a result of apps like Instant Checkout. Despite its beef with Comet, Amazon ( AMZN ) is exploring AI tools with OpenAI ( OPENAI ) and other third-party agents. The court must decide, however, if Amazon’s “terms of service” extends to shopping bots as well as humans. Amazon argues it does not, while Perplexity believes it has the shoppers’ consent to purchase. “The preliminary injunction will prevent Perplexity’s unauthorized access to the Amazon store and is an important step in maintaining a trusted shopping experience for Amazon customers,” Amazon spokesperson Lara Hendrickson said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg. The temporary order remains in place for one week. More on Amazon Amazon: Berkshire Hathaway Q4 Trimming And Capital Lease Accounting In Focus Amazon: I Bought The Recent Sell-Off Amazon: ...
