Liudmila Chernetska/iStock via Getty Images I am initiating coverage of Erasca ( ERAS ) with a "Hold" rating. The reason why is because the company was able to achieve positive preliminary results from its phase 1 dose-escalation AURORAS-1 study using its pan-RAS molecular glue inhibitor ERAS-0015 for the treatment of patients with RAS-mutant solid tumors. Positive data came from both this and data from China from its sponsor, Joyo Pharmatech, Co., Ltd. [Joyo]. Speaking of which, Erasca was able to expand its licensing agreement with Joyo to obtain rights of this pan-molecular glue inhibitor, ERAS-0015, for the China, Hong Kong, and Macau territories. The bottom-line is that it now gives it worldwide exclusive rights in order to treat these RAS-mutant solid tumor patients. If this is highly promising, then why do I believe it should be placed as a "Hold" rating? There are two reasons why, and it is because of the risks at play here. The first of which is that even though there was solid efficacy data released from this preliminary data, which I will be going over below, there was a case of a patient who had grade 3 pneumonitis and later died after requesting withdrawal from best supportive care . This appears to be contained for now, but this doesn't potentially take away a risk that subsequent data could further have additional safety problems to come about. The second reason is because this company has a major competitor it has to deal with known as Revolution Medicines ( RVMD ) with its pan-RAS molecular glue drug daraxonrasib [RMC-6236] to treat patients with RAS-mutant solid tumors. An in-depth analysis of Revolution Medicines can be read in my prior Seeking Alpha article entitled " Revolution Medicines: 'Strong Buy' On Daraxonrasib Win And Expansions Underway ." The problem is that while it is possible that ERAS-0015 might be more potent than daraxonrasib, there is the potential but not the guarantee of a legal battle on hand. That's because Revolution sent a ...

After days of silence, Iran parried Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan with terms similar to those it has floated for weeks. Trump on Monday assailed the response while engaging in new brinkmanship regarding the tenuous ceasefire between the US and Iran. With no deal in sight and the Strait of Hormuz still effectively blocked, oil prices resumed their upward trajectory during the day. And with gasoline prices at multi-year highs as the travel-heavy Memorial Day weekend approaches, Trump raised the possibility of a federal gas tax holiday. The problem with that, however, is the president has no power to impose one, as such a move would take an act of Congress —which has never done it . What You Need to Know Today The US airline industry is primed for a new round of mergers as low-cost carriers are squeezed by the oil-price spike, according to Deutsche Bank analyst Michael Linenberg. With gas and ticket prices rising, companies like JetBlue and Frontier are likely to see a decrease in bookings from budget conscious travelers, placing financial pressure on the carriers, Linenberg said. That could result in more joint ventures between airlines and potentially outright mergers. “The low-fare carrier space is still ripe for consolidation,” he said. Read more More frequent marking of assets does little to improve transparency or accuracy in the $1.8 trillion private credit market, says Pimco strategist Lotfi Karoui. Pimco, an early critic of the private credit industry, has been vocal about the risks in direct-lending markets and has taken the other side of the bet by hunting for emerging problems in private-credit-backed companies. Karoui’s comments come as one big player, Apollo Global Management, is stepping up efforts to provide liquidity and price transparency in the opaque marke...

