igorr1/iStock via Getty Images As we head into the thick of the Q1 earnings season, like many investors, I'm wondering how to diversify my portfolio away from near-all-time highs in the S&P 500. The large-cap semiconductor trade is becoming incredibly crowded, which means we have to look toward more small- and mid-cap plays to find true value. Black Rifle Coffee Inc., or BRC ( BRCC ), looks like a more promising bet. Coffee prices are beginning to soften, which has been a major overhang on the company's profit growth. On top of this, Black Rifle Coffee is expanding its wholesale distribution network at just the right time, with rivals potentially fading. BRC is up slightly this year but has lost ~50% of its value over the past year. Data by YCharts I last wrote a "Sell" opinion on BRC in November, when the stock was trading at ~$1.30 per share. Make no mistake: I think risks still abound in this name. That said, I do think last year's selloff has taken a lot of downside out of this name, while fundamentals may be looking up with coffee prices softening. I'm upgrading BRC to a "N eutral" rating. The next major catalyst for BRC will be its Q1 earnings release, due on May 5. While I don't necessarily think the stock is a safe buy pre-earnings, this is now a solid name to add to your watch list. Coffee prices are softening amid a conservative margin guidance target for FY26 Let's now discuss the primary factor that has moved in BRC's favor since last quarter and which may benefit the company as it heads into earnings season. Over the past year, BRC's gross margin profile has been under sharp scrutiny as weather events took a chunk of supply in Vietnam and Brazil offline. Now, however, we're seeing signs of normalization in the market. The chart below, taken from BRC's latest investor presentation dated as of early March, denotes the company's latest expectations and thinking around gross margin. In FY25, the company suffered a sharp ~6 point contraction in gross margins...

Miljan Živković/iStock via Getty Images Teladoc Health’s ( TDOC ) Q1 loss is projected to see a 26% improvement in its earnings on April 27, after market close, with continued improvement expected from its BetterHelp segment. The consensus EPS Estimate is -$0.39, while revenue is seen falling 3% to $610.59M. Ahead of the earnings, sentiment appears cautious as analysts have made no upward revisions for earnings or revenue. Meanwhile, they have issued 2 and 19 downward revisions, respectively. BetterHelp's revenue declined 9% in 2025, in line with its last four years’ performance, showing flat or declining revenue, high cost of user acquisition, high rates of seasonal churn, and lack of recurring revenue. However, the business has shown improvement following its acquisition of UpLift in April 2025. “To date, early results validate a change in the model. In 2025, BetterHelp generated about $13 million in insurance revenue, with management expecting this to grow to $75–$90 million in 2026, representing a 6-7x increase from the previous year,” Seeking Alpha analyst Tyler Wiedwald noted. The management sees BetterHelp 2026 revenue falling between 7% and 0.5% (vs. 2025), with insurance revenue expected at $75 million to $90 million and an exit annualized revenue run rate above $100 million. Direct-to-consumer revenue is projected to be down 14% to 9%, while international revenue is expected to see double-digit growth. Some optimism is also centered around PulseAI under Teledoc’s integrated care segment, which has often had the highest number of virtual visits within the overall industry. “With the release of Pulse, Teladoc now has the opportunity to provide an AI-based classification system that identifies patients with chronic conditions that may be showing signs of deterioration and thereby creates opportunities for costly acute-care episodes. This separates them from the traditional model and improves their value proposition,” the analyst noted. For the full year, Inte...
