In my last report, I rated it a Hold while noting that its ability to continue signing contracts was offset by its large increase in cash burn and lack of a clearly defined path to profitability. Firefly Aerospace Inc. is growing fast but still deeply unprofitable and burning cash. (Seeking Alpha) What I’m looking for here in this update is the piece of the puzzle I’m missing, because since then the stock has climbed about 36%, comfortably ahead of the S&P 500 ( SP500 ) at roughly 12%. Seeking Alpha That noted, the momentum has been letting off some steam in the last couple of weeks. So with that context in mind, after breaking down Firefly Aerospace’s Q1 2026 earnings , I’m still leaning neutral because its core problems still exist, such as profitability still being far away, constant cash burn, and its bull case relying purely on perfect execution of multiple government-run programs that still have a lot of uncertainty surrounding them. Can Firefly Grow Fast Enough To Fix Its Weak Economics? Q1 2026 revenue : $80.88M / $80.9M Revenue beat: $5.95M Q4 2025 revenue: $57.7M Q1 2025 revenue: $55.9M Spacecraft solutions revenue: $67.6M Launch revenue: $13.3M FORGE engineering change proposal: $109M Space-Based Interceptor contracts total: up to $3.2B Alpha Flight 7: completed all mission objectives. The company generated more revenue than Wall Street thought it would, which is all well and good, but before we crack open those bottles of champagne, let’s take a closer look at the main reasons why they did this. The primary reason behind the difference was that they now recognized a full quarter’s revenue from SciTec, which was acquired in late 2025 . In addition to that, they also got paid on two large military software programs, FORGE and Golden Dome Space-Based Interceptor. They launched a rocket called Alpha ;...

Mario Tama/Getty Images News SpaceX ( SPACE ) has proposed spending $55B to start its widely anticipated Terafab semiconductor facility in Austin, Texas, according to official government documents. If additional phases of the semiconductor production facility are completed, the total cost could be around $119B, the documents added. News of the spending amount was first reported by Bloomberg . Some analysts have speculated that the project may have to raise outside money, given the cost and complexity of building a semiconductor plant. The project would begin with a smaller advanced fabrication facility capable of designing and testing a wide range of chips, with ambitions to scale into a much larger operation. Elon Musk, who leads Tesla and SpaceX, has argued that current chipmakers are not expanding fast enough to meet the demands of next-generation AI systems. Without the Terafab, “we don’t see a path to having enough” chips for AI given “the rate at which the industry is growing,” Musk told investors recently. The proposed fab would produce two main types of chips: lower-power processors for vehicles, robotaxis, and humanoid robots; and higher-performance chips designed for space-based computing. Musk envisions eventually supporting massive computing capacity both on Earth and in orbit, though he did not provide a timeline. Musk unveiled plans for a new semiconductor venture, dubbed “Terafab,” in March . He is seeking greater control over chip supply for AI, robotics, and space computing. Last month, Musk said that the Terafab project would use Intel's ( INTC ) 14A manufacturing process in the plant. “We plan to use Intel’s 14A process, which is state of the art and in fact not yet totally complete,” Musk told analysts on Tesla’s most recent earnings call. The technology would be “fairly mature” by the time Terafab started operating, he added, praising Intel’s team, including chief executive Lip-Bu Tan. Intel's involvement in the Terafab project was announced a c...
