Bharti Airtel announced an investment of $1 billion by Alpha Wave Global , Carlyle Group and Anchorage Capital in Nxtra Data Ltd. , a subsidiary engaged in the data center business, India’s second-largest wireless carrier said Monday. Alpha Wave Global will invest $435 million, existing investor Carlyle $240 million, Anchorage Capital $35 million, with Airtel providing the remaining capital, according to a company statement. Airtel said the investment is aimed at spurring AI-data center expansion with Nxtra valued at $3.1 billion post the closure of the transaction. While final shareholdings will be subject to post-closing adjustments, Airtel will maintain a controlling stake in Nxtra. Executive Vice Chairman of Airtel, Gopal Vittal , said Nxtra possessed one of India’s most advanced and sustainable data center networks and the company was now looking to expand its footprint. “With 300 MW capacity today, we aim to scale to 1 GW in the next few years, targeting 25% market share,” he added. Nxtra intends to deploy proceeds from the fund infusion to scale its infrastructure and broaden its portfolio of services. The fresh investment into the company comes at a time when India’s population and fast-growing economy have made it a magnet for overseas investors and technology companies seeking scale. India’s data center capacity is projected to grow fivefold by 2030 to over 8 gigawatt, according to KPMG. In a report dated Dec. 15 last year, the consulting firm said this expansion is expected to generate more than $30 billion in capital expenditures. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd. , through its Digital Connexion venture, signed an $11 billion pact to build data centers at Visakhapatnam in November, while Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. secured $1 billion from TPG Inc. to accelerate its own efforts. Global players are also stepping up. Amazon.com Inc. plans to invest $12.7 billion on cloud infrastructure in India through 2030, while ChatGPT-creator OpenAI is seeki...

Iran Arrests Dozens In Starlink Black Market Network Bloomberg cites Iran's ISNA news agency, which says local authorities have arrested dozens of people for selling SpaceX Starlink terminals across 19 provinces. These satellite internet terminals have become popular among opposition and activist networks operating in the country amid an ongoing nationwide internet blackout during the U.S.-Iran conflict. Sardar Ahmad-Reza Radan, commander-in-chief of the Iranian police, was quoted by the outlet as saying, " From the beginning of the Ramadan War, 48 key members of networks, cells, anti-revolutionary groups, and espionage rings were arrested, and 139 Starlink devices were also discovered ." سردار رادان: از ابتدای جنگ رمضان ۴۸ نفر از عناصر اصلی شبکهها، هستهها، گروهکهای ضد انقلاب و جاسوسی بازداشت شدند و ۱۳۹ دستگاه استارلینک نیز کشف شده است https://t.co/aXibi8kDKA pic.twitter.com/IVHueV69xu — خبرگزاری ایسنا (@isna_farsi) March 30, 2026 With the U.S.-Iran conflict entering its second month , the internet-tracking firm NetBlocks reported earlier that Iran has been under an internet blackout for over 720 hours. ⚠️ Update: It has now been over 720 hours since #Iran fell off the global internet with the digital blackout entering its 31st day. As the shutdown continues into its second month, misinformation and propaganda increasingly fill the void both domestically and internationally. pic.twitter.com/pz5SNzFYiD — NetBlocks (@netblocks) March 30, 2026 Before the conflict broke out, there were reports that U.S.-aligned activist NGOs had smuggled in thousands of these satellite terminals to evade a ground-based internet blackout designed to stop the flow of information and prevent widespread uprisings. A Starlink terminal connects to a satellite in low Earth orbit that beams internet hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away from ground-based repeaters in surrounding countries. What we see is a correction going on. It doesn’t seem to have the makings of a broader systemic event.” Powell noted private credit was a relatively small slice of the asset pool and that the Fed was watching it "super carefully." armano777/iStock via Getty Images As a self-described foodie, I always love digging into food-oriented businesses. To be honest with you, I don't do it nearly enough. Maybe if I spent more time analyzing food companies, instead of eating, I would be thinner. But here we are. One business in this space that I have found to be intriguing is none other than The Simply Good Foods Company ( SMPL ), a $1.33 billion consumer packaged food and beverage company that focuses on nutritious snacking. In the past, when I have written about the company, I have dug into its unique revenue streams. So redoing that now would just be redundant. But in short, the company offers up its products that include ready to drink protein shakes, sweet and salty protein snacks, confessionary items, protein bars, and the like, through major brand names such as Quest, Atkins, and OWYN. In my last article about the company, published in September of 2025, I made the decision to reaffirm it as a 'hold' candidate. This was based on the valuation of the company, which placed it in the fair value range as I saw it. And compared to some other similar firms, the stock was actually a bit lofty. Since then, weak financial performance has sent the share price plummeting 44.5%. This is at a time when the S&P 500 is down just 0.9%. In my previous article, I argued that another 10% to 20% drop in the company's share price would likely justify an upgrade. And even though I acknowledge that fundamentals have worsened, I actually believe that shares are now cheap enough to do just that. Because of this, I am upgrading it to a soft 'buy' at this time. Of course, my opinion could change as new data comes in. The good news is that new data is just around the corner. Before the market opens on April 9th, the management team at The Simply Good Foods Company is expected to announce financial results covering the second quarter of the company's 2026 fiscal year. Revenue and earnings are both forecasted to fall. But the...