US To Develop Small Modular Nuclear Reactors For Commercial Shipping Authored by Naveen Athrappully via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), The United States is seeking to develop small modular nuclear reactors (SMR) for commercial vessels that would potentially bring down shipping costs, the Department of Transportation (DOT) said in a May 7 statement. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy speaks at a press conference at LaGuardia Airport in New York City on Oct. 28, 2025. Michael M. Santiago/Getty Images The initiative, launched by DOT Secretary Sean P. Duffy and the Maritime Administration (MARAD), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for this purpose. An RFI is a formal document to gather preliminary information regarding a good or service from suppliers. In this specific case, the purpose of the RFI is to investigate whether the advancements in SMR technology and other developments are “usable, scalable, and can be made commercially viable,” according to the RFI published in the Federal Register on May 7. SMRs have a power generation capacity of up to 300 megawatts, which is roughly a third of the traditionally larger nuclear power reactors. While the big reactors are typically custom-designed for a specific location, SMRs can be manufactured as pre-fabricated units and then transported and installed at any location. MARAD is calling on industry stakeholders and innovators to help in the development of an SMR model that would revitalize the U.S. shipping industry, cut down transportation costs, and secure energy dominance, the DOT statement said. “To successfully introduce SMRs, we must view this through a system-transition lens rather than just as a technology demonstration, ” MARAD Administrator Stephen M. Carmel said. “We are seeking critical insights on how the government can help reduce systemic uncertainty, align regulatory structures, and enable the market conditions necessary for private capital and operators to scale these groundbreaking technologies....

GameStop Corp. shares spiked and then quickly dropped in postmarket trading Monday after cryptic social media posts showed up and then disappeared from the social media account of Keith Gill , the financial influencer known as “Roaring Kitty,” who became prominent during the 2021 meme-stock craze. GameStop’s stock jumped as much as 13% before paring those gains to trade lower after the posts — including one depicting a cat, and another with a picture of the online character Pepe the Frog wearing Roaring Kitty’s trademark red bandanna — were deleted around 5:40 p.m. in New York, less than an hour after they went up. Shares of Chewy Inc. , which was founded by GameStop’s current chief executive officer, Ryan Cohen , also rose as much as 3% before erasing the move. Gill scored a huge profit in 2021 after investing in the beleaguered video-game retailer and promoting the stock online. Since then, Roaring Kitty has posted on X infrequently, but past messages have sent meme stocks on wild rallies. A cryptic post in late 2024 sent shares of GameStop flying and triggered a volatility halt, while other names including AMC Entertainment also jumped.

You’re about to win your first home league game in 156 days. You’re well on top and playing your best football in 18 months. If you can just see it through you’ll be four points clear of the relegation zone with two games to go, crisis all but averted. And then your left-winger attempts an overhead in the corner of your own box and kicks an opponent in the head nearly eight feet off the ground. It may have been the highest altitude penalty awarded in the Premier League this season; it was certainly the stupidest. Never underestimate the Spursiness of this Spurs . The gap to West Ham is two points. Spurs must go to Chelsea three days after the FA Cup final then face Everton at home. West Ham have Newcastle away and Leeds at home. But perhaps the most important aspect is the sense that the momentum has shifted. The pendulum that had seemingly been swinging decisively towards Tottenham has slowed; it could easily swing back again. Continue reading...

Is AI leaving the era of "turn-based" chat? Right now, all of us who use AI models regularly for work or in our personal lives know that the basic interaction mode across text, imagery, audio, and video remains the same: the human user provides an input, waits anywhere between milliseconds to minutes (or in some cases, for particularly tough queries, hours and days ), and the AI model provides an output. But if AI is to really take on the load of jobs requiring natural interaction, it will need to do more than provide this kind of "turn-based" interactivity — it will ultimately need to respond more fluidly and naturally to human inputs, even responding while also processing the next human input, be it text or another format. That at least seems to be the contention of Thinking Machines , the well-funded AI startup founded last year by former OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati and former OpenAI researcher and co-founder John Schulman, among others. Today, the firm announced a research preview of what it deems to be "interaction models, a new class of native multimodal systems that treats interactivity as a first-class citizen of model architecture rather than an external software "harness," scoring some impressive gains on third-party benchmarks and reduced latency as a result. However, the models are not yet available to the general public or even enterprises — the company says in its announcement blog post: "In the coming months, we will open a limited research preview to collect feedback, with a wider release later this year." 'Full duplex' simultaneous input/output processing At the heart of this announcement is a fundamental shift in how AI perceives time and presence. Current frontier models typically experience reality in a single thread; they wait for a user to finish an input before they begin processing, and their perception freezes while they generate a response. In their blog post, the Thinking Machines researchers described the status quo as a l...
