syahrir maulana/iStock via Getty Images Manager perspective and outlook Following the rally in low quality stocks that began in April and continued through the third quarter, US stocks finished the volatile fourth quarter with a rotation back to quality leadership. We believe 2026 will mark the inflection point where quality stocks reassert market leadership. Greater clarity of US Federal Reserve (Fed) monetary policy, a positive inflection in corporate earnings, continued US GDP growth, and reduced tariff uncertainty should provide cyclical support for small-cap stocks, in our view. A cyclical shift to quality small-cap stocks, along with higher valuations due to mean reversion and private equity demand, should, in our view, provide structural support for the small-cap segment. Potential risks for small-cap stocks in 2026 include, in our view, higher-than-expected tariffs, a Fed policy error, geopolitics and mega-cap technology stocks continuing to absorb capital. The fund is positioned across profitable companies in secular growth industries with what we see as strong balance sheets and shareholder return programs and reasonable valuations with improving fundamentals. The fund has cyclical exposure to industrials, materials and energy. We rely on the weight of evidence and adjust positioning as conditions evolve but will not abandon discipline to chase unsustainable momentum. We remain committed to running our own race, focused on quality companies that deliver sustainable, long-term returns. Key Points Four billionaires loaded up on Google parent Alphabet in Q4. Three billionaires added significantly to their stakes in Amazon. Bill Ackman initiated a hefty new position in Meta, with fellow billionaire David Tepper adding to his hedge fund's stake. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › No one becomes a billionaire investor by making nothing but bad decisions. Instead, individuals who achieve tremendous success typically make smart investing choices. Pershing Square Capital Management's Bill Ackman, Duquesne Family Office's Stanley Druckenmiller, Citadel Advisors' Ken Griffin, and Appaloosa's David Tepper are great examples of wildly successful investors who have made many good decisions over the years. Several of these billionaires are piling into three top stocks. Should you buy them too? Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » 1. Alphabet Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) ranked among the most popular picks for billionaire investors in the fourth quarter of 2025. Griffin added 39.8% to his hedge fund's stake in the "Magnificent Seven" stock. Druckenmiller increased Duquesne Family Office's position in Alphabet by a whopping 276.7%. Tepper boosted Appaloosa's holdings in the stock by 28.9%. Granted, not every billionaire was as bullish about Alphabet. Ackman, who initiated a position in the stock in early 2023, trimmed Pershing Square's position by roughly 2.5%. However, the consensus among these ultrawealthy investors about Alphabet was overwhelmingly positive. Does this optimism make sense? I think so. Alphabet's Google Cloud is the fastest-growing of the top three cloud service providers. The company's Google Gemini consistently ranks among the highest-rated AI models. Google Search and other Google apps have integrated Gemini extens...

German investor optimism worsened far more than expected as the war in Iran tempers hopes that Europe’s largest economy is on the cusp of a strong revival. An expectations index by the ZEW institute decreased to -0.5 in March from 58.3 in February. That’s below all estimates in a Bloomberg survey , which had foreseen a reading of 39.2, and is the least since Donald Trump first unveiled his tariffs last April. A measure of current conditions surprisingly improved. “The escalation in the Middle East spikes energy prices and increases inflationary pressure,” ZEW President Achim Wambach said Tuesday in a statement. “This heightens the risk for the German economy that the emerging trend of economic recovery will slow down. How strong these effects will turn out depends on the intensity and the duration of the conflict.” German bonds extended their gains, lowering 10-year yields as much as three basis points to 2.92%. Traders also trimmed wagers on interest-rate hikes, with swaps implying around 39 basis points of monetary-policy tightening by year-end. The Iran conflict and resulting surge in oil and gas costs has raised fears that Germany’s nascent recovery may be derailed even as the country benefits from hundreds of billions of euros of spending on infrastructure and defense . Deutsche Bank last week cut its 2026 growth forecast to 1% from 1.5%. The data arrive on the eve of the European Central Bank ’s two-day rate meeting, where officials will try to assess the impact on euro-area growth and inflation from Iran. They have, however, signaled it’s too early to draw definite conclusions. Even before the war, Germany’s economy had a rather weak start to the year, with industrial production, factory orders, exports and retail sales all missing expectations. There was better news in February as business surveys suggested the manufacturing sector expanded for the first time since 2022 . In 2025, Germany eked out growth of just 0.2%, following two years of contraction — a p...

Currency traders are loading up on protection against extreme moves as they brace for what comes next in the Middle East. After an initial shock caused by the outbreak of war and oil’s surge to $100 a barrel , investors are taking advantage of a period of relative calm and buying low-probability options that pay off when currencies shift abruptly in either direction. On the surface, the market appears at ease: one-month euro volatility trades at 7.68%, well off its year-to-date high and only modestly above the one-year average of 7.09%. The euro has already fallen to its weakest level since August and a broad dollar gauge has climbed to its highest since early December. But drill down deeper, and it’s clear that traders are positioning for another round of sharp moves that could be triggered by either an escalation that sends crude prices to $150 , or a cooling of tensions that clears the way for a retreat toward $70. This can be seen most clearly in so-called butterfly options, which allow traders to hedge against extreme currency moves. Demand for the euro-dollar options hit an 11-month high earlier in March and remains strong, at nearly double the one-year average. The same pattern repeats in dollar-yen. Expectations around how the Federal Reserve will respond to the crisis help explain why volatility has remained contained even as demand for protection against dramatic swings has increased. Analysts at Danske Bank argue that the energy price surge is unlikely to materially alter the central bank’s path this year. The analysts argue that comparisons with 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, are misplaced, and the inflation spillover should be smaller this time. Read more: Trump’s War Jolts Global Central Banks From Fed to ECB to BOJ Dollar volatility skew , which shows the difference in demand between bullish and bearish options, has been grinding higher and recently reached year-to-date highs. That suggests investors buying tail-risk protection are still paying up...