Check out the companies making the biggest moves in midday trading: Fannie Mae , Freddie Mac — Shares of the mortgage financing companies rallied after Pershing Square Capital Management's Bill Ackman said in an X post late Sunday that the stocks are "stupidly cheap." The billionaire investor suggested shares could rise 10-fold. Shares of Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage (Freddie Mac) rose more than 30% each in trading Monday. Boston Scientific — The medical device company's stock tumbled more than 9% after Raymond James downgraded it to outperform from strong buy as it cut estimates below Wall Street's consensus. The firm said trends are weakening in its key growth areas. Palo Alto Networks — Shares of the cybersecurity developer jumped more than 7% after CEO Nikesh Arora disclosed Friday that he purchased $10 million worth of shares on the open market. United Therapeutics — The pharmaceutical company's stock rose nearly 13%, hitting a 52-week high, after it reported upbeat phase 3 clinical trial results for Tyvaso, its main product. United Therapeutics said it would seek a priority review from the Food and Drug Administration to expand the drug's label to include idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive lung disease. Tyvaso already treats two forms of high blood pressure in the lungs. Alternative asset managers — The Department of Labor proposed a rule that would allow 401(k) plans to more easily include alternative assets such as cryptocurrency, real estate and private market assets. The news sent shares of alternative asset managers higher. Blackstone and Carlyle gained more than 4%, while Blue Owl and Apollo Global added more than 3%. Sysco — The wholesale food distributor fell more than 11% after it agreed to buy Jetro Restaurant Depot for a total enterprise value of $29.1 billion. The deal is expected to close in Sysco's 2027 fiscal third quarter, with the company calling the transaction "immediately accret...

Earnings Call Insights: PDS Biotechnology Corporation (PDSB) Q4 2025 Management View Frank Bedu-Addo, President, CEO & Director, detailed that "the fourth quarter of 2025 capped a period of important progress for PDS Biotech, marked by meaningful advances across our clinical programs, along with financial discipline and expansion of our intellectual property portfolio." He emphasized that the VERSATILE-003 protocol amendment is expected to "create a more efficient path to accelerated approval, shortening the trial's duration, reducing costs and accelerating our time line to regulatory submission, while preserving overall survival as the basis for full approval." Bedu-Addo highlighted promising early results from the National Cancer Institute-led trial of PDS01ADC, with a median progression-free survival of 9.6 months and a median PSA decline of 40% in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients, reinforcing the pipeline's potential. The CEO reported strengthened intellectual property for PDS0101, with new patents in the U.S. and Japan, extending market protection into the 2040s. Kirk Shepard, Chief Medical Officer, explained the rationale for amending VERSATILE-003: "With further increase of the final median overall survival readout from 30 months to 39.3 months in the VERSATILE-002 trial and demonstration of the robustness of the PFS results, we felt we had an opportunity to revise the clinical design to enable a potentially faster readout and opportunity for accelerated approval using PFS as a primary endpoint." Lars Boesgaard, Principal Financial & Accounting Officer and CFO, stated: "Net loss for the year ended December 31, 2025, was approximately $34.5 million or $0.74 per basic and diluted share, which compares to a net loss of $37.6 million or $1.03 per basic and diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2024." Outlook Management indicated that the VERSATILE-003 trial amendment is expected to "shorten the time to regulatory submission while m...

Techa Tungateja/iStock via Getty Images The first month of the Iran war It has been a month since the US/Israel bombing campaign started against Iran. After the initially successful Phase 1 with decapitation of Iranian leadership, the war transitioned to Phase 2 as Iran retailed. Iran's strategy is to impose global economic pain by causing a spike in price on oil, and other commodities, by closing the Strait of Hormuz and attacking the regional energy infrastructure. After the first month of war, the Iran's strategy is starting to work. The price of WTI Oil ( CL1:COM ) is at $100/level and appears to be ready to continue spiking as the war continues. The stock market is starting to selloff more aggressively, with Nasdaq 100 ( QQQ ) already in a 10% correction, and the selloff in the S&P 500 ( SP500 ) accelerating. Globally, interest rates have risen, and Central Banks are expected to start increasing policy rates. The first data for March is showing an unfolding stagflationary shock , based on ISM Flash reports. Due to its' inability to open the Strait of Hormuz, it looks like the US is moving towards the Phase 3 of the war - ground invasion to open the Strait of Hormuz by force. If the US proceeds with the ground invasion, the war is likely to become very costly as it drags on - the US administration is already asking got for another $200B in war funding. The Bond market reaction The bond market reaction is the key for investors looking to assess the real effects of the war on broad financial markets. Specifically, the risk is stagflation. That means, the oil price shock is expected to cause higher inflation, via different channels (higher gas price, fertilizers, food, other oil derivative produces, electricity, natural gas...). At the same time, growth is expected to slow, and eventually turn negative, due to inflationary pressures. The Fed might need to hike. Before the war, the Federal Funds futures were pricing two Fed cuts in 2026, as the policy normalization ...

