Torsten Asmus U.S. Treasury yields moved sharply higher on Friday morning, with borrowing costs across the curve climbing toward one-year highs as investors continue to react to persistent inflation pressures and rising energy prices. Market participants continued digesting the latest Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index reports, both of which came in hotter than Wall Street had anticipated, reinforcing concerns that inflation remains stubbornly elevated. The benchmark U.S. 10 Year Treasury yield ( US10Y ) advanced 7 basis points to 4.56%, hovering near its highest level in roughly a year. The last time the US10Y traded at these levels was back on May 22, 2025. Meanwhile, the U.S. 30 Year Treasury yield ( US30Y ) also gained 7 basis points, reaching its strongest reading since May 22, 2025, as well, as long-term inflation expectations remained under scrutiny. Shorter-dated government bonds also faced selling pressure. The U.S. 2 Year Treasury yield ( US2Y ) rose 5 basis points to 4.06%, marking its highest level since March 19, 2025. Rising crude oil prices added to inflation worries, with traders increasingly concerned that elevated energy costs could complicate the Federal Reserve’s path toward future interest-rate cuts. Investors are now closely watching upcoming economic data for additional signals on monetary policy.
