Benchmark Brent crude prices jumped more than 2 percent to $109 a barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning of strikes on power plants. Iran said it would attack Israel's power plants and plants supplying U.S. bases in the Gulf if Trump carries out his threat to "obliterate" Iran's power network. Since late February, Iran has effectively restricted access to the waterway, through which around 20 percent of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) flows. The pan European Stoxx 600 plummeted 1.74 percent to 563.31 after tumbling 1.8 percent on Friday. The call by the Association of Commercial Television and Video ‌on Demand Services in Europe (ACT) whose members include Canal+, RTL, Mediaset, ITV, Paramount+, NBCUniversal, Walt Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, Sky and TF1 Groupe comes amid ​mounting concerns among broadcasters over Big Tech's encroachment into their industry as they push back against their rivals. Android TV, which increased its market share from 16% to 23% from 2019 to 2024, Amazon Fire OS whose market share rose from 5% to 12% in the same period and Samsung's Tizen OS with its 24% market share should be designated as gatekeepers under the EU's ‌Digital Markets Act, the broadcasters said, citing ⁠data from a 2025 market study. The DMA, applicable since 2023, sets out obligations aimed at curbing the power of major tech companies, boosting competition and expanding consumer choice. Cadeler’s ( CADLF ) operations & maintenance ( O&M arm), Nexra, has confirmed a new firm agreement to provide maintenance services for two Taiwanese offshore wind farms through 2026, following a recent string of contract wins. The campaign will support two offshore wind farms in Taiwan using Cadeler's vessel Wind Maker, which was delivered last year. The contract is with an undisclosed, is expected to run for approximately 3-4 months. The deal marks the second recent O&M award for the vessel in the region. Nexra, Cadeler’s O&M service platform, was created in 2025 to meet the rising demands of the offshore wind market. Long before then, no one had ever held the hand of its chief character, a young painter called Wyeth – not even his mother. In the doldrums, he recalls a conversation with a printmaker who extolled lithography because the images it produces reveal the strength and dexterity of an artist’s fingers: human marks. Poring through a company’s digital files, he has a near-seizure when he comes across a handwritten ledger: “There was something almost romantic about the curves of the numbers, elegant and swooping.” Wyeth was born in Virginia, a state where, within living memory, Black farmhands developed cancer because they weren’t given gloves to pick the tobacco that would later poison their blood. Now this screenwriting powerhouse of British movie entertainment has adapted and modernised Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree books from the late 1930s and 40s – all about a huge enchanted tree whose branches are a canopy of magical wonder. The result is a thoroughly likable and sweet-natured family fantasy film for the Easter holidays, with acres of innocent jollity and eccentric quirkiness. This film distils the Blytonesque spirit of adventure and outdoorsy fun – it comes from that lost time in which climbing trees was something that children all naturally did – and transfers it to a new world in which all generations are longing to escape electronic devices and AI. But Barnaby and the director Ben Gregor graft in a new dimension of comedy and flights of fancy with black-belt character turns from a terrific cast (including Farnaby himself as a comedy farmer) and some grade-A gags. And no wonder: inscribed on them are intimate flashes of the people we knew and loved When Hartlepool council announced last week that it wouldn’t be accepting any new applications for memorial benches as it had too many already, it joined a growing list of towns and parks that are increasingly unable to cope with the demand. In an era when social media memorial pages are commonplace and potentially infinite, what is driving this desire to commemorate a loved one in a physical space? The popularity of memorial benches certainly gives the lie to the assumption that we live in a post-material world. It also signals a change in the way that we grieve. Memorial benches speak of a need to mourn not just behind closed doors but also in public – a shift to which digital culture has probably contributed, and which manifests particularly strongly in secular countries where mourning isn’t mediated through the church. If any film can make me feel like a teenager again, it’s Everybody Wants Some!! I first saw it when it came out in 2016 (making basically no money at the box office, which is a shame), and I’ve watched it at least once a year since. Serving as a spiritual sequel to Richard Linklater’s earlier film Dazed and Confused, it’s set in 1980 and follows Jake (Blake Jenner), a quiet and naive baseball player, in the few days before he starts college. He moves into campus housing with his new teammates, each of whom were the star prospects in their schools. Jake’s teammates, played by actors like Wyatt Russell and Tyler Hoechlin, are all excellent in their roles and their chemistry shines through on screen. That’s probably because before filming