That complicates the recycling process and reduces the quality of recycled paper. Now, German researchers at four Fraunhofer institutes have developed an alternative process that can seal paper packaging without glue or plastic using a process involving a carbon monoxide laser. The new system, currently called the Papure project, leverages the expertise of the Fraunhofer institutes, each of which focuses on areas such as polymer research, engineering and packaging, and las … Read the full story at The Verge.

fstop123/E+ via Getty Images Opendoor Technologies Inc.'s ( OPEN ) stock has come under pressure in recent months as some of the optimism about its turnaround has worn off. This is not surprising, as I previously suggested that while Opendoor's turnaround strategy sounded reasonable in theory, it would likely prove difficult to implement successfully. It is too early to see any meaningful improvements in the business, but buying has ramped up significantly in recent weeks, which will test the turnaround narrative in coming quarters. In particular, scaling acquisitions and reducing pricing spreads is a risky move in a faltering housing market. While I believe weak fundamentals and an elevated valuation create downside risk, Opendoor's balance sheet positions it to weather an extended period of weakness. This makes Opendoor an unattractive short, particularly now that it is something of a meme stock. Market Conditions While the macro environment remains fairly stable, the housing market is still depressed. Transaction volumes are low, and prices are starting to come under pressure. While indices generally show that home prices in the U nited States continue to increase, the market is not liquid at the moment. Median home sale prices have been declining, with the market shifting towards more affordable housing (smaller, less desirable locations, etc.). Price growth generally continues to weaken, though, and with rates potentially moving higher and the labor market weakening, there is material downside risk. Figure 1: Median Home Sale Price Growth in the US (source: created by author using data from The Federal Reserve) Opendoor believes that its new operating model (increased turnover, Cash Plus) reduces exposure in a market downturn. It will be difficult to maintain velocity without sacrificing price in a true downturn, though, and even fairly small adverse price movements would wipe out Opendoor's gross profits. I don't consider competition to be a particularly impor...

The great old warhorse of British boxing, who faces his 50th and final bout on Saturday, reflects on retirement, Deontay Wilder and his friendship with the Reform leader “Nigel’s here,” Derek Chisora says as he gives me a nudge when we walk into a restaurant called Boisdale in Belgravia. The great old warhorse of British boxing and I have been ambling around this stretch of London in search of a place where we can sit down and talk. He settles on Boisdale, which tags itself as “a British restaurant” and “a carnivore’s delight”. Even though we are not dropping in for lunch Chisora has enough of a swagger to blag us a private room to chat. We look more ragged than the diners, including Nigel Farage, and I’m not sure that the seemingly bewildered staff have a clear idea who Chisora is but we sweep through the restaurant, climb the stairs and find ourselves in a discreet room. After Chisora orders a bottle of water for us to share he asks the waiter to let Farage know that he is here. Continue reading...

US President Donald Trump repeated threats to destroy Iranian energy assets if the Strait of Hormuz isn’t reopened soon, raising fears of a further escalation amid soaring energy prices and a mounting economic toll from the war. The US “is in serious discussions” with Iran to end military operations, Trump said in a social-media post today as more American troops arrived in the region. But if a deal isn’t reached and Hormuz reopened, “we will conclude our lovely “stay” in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!).” There is no sign of a lull in the war. Iran’s intense ballistic missile attacks on Gulf targets is beginning to drain those countries’ pre-war stockpile of interceptors. Meanwhile there’s growing exasperation with how the war is dragging on. Group of Seven finance and energy officials urged today against export controls on hydrocarbons and pledged to take “all necessary measures” to “preserve the stability and security of the energy market.” G-7 central banks are committed to price stability amid rising inflation pressures, they added after holding a meeting by video link. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi appealed to Trump to find a way to end hostilities , which has pushed the country of 110 million to dim the lights early to conserve energy. “I’m saying to President Trump, no one can stop the war in our region, in the Gulf, except for you,” El-Sisi said told an energy conference in Cairo. “Please help us end the war,” he added. “You are capable of that.” What You Need to Know Today German inflation accelerated sharply in March after the Iran war boosted energy costs, supporting the idea that the European Central Bank will have to raise interest rates. Consumer prices rose 2.8% from a year ago — faster than February’s 2% advance. That’s the highest level in more than a year. Separately, a gauge of inflation expectations of euro-area c...
