Khosrork/iStock via Getty Images Main Thesis & Background The purpose of this article is to evaluate the BlackRock Taxable Municipal Bond Trust (NYSE: BBN ) as an investment option. This fund offers exposure to taxable municipal bonds, with an objective to "seek high current income, with a secondary objective of capital appreciation". I wrote about BBN in May so it has been roughly ten months since my last article. At that time I saw value and believed a "buy" rating was appropriate. Looking back on this, it was a reasonable call. The market is up overall during this time period and BBN has also held up reasonably well: Fund Performance (Seeking Alpha) Quite a bit has changed in the world since Q2 2025, so I felt an update on this CEF was due. Fortunately for current and prospective owners of the fund, I continue to see value here. BBN has a nice discount to NAV, which compares favorably to other options in this space. Further, the yield curve has a sharp uptick for (taxable) muni securities after seven years, and that is mainly what BBN owns. Finally, equity volatility has risen, which makes hedges all the more valuable. For these reasons, I believe a "buy" rating is still the right call, and I will dig into the reasons why in detail below. The Valuation Story Is Positive All Around One of the primary reasons for my continued bullishness on BBN has to do with valuation. Those who follow my work regularly should know this doesn't come as a surprise. I like CEFs at a discount, rather than paying a premium, and view relative value as critical for new entry points. On those boxes, BBN has a favorable backdrop. At the time of my last review, the fund had a discount around 5%. Larger institutions were equally forceful in securing protection and wagering with bearish conviction based on Barchart’s scanning and Options Flow features. The S&P 500 broke and finished just beneath its 200-day simple moving average. It’s the first technical breach of this well-watched indicator since March 2025 when Wall Street was panicking over tariffs and trade wars. Today, Iran and surging oil prices have taken center stage. Also, the CBOE Volatility Index ($VIX) rallied 25% from Wednesday’s low of 21.47% to finish at 26.78%. The sharp rise in this gauge of investor behavior is just more than 10% from the market’s historically elevated 30% level. And amidst these worrying stats and bearish-looking technicals, Meta Platforms (META) and Super Micro Computer (SMCI) had a bit more fuel adding to their fiery and unusually active options activity. META Stock’s Deep ITM Put Activity Diversified tech giant Meta Platforms is the first stock whose unusual options activity grabbed my attention. Following Thursday’s session, a simple Barchart stock scanner that incorporates options trading statistics revealed META as one with which bears appeared to have an axe to grind. Activity in Meta’s calls and puts came in slightly more than double their 3-month average as volume swelled to 1.025 million contracts. Getty Images The economy is going through a once-in-a-generation energy infrastructure revolution, with hyperscaler tech companies pouring an expected $600 to $700 billion in total into AI infrastructure this year alone. Much of this will require enormous amounts of electrical power to fuel the AI boom. In fact, the IEA expects that the United States data center power consumption will surge by 133% by 2030. While certainly natural gas, coal, and other more traditional energy sources are going to provide the lion's share of the energy for this, many expect renewables to play a significant role as well. Yet, XPLR Infrastructure ( XIFR ), which is the third-largest independent producer of wind and solar energy in the US, trades at a steep discount to intrinsic value. Thus, I think that XIFR offers compelling long-term upside potential for investors who are willing to be patient. However, it will require patience, because it currently does not pay any dividend, it is not buying back any stock, and still has a messy balance sheet that it needs to clean up from years of over-aggressive growth investments during a period of near-zero interest rates that led to a catastrophic elimination of its distribution a year ago. Lululemon Athletica (LULU +1.12%) was once the envy of all athleisure retailers. The company set the standard for what was considered trendy, particularly among yoga practitioners and fitness buffs. From 2019 through 2023, the company's stock reflected this dominance, even reaching a peak of over $500 per share in late 2023. Since then, Lululemon has largely fallen out of favor with consumers, and the company is struggling to regain its footing. In January 2026, Lululemon's CEO, Calvin McDonald, left the role. The company has yet to name a permanent successor. The founder and former CEO of Lululemon, Chip Wilson, has been in a proxy battle with the company. Wilson has been vocal regarding his displeasure with the brand's performance and direction. Lululemon's stock has fallen about 50% over the past year. For investors who held on to their shares, the biggest question is whether the company has hit rock bottom yet and, if so, when the real recovery will begin. Lululemon at a crossroads Lululemon entered 2026 as a consumer discretionary company in the doldrums, searching for a path forward. The company had made a series of product missteps amid declining foot traffic in its North American stores. For the full fiscal year 2025, sales decreased 3%, and revenue in the Americas decreased 1%. International business is a bright spot in the beleaguered company. Throughout 2025, the company reported double-digit growth in international revenue. Lululemon's international net revenue