started, the actors hung out with each other for three weeks on Linklater’s ranch. I respect the movie industry’s ongoing commitment to making Glen Powell happen, and that started here with a solid supporting role as one of Jake’s teammates, Finnegan. In interviews, Powell has named this film as his first big break. The film shows Jake finding his people immediately; he’s singing along to Rapper’s Delight with the guys within an hour of meeting them and is joining in with their jokes and repartee not long afterwards. Sure, he goes through a couple of hazing rituals (like being tricked into doing a sit-up into someone’s sweaty undercarriage) but it’s all in good fun and there’s no permanent damage. Powell’s character sums it up nicely: “You accept your chumpification, wear it well and pass it on.” Sure enough, Jake helps to pull the same prank on someone else seconds later. Because it’s a film full of jocks always playing pranks and competing with each other, it’s easy to write off Everybody Wants Some!! as just another testosterone-filled buddy comedy, a film that Mark Kermode described as “Porky’s shot by an A-list director”. Given the general selloff in transportation stocks, I decided to see if there was now value in this sector. However, with regard to Daimler Truck Holding AG ( DTRUY ) ( DTGHF ), I maintain my Sell Rating of July 12, 2024. I. Why I Am Long-Term Bearish on the Sector? It was a good call to recommend going underweight the sector in the spring of 2024 when I rated PACCAR and Volvo as Sells, and Daimler Truck as a Hold. I note that at the time, in my opinion, Traton's ADR did not have sufficient liquidity to be investable. In any case, on July 12, 2025, I changed my rating on Daimler Truck to a Sell. Although its Total Return of 12.5% was lower than the 21.5% the S&P 500 ( SP500 ) had returned, it was the best performer of the three companies I had analyzed the year before. PACCAR had returned -7.8% versus a positive return of 20.7% for the S&P 500, and Volvo had a Total Return of 5.9% versus 17.3% for the overall market. Since rating Daimler as a Sell, it's since had a negative Total Return (-2.47%) versus the S&P 500's 4.02% increase. It should be noted that from the summer of 2025 until the end of January 2026, both PACCAR and Volvo significantly outperformed the market, although, as can be seen from Graph 1, they have recently given up this outperformance. Her husband, John, was calling to tell her that their 12-year-old son, Emmet, had been hit by a car. "He said, 'You need to get here.' And I was like, 'Really? Okay, is it bad?' He said, 'Yeah. Yeah. It's bad,'" Angela Zodrow recounted. "I said. 'Is he breathing?' And John said, 'I don't want to lie to you.'" At first, Zodrow had a hard time processing what was happening. He happened to be in the wrong place at the exact moment a silver minivan jumped the curb, plowing across the sidewalk and through a metal fence, before coming to rest in a grassy lot. Balsa is a lightweight but strong wood that is commonly used in the core of giant turbine blades. It can make up around 7% of the blade and each set of three can use up to 40 trees. These inefficient, unreliable, unsightly monsters require a large footprint on land and sea, kill millions of bats, decimate raptor populations, sweep the air of quadrillions of insects and alter local ecology on both land and sea. Nobody would install one in a free market, so they require vast financial subsidies to produce expensive electricity. Given what is known about annual balsa production, the scale of illegal logging and the demands of wind turbine manufactures, it is not difficult to arrive at a possible Amazon forest yearly loss of over half a million trees. Most commercial balsa is exported by Ecuador and it has produced approximately 500,000 cubic metres annually in recent years, or about 80,000 metric tonnes. Around 55% of production is thought to end up in wind turbines and each group of three requires about 10.5m3 a set. Each set requires about 40 trees so annual balsa consumption for wind turbines equates to 1,047,619. Blackrock designed IOO to give investors access to 100 of the largest global stocks in a single fund. Its returns have outpaced the much broader MSCI World Index , which is more diversified both in terms of the number and the market capitalization of its holdings. This year has been a very different story for IOO. The elevated valuations for many of its stocks have made them targets for selling as market sentiment has turned more pessimistic. The conflict in the Middle East has brought out concerns for more than just oil prices, as global trade conflicts and inflation are increasing doubts about the future of global economic growth. These issues do not have a quick fix, making me much less optimistic about the prospects for a global growth fund that is heavily concentrated in a small number of companies. ETF Overview The iShares Global 100 ETF is designed to give investors exposure to some of the world's largest companies in the US and around the world. According to iShares, the fund provides international diversification while seeking long-term growth. As a passively managed fund, IOO is designed to track the investment results of the S&P Global 100 Index , which is composed of 100 large-capitalization global equities. The fund was started in 2000.
