Russia’s Ust-Luga port sustained fresh damage from a Ukrainian drone attack, as Kyiv steps up strikes on Russian oil export infrastructure. The Leningrad region came under a fresh Ukrainian drone attack overnight, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said in a Telegram post early Sunday. Air defenses have shot down 31 drones so far, while the emergency services are working to put down a fire at Ust-Luga port, he said. The Leningrad region on the Baltic coast hosts major Russian export hubs and has come under repeated Ukrainian attacks over the past week. Loadings at Ust-Luga have been halted since Wednesday after it sustained significant damage, endangering Russian oil exports. Another port in the region, Primorsk, has also sustained damage. Just before the recent Ukrainian attacks, Primorsk and Ust-Luga handled about 45%, or 1.72 million barrels a day, of Russia’s seaborne crude exports, shipment data seen by Bloomberg show. The damage to both ports threatens to blunt a potential boost to Russian oil export revenues from price increases sparked by the Iran war. The jump had given President Vladimir Putin an opportunity to cover part of a widening budget gap as the economy slows. Read: Ukrainian Attacks Threaten Russia’s Oil Profits From Iran War Both Russia and Ukraine strike each other daily with drones and, at times, missiles as the war enters its fifth year. Ukraine’s attacks are aimed at cutting Russian profits used to sustain the war, often targeting oil, energy and other industrial infrastructure. Russia often hits civilian infrastructure in addition to industrial sites. Overnight, eight people were injured in a Russian drone attack in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region, according to regional authorities.

Yes, we stay awake all night, worrying about things that everyone else has already forgotten. But at least we’re making an effort It takes a certain kind of bravery to speak out on behalf of a much-maligned group, so thank you, Mark Travers, PhD. This American psychologist has publicly detailed three reasons overthinkers make great partners. Finally, some justice for those of us whose brains don’t have an off switch, when we usually get such a bad rap (which we then lie awake at night endlessly ruminating on). To us, overthinking isn’t even the correct term – it’s just thinking. Calling it overthinking suggests there are underthinkers, who must be a happy bunch, or perfect-level thinkers, who probably live by the Eleanor Roosevelt/Kung Fu Panda quote: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift – that’s why it is called the present.” An overthinker would hear that and panic, clearly, because were we meant to buy a present too? Is it going to be awkward now? Continue reading...

bgwalker/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images The current macroeconomic landscape is creating significant headwinds for Home Depot's ( HD ) business, which are hard to ignore. When I last wrote about HD in June 2025 , I rated the stock as hold, but I do not believe it is justified anymore. Poor consumer sentiment, a weak housing market, and fears of stagflation driven by the ongoing war in the Middle East are all likely to negatively impact HD's financial performance in the coming quarters. Demand for the firm's products has already showed signs of weakness in the most recent quarter. Declining revenue, contracting margins, declining comparable customer transactions and increasing receivables are all clear signs for me that it is not worth investing in Home Depot's stock right now. Financial Results And The Macro Landscape In the most recent quarter, HD reported revenue decline, margin compression, and EPS decline. There is not much reason for optimism looking at these results. One may say that the revenue decline is driven by the 13-week quarter compared to the 14-week quarter a year ago and in fact comparable sales grew by 0.4%, so the results may not be as bad as they seem. From one side true, because the 14th week in the prior year contributed approximately $2.5 billion to the revenue. Q4 results (Home Depot) On the other side, there are several other metrics that are raising significant concerns about the demand. First, comparable customer transactions declined, demonstrating that the demand is indeed softening. This was partially offset by a growth in comparable average ticket, however. Selected sales data (Home Depot) Further, if we look at the balance sheet, we can see that the company's receivables increased materially compared to the prior year. If accounts receivable increase at a faster pace than revenue, it could be a warning sign that the firm is selling more on credit, potentially pulling demand forward from future periods. Home Depot's receivables incr...
