The instinct for value-focused investors is to assume that the easy money has been made, the multiple has been stretched too thin, and it’s time to move to the sidelines. But conventional wisdom can sometimes fail to account for the unique math that happens when hyper-growth outpaces price appreciation. When a company’s fundamentals explode almost as fast as price appreciation, a massive rally can happen, and the stock can still be a value play. I believe that this exact paradox is playing out right now with Amazon.com, Inc. ( AMZN ), with it not far from all-time high territory. When I last covered Amazon with a Strong Buy rating in February , I posited that the $200 billion capex guidance for 2026 set up a generationally cheap coiled spring ready to rip higher. I appreciated its variety of secular tailwinds. The AA-rated balance sheet was also a plus. Almost three months later, I’m reiterating my Strong Buy rating. Sugar prices came under pressure after crude oil prices (CLN26) plunged by more than -5% on Wednesday, which undercuts ethanol prices and could persuade global sugar mills to divert more cane crushing to sugar production rather than ethanol, boosting sugar supplies. Don’t Miss a Day: On Monday, sugar prices fell to 1-week lows after the ISO forecast a record global sugar crop for the 2025/26 season and raised its global surplus estimate. The ISO forecasts 2025/26 global sugar production at a record 182 MMT, up +3.5% y/y, and raised its 2025/26 global sugar surplus estimate to 2.2 MMT from a February forecast of 1.22 MMT, rebounding from a -3.46 MMT deficit in 2024-25. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) estimates a 82% probability that El Niño conditions will emerge between May and July and persist through the end of the year, with a 67% chance of a "Super El Niño." Cocoa prices also have support from early surveys of the 2026/27 West African cocoa crop that show below-average cherelle formation on cocoa trees, signaling a weak outlook for the main cocoa harvest, which begins in October. Signs that consumer demand for chocolate is holding up are a positive factor for cocoa prices.
