U.S. futures are trending to the upside, as investors eye developments in the Middle East, with crude prices dipping. In Europe, stocks are also seeing the upside, with only the FTSE 100, where oil majors such as BP and Shell trade, in the red. Here are three investment strategies we heard in CNBC's Singapore and London studios on Tuesday to help navigate the noise. AI productivity gains Florian Ielpo, head of macro at Lombard Odier Investment Managers, is eyeing the fallout from the AI trade, arguing against underestimating how AI adoption is also producing productivity elsewhere. Ielpo said that the market is trading more narrowly than the earnings surprises are showing. "If you look at the numbers, industrials overall are doing good, consumer discretionary have been surprising to the upside, materials also. There's a flurry of sectors which are also profiting from what's happening currently in the pure AI space, I see that as momentum." The case for Europe Julian Howard, chief multi-asset investment strategist at GAM Investments, made the case for European equities but said the catalyst for those stocks has to be an end to the conflict in Iran. He cited German infrastructure as a case in point, but said that energy concerns over Europe loom large. He said that if investors target the Nasdaq and S & P 500 in the meantime, they will be able to hedge against inflation. Underweight Japan Francis Tan, chief strategist Asia at Indosuez Wealth Management, is now underweight Japanese equities, citing the recent strong run for stocks on the Nikkei 225. Additionally, Tan cited a need to rebalance his portfolio, saying he is now slightly overweight U.S. equities. He said he saw opportunities for gold and is advising clients to buy any dips in the precious metal, saying it has a "medium-term uptrend."

Canadian challenger bank EQB Inc. won government approval for its deal to acquire the mass-market banking arm of Loblaw Cos. and said the transaction is set to close this summer. The signoff from Canada’s finance minister, which follows a recommendation from the bank regulator, is the last step in the regulatory review process, EQB said in a statement Tuesday. The deal to buy PC Financial from the country’s largest grocer, which the firms announced in December , was previously cleared by the competition watchdog. EQB is Canada’s seventh-largest publicly traded bank and is making a push to grab market share from the dominant six lenders. The PC Financial deal will launch EQB’s online-focused EQ Bank into the credit-card business and give it a physical presence through more than 180 kiosks inside grocery stores. The transaction, which was valued at about C$800 million ($587 million) when announced, will see Loblaw get two board seats and a stake of at least 17% in EQB. The lender will add approximately C$5.8 billion in assets and C$800 million in direct retail deposits. Read More: Canada’s EQB Hires Ex-CIBC Executive for Personal-Banking Push “We applaud the swift actions of the federal government to enable us to move with pace to drive improvement in banking competition and affordability and innovation for Canadians,” Chief Executive Officer Chadwick Westlake said in the statement. He had previously called for the Canadian government to act faster on reviewing banking deals, citing comparatively swift approval of US transactions.

yul38885 yul38885/iStock via Getty Images I have been covering several interesting income products based on Strategy ( MSTR ), ranging from the Yieldmax MSTR Option Income Strategy ETF ( MSTY ), the Roundhill MSTR WeeklyPay ETF ( MSTW ) and the Bitwise MSTR Option Income Strategy ETF ( IMST ). My take so far has been that MSTY does not make the cut as a Buy despite its headline high yields because the payoff structure is heavily dependent on execution and historically delivers weak income to upside balance. IMST, a relatively new challenger also did not look like a Buy candidate initially given that it appeared to be largely replicating MSTY’s synthetic option structure with no clear methodology edge. I had kept it as a Hold because of its limited history, awaiting more data to see if any structural advantages arise. For income investors who have a bullish thesis on Strategy Inc ( MSTR ), MSTW looked like a good option (better than MSTY), but at the moment it is suffering because the underlying thesis in MSTR has weakened. In this review, I will look at how IMST is evolving and whether it provides a better alternative to MSTY's known issues (viz. inefficient trade-off between income generation and upside participation driven by active management). I also take a look at another relatively new entrant — the YieldMax MSTR Performance & Distribution Tg 25 ETF ( MSST ) that could also be an alternative. I will also review MSTY's own structure and positioning at the moment to see whether the Sell rating needs to be changed. MSTW (not a covered-call strategy and more dependent on MSTR's own trajectory) is not part of the thesis. My analysis will show how MSTY has undergone significant structural changes compared to how it was positioned in January 2026. The ETF now needs to be watched to see whether it is indeed moving from a partially overwritten, directionally exposed structure to a near fully overwritten, engineered payoff structure, and could be a rerating candidate if...

stockcam/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Duolingo ( DUOL ) sits near the bottom of the education sector's valuation rankings with a D grade, and its latest earnings report suggests the market's skepticism on pricing may be well-founded, at least in the near term. Shares fell 14% in extended trading Monday after the company posted better-than-expected Q1 results but offered a growth outlook that disappointed investors banking on continued acceleration. Duolingo held its full-year revenue outlook steady at approximately $1.21B but guided for bookings growth of only 10–12% for the full year and just 5.8% in Q2, a meaningful deceleration from recent trends. At the top of the education sector valuation rankings, New Oriental Education ( EDU ) and Stride ( LRN ) lead with B- grades, the most attractively valued names on the list, followed by Laureate Education ( LAUR ), Perdoceo ( PRDO ), and TAL Education ( TAL ) at C+. The sole name on the list carrying an F grade is Universal Technical Institute ( UTI ), making it the most expensive stock relative to fundamentals in the group. The valuation grade indicates how expensive a stock is relative to its fundamentals, with A+ being most undervalued and F being most overvalued (pricey). David Ramos/Getty Images News IBM ( IBM ) holds its Think 2026 event this week in Boston, which will feature presentations on a major recent acquisition and quantum computing. CEO Arvind Krishna will present the opening keynote today at 8:30 a.m. ET. The analysts at BNP Paribas believe the conference will feature plenty of details on IBM's recent $11B acquisition of Confluent, which is Big Blue's largest since Red Hat in 2019. The acquisition is expected to contribute to IBM's hybrid cloud strategy. "Confluent is a data streaming platform with ~6,500 enterprise customers, growing ~20% at the time of closing," said BNP Paribas analyst Stefan Slowinski. "The event should also cover new product functionality like the Spyre Accelerator for on-prem inferencing and Bob, IBM's new AI software development system GA in April," Slowinski added. "Following the z17 mainframe cycle, the company will likely emphasize its 3x-4x stack multiplier on hardware spend, meaning that customers who purchase mainframes follow up with spend on Transaction Processing, hybrid cloud software and consulting, which sustains growth between mainframe cycles." Finally, IBM Director of Research Jay Gambetta will hold a presentation covering the company's quantum computing strategy.
