The mega complex in Guangdong province anchors BASF’s strategic pivot toward Asian growth markets as it restructures crisis-hit European operations, providing a critical buffer against soaring raw material costs and regional petrochemical shortages.

J Studios/DigitalVision via Getty Images Introduction In my view, MarketWise right now is in a transitional stage in which improving cash flows are masking the structural subscriber base weakening. MarketWise, Inc. ( MKTW ) is currently demonstrating a clear difference between the worsening GAAP financial results and the improving operational cash flows, which shows an active business model reorganization. Based on the fiscal 2025 report, the company's net income shrank 19.7% to $328.1 million, while adjusted net income fell 31.2% to $64.0 million, though this drop is a consequence of recognizing past sales and doesn't reflect the current business health. However, billings, which better represent the real demand, grew 13.4% to $271.2 million, and in Q4 even recorded a jump of 42% compared to last year. Even though the number of paid subscriptions throughout the year shrunk 26.1% to 374 thousand, average revenue per user grew 70% to around $650, which shows a successful pivot to a higher value client segment and effective monetization. Operating cash flows in 2025 reached $45 million, radically improving from the negative $22 million in 2024. The company ended the year with $70 million in cash and no debt. The current forward P/E ratio is reaching around 6.2, suggesting that the market still values skeptically subscriber base stability, despite the fact that the net revenue retention rate recovered to 91%. In 2026, management is forecasting a $300 million billings level and is planning to pay dividends of $1.80 per share, which makes up an annual yield of 13%. Rejecting a takeover bid of $17.25 per share, management is demonstrating confidence that current capitalization underestimates the operational leverage and the ability to generate free cash flow on a stabilized subscriber base. Business Overview MarketWise operates as a content platform for individual investors, managing 12 main brands and offering over 160 different investment products. The main source of rev...

CatLane/E+ via Getty Images Commentary as of 12/31/25 The fund posted returns of 4.12% (Institutional shares) and 4.09% (Investor A shares, without sales charge) for the fourth quarter of 2025. The fund's outperformance of its benchmark was led by macro-related measures, particularly those identifying industry-level and style-rotation trends. Sentiment insights, especially those following analyst trends and short-selling activity, supported performance, as did traditional quality-focused fundamental measures. From a sector-positioning perspective, the fund remained largely neutral. However, there were slight overweight positions in the industrials and communication services sectors, and underweight holdings in the utilities and health care sectors. Contributors Macro-related measures were the strongest contributor. A standout was an insight using industry-level wage data to anticipate future margin trends, which helped correctly position the fund among stocks in the health care sector. Measures tracking macroeconomic data to identify equity style rotation led to profitable exposure to stocks in the industrials sector. Elsewhere, sentiment insights that tracked short-selling activity aligned well with market reversals, particularly benefiting from positioning in the financials sector and among semiconductors stocks. Fundamental quality measures that penalized volatile companies also added to returns, reinforcing strong stock selection in the pharmaceuticals industry, in the health care sector, and the machinery industry, in the industrials sector. Detractors Despite the overall strong performance, some measures detracted. Thematic insights that attempted to anticipate deregulation trends were less effective, particularly among select stocks in the communication services sector and among equipment companies. In the fundamental space, non-traditional quality measures focused on founder-led firms and predictive sales growth struggled, undermining positions in the consum...
