US natural gas futures fluctuated between slight gains and losses as traders factored another bearish weather forecast against rising oil prices, which have pulled up the US gas contract since the war in Iran began. Contracts for near-term US gas delivery have gone up and down alongside global oil and gas prices on financial flows rushing in and out of baskets of energy products, despite the war having almost no impact on domestic supply and demand for gas in the short run. “Gas remains straddling fundamentals on the weak side while still marginally tied to strength from the Iran war and energy complex,” said Darrell Fletcher , managing director of commodities at Bannockburn Capital Markets. peshkov/iStock via Getty Images U.S. energy stocks have posted solid gains through March 2026, with the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLE ) advancing approximately 6.9% so far this month amid oil price volatility as the war between U.S.-Israel-Iran escalated. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical flashpoint amplifying energy market volatility, as this narrow chokepoint between Iran and Oman handles roughly 20% of global oil flows and significant LNG shipments from Gulf producers. As the uncertainty of war persists through the market, below is a list of the best performing energy stocks in the past one month. The list includes companies across various energy subsectors, including oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing, equipment and services, and storage and transportation. The list is topped by Sable Offshore ( SOC ), with an impressive one-month performance of 77.44%. Venture Global ( VG ) follows closely with a 67.55% gain, while CVR Energy ( CVI ), Par Pacific Holdings ( PARR ), and APA Corporation ( APA ) round out the top five with gains ranging from 35.90% to 54.01%. The stocks on the list represent a variety of Quant Ratings, from Sell to Strong Buy. Notable Strong Buy ratings belong to Par Pacific Holdings ( PARR ) with a score of 4.79, PBF Energy ( PBF ) at 4.93, and ProPetro Holding ( PUMP ) also at 4.93, indicating high quantitative scores despite varying one-month price performances. marchmeena29/iStock via Getty Images Manager perspective and outlook In the fourth quarter, investment grade, high yield and taxable municipals delivered positive returns of 1.42%, 1.11% and 1.05%, with annual returns of 4.25%, 2.46% and 7.89%, respectively. 1 Despite a lengthy federal government shutdown, long-duration municipal bonds performed well during the quarter, bolstering market strength. 1 New municipal issuance reached $143 billion for the quarter and a record $584 billion for the year, surpassing last year's record $509 billion. Shifting interest rate policies, higher costs and political uncertainty likely encouraged more issuers to come to market. 1 Net flows for municipal mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were strong, totaling approximately $17.5 billion for the quarter and $52.4 billion for the year. 2 The US Federal Reserve (Fed) cut the federal funds rate twice, by 0.25% in October and 0.25% in December. The Fed reiterated its commitment to balancing maximum employment and a 2% inflation target. 3 We believe state and local municipal budgets remain healthy. While credit rating upgrades have moderated, upgrades outpaced downgrades in 2025, demonstrating to us strong fundamentals. 4 Our experienced credit research team continues to seek out market dislocations, uncovering opportunities to add value for shareholders. Looking ahead, we see attractive opportunities in municipals. With prospects for more Fed interest rate cuts, steady issuance and ongoing demand for tax-exempt income, we believe high absolute yields and solid fundamentals make municipals a compelling choice. In the popular video game Steal A Brainrot , the object is petty theft. But now that the internet is awash with knockoffs of the runaway Roblox Corp. hit, its makers are defending their turf. Since November, Steal A Brainrot developers Spyder Games and Speedy Simulator Gaming have filed at least four lawsuits against alleged imposters. In one case, a legal representative knocked on the door of the listed address for Bella Thomas, the owner of the website stealbrainrotio.io that hosts 12 allegedly nearly identical versions of the original game, to serve her with a legal complaint. A person at the Atlanta home wouldn’t open the door and refused to answer any questions, according to a legal motion filed in early March. “Ignoring me will not make this go away,” the plaintiffs’ general counsel wrote in a text to a number associated with Thomas, according to a complaint filed against her in San Francisco federal court. A representative for Spyder and Speedy declined to comment. Thomas didn’t respond to requests for comment. In a notice to Google to prevent her website from being removed from search results that was included in the legal filings, Thomas described the site as mainly an online game directory and asserted that it “does not infringe upon any copyright laws or violate any intellectual property rights.” Steal A Brainrot broke records last year after its launch, attracting as many as 24 million simultaneous players — roughly the population of Florida. In the game, players purchase colorful characters called brainrots as they march down a red carpet. You earn money as long as you keep the characters, but if someone steals your brainrot, the cash flow disappears. The object is to collect as many rare and valuable characters as possible, and to earn a pile of virtual cash. “That gameplay loop is addictive,” said Arturo Perez , chief executive officer of Kluge Interactive, which just published the Galaxy of Brainrots . “It’s very simple, but you can get stuck for hou...
