If you're willing to take a long-term perspective, then there are plenty of good crypto buying opportunities right now. In some cases, major cryptocurrencies are trading at steep 70%, 80%, and even 90% discounts to their all-time highs. Just keep in mind: the crypto market is highly cyclical, trading in four-year boom-and-bust cycles. So don't expect the price of any cryptocurrency to go straight up. With that in mind, here are three cryptocurrencies to buy right now for long-term investors. Bitcoin Let's start with the obvious pick: Bitcoin (BTC 2.72%). Bitcoin is typically the first cryptocurrency in any portfolio, and for good reason. For much of its history, Bitcoin has been one of the top-performing assets in the world. In fact, in seven of the past 14 years, Bitcoin has turned in triple-digit percentage gains. Bitcoin has been on an absolutely epic run during the past decade, increasing in price from $100 in April 2013 to $100,000 in December 2024. Where else can you find an asset capable of soaring in price by 1,000-fold in such a short period of time? Although historical performance is no guarantee of future returns, there's plenty of reason to think that Bitcoin still has plenty of fuel left in its tank. After all, the pace of institutional adoption of Bitcoin continues to grow at a rapid clip, and Wall Street continues to introduce new financial products tied to the price of Bitcoin. At the same time, Bitcoin now has solid support in Washington, where the White House has promised to make Bitcoin central to its pro-crypto strategy. The creation of a new Strategic Bitcoin Reserve in March 2025 was just the start. So, if you're willing to buy and hold for a minimum of five years, you could see some truly extraordinary returns from Bitcoin. Many investors and enthusiasts suggest that Bitcoin could hit a price of $1 million sometime before 2030. And some have already said that a single Bitcoin could be worth upward of $20 million within the next two decades. So...

Three months into 2026, and Bitcoin (BTC 3.03%) is still trading near the $70,000 price level. That's almost the same price that it was trading at on Election Day 2024. If a pro-crypto, pro-Bitcoin administration can't push Bitcoin higher, then what can? For some, this lackluster performance over the past 12 months is proof positive that it might be too late to invest in Bitcoin. Unfortunately, you missed out on Bitcoin's historic run over the past decade, and it's time to look elsewhere for investment opportunities, right? Wrong. Bitcoin's four-year cycle We've seen this picture before with Bitcoin. The world's most popular cryptocurrency has never gone straight up in price. Instead, it trades in four-year cycles of boom and bust. There are typically three years of boom, followed by one year of bust. After every period of bust, critics have been quick to declare that Bitcoin is dead. Yet each time, it has demonstrated remarkable resilience -- rebounding from adversity and reaching new highs. In the previous cycle, for example, Bitcoin hit a price of $69,000 in November 2021 before cratering in value. By the end of 2022, it was trading for just $16,000, and many gave up on it entirely. But then the next cycle started, and the price of Bitcoin exploded. It hit $100,000 at the end of 2024, and traded as high as $126,000 last year. Of course, there are no guarantees here, but we've now seen several Bitcoin cycles, and each one has largely followed the same pattern. Bitcoin may dip still lower in 2026, but it will likely climb higher next year, on its way to hitting a new all-time high. In fact, some investors, including Cathie Wood of Ark Invest, think Bitcoin could hit $1 million by 2030. Institutional adoption o...

The Philippines has allowed the temporary and limited use of a cheaper but dirtier type of fuel to ensure supply as it finds ways to cope with the impact of the Middle East crisis. The Department of Energy (DOE) said only vehicles from model year 2015 and earlier, traditional jeepneys, power plants and generators, and the marine and shipping sectors would be allowed to use Euro-II compliant petroleum products. “The measure is intended to help maintain a continuous, adequate and accessible fuel supply, while allowing limited flexibility for sectors that may be affected,” the DOE said in a statement. Advertisement It ordered oil companies that will be offering Euro-II fuels to maintain segregation from Euro IV across storage, transport and retail systems. Manila switched to cleaner Euro-IV compliant fuels from Euro-II in 2016. Euro-IV fuels, which remain in force, have sulphur content of 50 parts per million (ppm) versus 500 ppm for Euro-II fuels. Advertisement Last week, thousands of jeepney drivers took to the streets across the country to protest a more than doubling of local diesel prices after global oil prices surged because of the US-Israel war on Iran.

