Enhanced Group Inc. shares sank 14% after going public via a merger with blank-check company A Paradise Acquisition Corp. that gave it an enterprise value of $1.2 billion. Shares fell to $6.90 each as of 9:49 a.m. in New York on Friday, below the $8.03 closing price of the special purpose acquisition company the day before. The newly-combined company conducts the Enhanced Games, an international athletic event that allows competitors to use performance-enhancing drugs . Its inaugural running is set to take place later this month in Las Vegas. A Paradise Acquisition went public in July, with the intention to combine with a name in the leisure and entertainment sector. The enhanced merger was announced in November. SPACs, or special purpose acquisition companies, like A Paradise Acquisition, are shell companies that go to market with the intention of combining with other companies in order take them public. But SPACs can be risky for investors and often yield losses. Founded by Dr. Aron D’Souza , Christian Angermayer , and Maximilian Martin in 2023, Enhanced seeks to push the boundaries athletic achievement in a way that “safely evolves mankind into a new superhumanity,” per the company website. The May games will feature more than 40 athletes representing 23 countries competing across weight lifting, track, and swimming. Billionaire bio-hacker Bryan Johnson and former football player Emmanuel Acho will spearhead broadcast coverage. Both the International Olympic Committee and anti-doping authorities have repudiated Enhanced’s concept on the basis of safety and fair competition. Performance-enhancing drugs are prohibited in most professional athletics. Enhanced’s shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ENHA.

The stock is down sharply year-to-date, as a 26% plunge following a miss in adjusted operating profit and weak earnings guidance weighed heavily on investor sentiment. Upcoming Q1 earnings will likely play an important role in determining whether Klarna’s profitability trajectory is finally stabilizing. GMV Growth Is Strong But Expected To Moderate The company’s latest earnings report for Q4 and FY 2025 showed excellent top line growth figures. Quarterly GMV of $38.7 billion rose 32% year-over-year, while overall revenue of $1.08 billion, the company’s first-ever billion print, was up an impressive 38% year-over-year. Growth accelerated from 23% year-over-year in Q3, but according to management the percentage GMV growth will begin to moderate in Q2 2026. Hypergrowth is mainly being driven by two products: Fair Financing and Cards. Fair Financing GMV rose by 165% year-over-year to reach $4.5 billion, while Card GMV was up an even headier 209% year-over-year. As these products scale, percentage growth mechanically has to slow down. Full-year GMV came in at $127 billion, and 2026 guidance is for over $155 billion, implying growth of low-20% based on run rate. Engagement remains strong with a 28% increase in consumers to 118 million, and a 42% increase in merchants to 966 thousand. It’s important to keep in mind that these numbers are coming off a period of unusually strong acceleration, rather than indicating a slowdown in overall demand. The company expects pre-tax charges of $227M-$262M through 2029, including $170M-$195M in non-cash charges in Q2 and Q3 of 2026. The company expects annual free cash flow improvement of $15M-$25M and adjusted EBITDA savings of $15M-$20M from 2027 onward. Still, it was the first set of back-to-back employment increases since last May. Revisions to February and March payrolls were -18,000. The unemployment rate rose from 4.256% in March to 4.337% in April, with a notable decline in employment in the household survey. To that note, the U-6 underemployment rate rose to 8.2% from 8.0%. Average hourly earnings came in a touch light. The April rise was 0.2%, well below the prevailing inflation rate, bringing the year-on-year increase to 3.6%, below the 3.8% forecast. While average hourly earnings were below estimates, average weekly hours worked were above what economists were expecting at 34.2 hours. Within the report, manufacturing payrolls declined by 2,000, reversing a surprisingly strong March climb. Government jobs kept falling, down 8,000 last month. Equity futures rallied to session highs following the solid April jobs report, while Treasury yields were not much changed. All eyes remain on the conflict in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the Q1 earnings season has been nothing short of gangbusters.
