Jeremy Poland/E+ via Getty Images Exxon Mobil Corporation ( XOM ) is playing a critical role in the global oil and natural gas economy as the global supply chain remains hamstrung from the war in Iran. With roughly 20% of oil capacity taken offline, oil prices (CO1:COM, CL1:COM) have remained strong, potentially providing tailwinds to Exxon Mobil’s upstream operations over the coming quarters. While oil prices have experienced significant volatility as a result of the on-again/off-again peace talks between the US and Iran, I suspect prices may remain elevated as a result of lost production, stable demand, and the need to replenish global oil stocks. Given the optimistic backdrop, I am reiterating my Buy rating for XOM shares with a price target of $214/share at 8.53x eFY27 EV/EBITDA. Exxon Mobil Operational Update Exxon Mobil experienced a strong start to FY26 with first LNG production on March 30, 2026, followed by the first cargo of LNG departing from the Golden Pass LNG terminal on April 22, 2026 . In addition to this, Exxon Mobil incrementally increased its long-duration production at the Stabroek block with more than 900Mboe/d of gross production, an appealing asset during a time of heightened oil prices. Guyana is set to see additional capacity coming online later in 2026 with the Uaru, Whiptail, and Hammerhead projects under construction, commencing Uaru in late 2026, bringing production up to 1.15MMboe/d. Both Uaru and Whiptail are expected to produce 250Mboe/d, bringing total production in the block to 1.4MMboe/d. What’s most appealing about the asset development is Exxon Mobil’s planned utilization of Proxxima in subsea applications with Hammerhead and future FPSOs. Proxxima is a resin system designed as a lightweight, thermal-resistant alternative to steel for a variety of applications, including construction, engineered structures, and coatings, amongst others. What’s appealing about this is that Exxon Mobile is nearshoring the materials supply chain, ef...
