daboost/iStock via Getty Images Ultrapar Participações ( UGP ) up 4.1% in Wednesday's trading as crude oil prices surge and Bank of America upgrades shares of the Brazilian conglomerate to Buy from Neutral with a $7.40 price target, raised from $6.80, expecting Q2 results will serve as a major catalyst, driven by record-high margins and strong free cash flow generation. BofA analysts led by Leonardo Marcondes see room for upward consensus revisions in H2, as imported diesel prices above Petrobras support a more favorable margin environment than currently reflected in market expectations. Two key overhangs on Ultrapar's ( UGP ) investment case have eased recently, the bank says: the potential acquisition of a stake in Rumo, and the risk of government intervention in the LPG distribution segment. On the former, recent newsflow suggests Ultrapar has withdrawn its bid for Rumo, alleviating concerns around capital allocation, and on the latter, ANP has suspended the LPG reform process, preserving the strong profitability of Ultragaz, BofA says. With strong operating performance, no major acquisitions on the horizon, and a deleveraged balance sheet, BofA believes Ultrapar ( UGP ) is well positioned to prioritize shareholder returns through higher dividends and/or buybacks. David Gyung/iStock via Getty Images The iShares International Select Dividend ETF ( IDV ) had a stellar run that biases its returns charts when you compare it against broad US market benchmarks like the S&P 500. In the past 3 years only, the total returns from IDV have been ~93%—well ahead of even the tech-led extraordinary bull run that propelled the S&P 500 by ~77%. More than half the gains in IDV happened in 2025, though, and it has been quietly underperforming since the early 2026 highs. Data by YCharts A good part of the lift in 2025 had to do with a weaker dollar compared to the euro (where most of IDV's exposure lies). The 2026 slowdown (past 3-4 months) is not an opportunity to get into fresh positions with IDV in my view—it's more an indication of the regime ahead. The FX tailwind was a one-time lever around the April 2025 tariff sell-off. The latest trend is that of a rising dollar, in fact, which means the 2025 heroics are less reliable on that front. The earnings or multiple-led portfolio appreciation thesis remains but relies on the financials-heavy exposure working in an ECB hiking cycle. That is not a given late in the high rates cycle as credit and growth concerns come into the picture. The valuations remain still supportive, though, at a portfolio-level P/E of ~13x. The diversification and valuation-led use cases still mean IDV is a Hold , but new drivers of total returns are not really visible strongly at this point. And the ~5.4% yield (on a TTM basis) is supportive but subdued after a strong run-up in prices and not enough to offset for downside risks. The yield is inflated by an outlier dividend delivered in Q2 2026, barring which the yield is closer to ~4.5% over the last twelve months (ex-Q2 2026). For a fund that has often seen yields upwards of 6%, that is not a strong income thesis in terms of timing either. OpenAI on Wednesday launched GPT-Live , a pair of new voice models that fundamentally redesign how people talk to ChatGPT — replacing the company's existing Advanced Voice Mode with an architecture that can listen and speak simultaneously, much like an actual human conversation. The two models, GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini , are rolling out globally starting today across iOS, Android, and ChatGPT.com. GPT-Live-1 becomes the default voice model for paid ChatGPT users on the Go, Plus, and Pro tiers, while GPT-Live-1 mini serves free-tier users. OpenAI also plans to bring the models to the API, and developers can sign up to be notified. The release marks the third generation of ChatGPT's voice technology in roughly two years — and OpenAI's clearest bid yet to turn its chatbot into something that feels less like querying a search engine and more like talking to a colleague. Why full-duplex voice changes everything about talking to AI The defining technical advance in GPT-Live is what OpenAI calls a " full-duplex architecture ." In telecommunications, full-duplex means both parties on a phone call can talk and listen at the same time. Applied to AI, it means the model continuously processes your incoming audio even while it generates its own spoken response — no more waiting for a clean silence gap to figure out when you've finished a thought. "Instead of processing a sequence of separate messages, GPT-Live continuously processes input while generating output," OpenAI wrote in its research blog. "The model can therefore make interaction decisions many times per second: whether to speak, continue listening, pause, interrupt, or invoke a tool." In practice, that translates to a voice assistant that can insert conversational acknowledgments — "mhmm," "yeah," "got it" — while you're still talking, pick up on a natural pause without jumping in prematurely, and handle rapid interruptions without derailing the entire exchange.
