Its creators discuss bringing their hit back after the reggae giant’s death On a chilly morning at a Silvertown studio behind London City airport, the sunburst intro to Jimmy Cliff’s The Harder They Come is on repeat. Dancers run through a routine studded with reggae and dancehall moves. “Get high,” commands associate choreographer Neisha-yen Jones with a smile. “Get low!” The ensemble rise and dip. They do the bogle and whine around each other as their watchful director Matthew Xia nods along. They circle Natey Jones who breaks out the opening line: “Well, they tell me of a pie up in the sky.” In the distance, a plane leaves the ground. It’s eight months since The Harder They Come’s full-throttle takeoff at Stratford East, where the musical was so popular that it is now returning for a second run which will also serve as a eulogy for Cliff who died in November . Playwright Suzan-Lori Parks’ adaptation of Perry Henzell’s 1972 Jamaican film is bolstered by a handful of her own songs as well as classics including Israelites and Wonderful World, Beautiful People – plus every number on the film’s monumental soundtrack. Jones is reprising the role of Ivan (played on screen by Cliff and inspired by real-life outlaw Rhyging ), who arrives in Kingston from the country and is dismissed and exploited, before becoming both a hit singer and a fugitive. The original was akin to cinéma vérité, directly evoked spaghetti westerns and veered into blaxploitation territory; Ivan’s tale has gained greater warmth, humour and protest spirit on stage. This will enable 18GWh of annual 4680 cell production and create more than 1500 new jobs. Good news during challenging times for the German industry,” André Thierig, a senior Tesla executive at the Giga Berlin facility, said in a post on X. The Berlin-Brandenburg plant, which opened in March 2022, is Tesla’s first manufacturing site in Europe. The facility reached a record output of over 61,000 units in Q1. Tesla has been expanding production of its 4680 battery cells at Giga Berlin as part of a broader effort to lower battery costs and strengthen vertical integration for vehicles manufactured in Europe. Last month, Thierig said Tesla plans to ramp up Model Y production at the facility “by 20% starting in July '26.” To support the expansion, the company intends to hire around 1,000 additional employees and convert several hundred temporary workers into permanent staff. Giga Berlin serves as a major export hub for Model Y vehicles across Europe, supplying markets such as Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. The plant also manufactures vehicles for shipment to India. “We plan to keep growing volumes further, not just in Berlin, but across all our factories. Our biggest limiter continues to be our battery pack capacity, and we are actively working on resolving that,” Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja said in April during Tesla’s first quarter earnings call. Private equity investment in US data centers jumped to $45.70 billion in 2025, the highest total in at least five years. This accounts for 72% of the overall $63.35 billion investment in the nation's data center space, including transactions not backed with private equity, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data. The private equity-backed investment total was driven by one deal: the planned $40 billion acquisition of Aligned Data Centers LLC by a group of investors including MGX Fund Management Ltd., Global Infrastructure Management LLC, Microsoft Corp. ( MSFT ), X.AI LLC ( X.AI ), NVIDIA Corp. ( NVDA ), Temasek Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd., Kuwait Investment Authority and BlackRock Inc. ( BLK ). "We're at the beginning of a data center supercycle development process," said Curt Holcomb, vice chairman of JLL Data Center Solutions. A supercycle in data center development refers to a prolonged, deep development phase lasting three to five years, driven by a severe supply-and-demand imbalance in which demand significantly exceeds available supply, Holcomb said. This cycle was intensified by COVID-19 logistics disruptions that further delayed supply development. The phenomenon attracts massive capital investment, scaling from billions to trillions of dollars, representing an abnormal period requiring extensive infrastructure build-out to meet current market demands, he said. Major financial industry players, including Blackstone Inc., Apollo Global Management Inc. ( APO ) and BlackRock, have aggressively entered the US data center market over the past five years, joining traditional institutional lenders and pension funds, Holcomb said.