There's free money available for your child if he or she was born after Jan. 1, 2025. I'm talking about the Trump Accounts that were established in last year's One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These are tax-advantaged savings accounts for children under 18. And if your child was born in 2025 or later, he or she is eligible for an initial $1,000 government seed contribution to the account. How do you claim it? First, you need to open an account for your child by filling out and submitting Form 4547. You can submit the form electronically at form.trumpaccounts.gov. It's a simple and straightforward form, so those who hate paperwork (like I do) need not be anxious about it. Needless to say, you'll need your child's date of birth, contact information for you, and social security numbers for you and your child. You can add multiple children on the webpage. Then you'll be contacted by a trustee with whom your Trump Account will be established, with further instructions about how to complete the account setup. After you've successfully opened the account, you as a parent, other adults, and employers can contribute up to a combined $5,000 a year per child in 2026 and 2027. Those funds will be invested by the trustee in safe index funds, like those that track the entire S&P 500 index of large-cap U.S.-listed companies. This is free money every new parent should claim. Don't delay. You can find more information about the Trump Accounts here.

By Arriana McLymore NEW YORK, March 17 (Reuters) - Amazon is ramping up its speedy delivery service by offering 1-hour and 3-hour shipping in markets across the U.S., including Los Angeles and Chicago, in its latest efforts to stave off e-commerce competition from its biggest rival Walmart. Fast delivery has been a significant part of Amazon's push to increase basket sizes and shopping frequency. The company in December announced a separate service called "Amazon Now" to deliver grocery items and everyday essentials in 30 minutes or less in select locations including Seattle and Philadelphia. "We saw an opportunity to use our unique operational expertise and delivery network to help make customers’ lives a little easier while unlocking even more value for Prime members,” Amazon Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations Udit Madan said in a press release. The Seattle-based e-commerce giant said on Tuesday that its 1-hour delivery option is available on more than 90,000 products, including everyday essentials, toys and toilet paper, and will rely on its existing same-day delivery network. The 60-minute option has launched in major U.S. metropolitan areas and smaller cities like Boise, Idaho. The 3-hour option has launched in more than 2,000 cities and towns. Perishable groceries are available in select areas, Amazon said. To ensure the 1-hour and 3-hour orders are fulfilled in a shorter amount of time, Amazon introduced designated work stations for these orders within existing same-day delivery centers, new yellow labels that are placed on the packages for easy identification and updated signage throughout the site to easily direct delivery partners, the company said. Using the high-speed delivery comes at an extra fee. Prime members pay an extra $9.99 for 1-hour delivery and $4.99 for 3-hour delivery. Shoppers without Prime memberships pay $19.99 for 1-hour orders and $14.99 for 3-hour deliveries. (Reporting by Arriana McLymore in New York Ci...

In the American West, passing a semiconductor plant has a slightly surreal quality. The buildings in Boise, Idaho, the birthplace of Micron Technology, don’t exude hype or disruption. They are practical, low-lying, and nearly silent. However, engineers are developing memory chips inside that could influence the next stage of artificial intelligence if present trends continue. One story is revealed by the numbers. Another is conveyed by the mood. Micron appears to be riding a wave that feels both earned and a little risky, as evidenced by its recent earnings, which increased dramatically with revenue exceeding $13 billion in a single quarter. It appears that investors think this is more than a brief surge. However, the question of how much of this momentum is Micron’s own and how much is just the AI boom lifting everything in its path remains. Category Details Company Micron Technology Founded 1978 Headquarters Boise, Idaho Industry Semiconductor (Memory & Storage) Key Products DRAM, NAND Flash, HBM (High-Bandwidth Memory) Market Role One of the world’s top 3 memory chip producers Competitors Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix Recent Revenue ~$13.6B (Q1 FY2026) Growth Driver AI data centers, cloud infrastructure Reference https://www.micron.com It is difficult to overlook the demand side. Almost silently, data centers with servers that run nonstop are growing throughout regions like Northern Virginia and portions of Texas. They require a lot of memory. Micron’s high-bandwidth memory and DRAM are suddenly in short supply. Prices are increasing, sometimes dramatically. This imbalance—supply falling short of demand—might last longer than many anticipated. However, the semiconductor sector has a distinct memory. It recalls cycles. Bust, then boom. Micron has experienced that rhythm more than most. A few years ago, the business had to deal with weak demand and falling prices. It is currently selling out of some products until 2026. As this change takes place, it seems as thoug...