increased 22% from the year prior, according to its full-year results released on March 17. Lululemon is also facing headwinds with increased competition and price-conscious consumers who don't feel the need to be loyal to any one particular apparel brand. Looking ahead through 2026, Lululemon anticipates net revenue growth of 2% to 4%. On the bright side, growth is still positive. The company has an intriguing business, as not only could it generate a lot of revenue in the future, but it may also be a potential acquisition target. It has an approved gene-editing therapy, Casgevy, and there's hope that CRISPR may obtain additional approvals in the future. This year, the healthcare stock is down 9% after recently announcing an offering. Could it be a bargain buy right now? The company recently completed a private offering On March 16, CRISPR announced that it completed a private offering of convertible senior notes, raising net proceeds of $585.2 million, which it will use for general corporate purposes. Issuing convertible notes is dilutive as they can be converted into equity in the future, and this offering has had a negative impact on CRISPR's share price; in the past month, the stock has declined by 12%. The offering also highlights the growing need for CRISPR to raise cash in order to grow its business. The company generated just $3.5 million in revenue last year (all from grants), and its net loss of $581.6 million grew from $366.3 million in the previous year. The company shares in the profits on Casgevy with its development partner, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, so despite the therapy generating $116 million in revenue last year, it didn't result in a big improvement on CRISPR's bottom line. They might be better than gas-powered cars in most conceivable ways, but electric vehicle sales are having an undeniably hard time right now. The cause is no mystery: since January 2025 the US government has been actively hostile to the idea of energy efficiency and in the intervening months has taken an axe to fuel efficiency regulations, prosecuting polluters, and the consumer-facing tax credit. That last one had the effect of bringing forward sales from people who needed an EV and knew the credit was expiring at the end of last September, leading to a rosy-looking Q3 2025 followed by a rather bad Q4. Things got even worse this year—in January just 5.1 percent of all new vehicles sold were EVs , compared to 8.3 percent in January 2025. But the government's antipathy toward EVs isn't done yet. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Sam Graves (R-Mo.) wants to include an annual $250 tax on EV drivers—hybrids would also pay $100 a year—in an upcoming bill. Shares have gradually come down, now having convincingly fallen below the $100 mark at levels in the high $80s. This and continued sales growth, in part aided by M&A efforts, are not too inspiring, as overall valuations are certainly non-demanding. Given this set-up, real value appears to be seen here, with investors arguably fearful about the impact of GLP-1 drugs on the business and adjusted earnings reported here. While these concerns are real, continued underlying growth and reasonable valuations should, over time, provide some real support to the investment thesis here. A Solid 2025 Zimmer just reported solid results for 2025, with total reported sales up 7% and change to $8.23 billion, with constant currency sales growth seen around 6%. On an organic basis, growth came in around 4%. Nearly 60% of the business takes place in the U nited States , with the company benefiting from a weaker dollar for the remaining international business. Organic growth was split pretty evenly across segments, with hips now being a $3.3 billion business, complemented by a $2.1 billion hip business and a $2.2 billion SET business, which is short for sports medicine, extremities, trauma, and others. All of this is complemented by a smaller $0.7 billion technology & data business. GAAP operating profits came in at $1.10 billion, with GAAP earnings of $705 million being equal to $3.55 per share. Maikel de Vaan/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) company, on Monday said it delivered an experimental UH-60MX Black Hawk helicopter to the U.S. Army following flight testing of an onboard autonomy system. The aircraft is equipped with Sikorsky’s Matrix autonomy suite and will be used by the Army to study operations that combine human pilots with automated flight capabilities. The program is part of a broader effort to develop aircraft that can operate with varying levels of human control. Platform builds on earlier Black Hawk modifications The UH-60MX is based on earlier Black Hawk models that have been adapted with fly-by-wire controls and optional piloting features. Sikorsky said similar configurations have accumulated hundreds of flight hours in prior testing with Army personnel. The Matrix system has been installed across multiple Black Hawk variants, including the UH-60A, UH-60L and UH-60M. According to the company, the MX aircraft represents the first version in the Army’s fleet that combines full fly-by-wire controls with optional piloting capability. Army to assess autonomy in operational scenarios The Army Combat Capabilities Development Command will use the aircraft to test how autonomous systems perform in operational conditions. The goal is to evaluate how aircraft can shift between crewed, optionally piloted and autonomous modes depending on mission requirements. Areas of focus include automated landing functions, obstacle avoidance and navigation in low-visibility environments. The system is also designed to reduce pilot workload by handling routine flight tasks.