Valerie Loiseleux/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images An opinion that I have had for quite some time now is that one of the best companies in the world is The Walt Disney Company ( DIS ). It is a high-quality company that has an immersive ecosystem that generates significant value for shareholders. Although the stock price has been volatile in recent years, the overall trajectory that the business is on is promising. However, it is difficult to truly appreciate the kind of business that we are dealing with. After all, Disney should be viewed as an ecosystem as opposed to a standalone firm. It has ownership interests in theme parks, television stations, video content, cruise ships, streaming platforms that stand at the pinnacle of the streaming space, retail stores, and so much more. But one of the most intriguing parts of the business has got to be its Sports segment. This includes, amongst other things, its ownership interest in ESPN. And even though I myself am not much of a sports fan, I cannot deny that it is a massive global market that adds value to shareholders. In my last article about Disney, I reaffirmed it as a ‘strong buy’ candidate. But I do think that, when analyzing the overall health of the business, one thing that is often overlooked is the role that sports play in its value proposition. Management has been making some interesting moves in that direction. This includes certain financial transactions that pave the way for additional upside. And when you add on top of this all the other positives about the company, it is the one firm that if I were to go into a coma tomorrow, knowing I would not wake up for 20 years, I would most want my money tied up in it. A Massive Sports Ecosystem Over the past several years now , Disney has really sought to reinvent itself. This has included making changes to its operating segments from time to time. This does complicate analyzing the company. But the good news is that we have enough consistent data to paint a pic...

Key Points Social Security benefits can be taxed if your combined income reaches specific thresholds. However, you can take some actions to lower how much taxes you'll owe. The $23,760 Social Security bonus most retirees completely overlook › If this article's headline piqued your curiosity, I won't keep you in suspense. You need to read this article if your Social Security benefit is above $25,000 if you're a single tax filer. If you file taxes jointly with your spouse, the magic number rises to $32,000. Why should you continue reading? Because you could have to pay taxes if your benefits are at those levels -- and this article will give you tips on how you might lower how much you have to pay. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » If your Social Security benefit is lower than these thresholds, should you stop reading now? Nope. I'll explain why. Social Security tax thresholds Those thresholds of $25,000 and $32,000 actually aren't for Social Security benefits. Instead, your benefit amount is used in a formula that the IRS uses to determine if you owe taxes on your Social Security benefits. This formula is: Combined income = Adjusted gross income (AGI) + nontaxable interest + 50% of your Social Security benefit If your only source of income is Social Security, your combined income will be based solely on your Social Security benefits. Share Updated at 11.14 GMT 4m ago 11.11 GMT Louise Taylor Eddie Howe has asked his Newcastle players to approach the Tyne-Wear derby as if “their lives depend on winning it”. Howe is desperate to end not merely his club’s 10-game winless run in league meetings with Sunderland but avenge the December defeat at the Stadium of Light when Nick Woltemade’s spectacular own goal gave Régis Le Bris’s side victory. While much may be contingent on the psychological fallout of Newcastle’s 7-2 Champions League defeat at Barcelona on Wednesday night, injuries could also shape the outcome. While Howe is hoping Sandro Tonali can overcome a groin problem, Le Bris waits to see whether a raft of key players in Robin Roefs, Nordi Mukiele, Dan Ballard, Reinildo and Enzo Le Fée will be fit to start at St James’ Park. Goals have not exactly been free-flowing for Sunderland in recent weeks but their manager can only be heartened by Newcastle’s failure to keep a clean sheet in all but five of their last 35 games. I have spent the last 35 years trading, researching, and constructing algorithms to identify and leverage the value across fundamental, technical, and behavioral finance models. Of the ten portfolio models designed for optimal portfolio mixes for members to beat the market at Value & Momentum Breakouts , eight come from enhancing well-tested anomaly research in published financial journals. Echoes Of 2022: Bear Bounces As ETF Signal Portfolio Leads S&P 500 By Over 23% As I shared since last year and last month in my caution articles about the coming rotation to value and major weakness in the mega cap giants, I also am under no illusion that 2026 is identical to 2022. However, I believe we can continue to profit with anticipation of many strong similarities but for very different reasons. Find your next quality investment with Simply Wall St's easy and powerful screener, trusted by over 7 million individual investors worldwide. Apple reports a 23% surge in China smartphone sales, outpacing a declining market. The company is expanding share by using e-commerce discounts and qualifying the base iPhone 17 for government subsidies. Apple is absorbing higher memory chip costs instead of raising prices, supporting its competitive position in the region. For investors tracking NasdaqGS:AAPL, this shift in China comes at a time when the stock is priced at $247.99 and has returned 14.1% over the past year and 110.1% over five years. The move to win share in a shrinking China smartphone market highlights how important pricing, supply relationships, and product mix can be for one of Apple's key regions. China remains central to Apple's global story, both as a demand center and as part of its supply chain. How the company manages subsidies, discounting, and component costs here could shape expectations about its long-term reach in other price-sensitive markets and its competitive footing against local brands.
