Key Points Letting go of myths surrounding Medicare is the best way to make the most of the program. Understanding what Medicare does and doesn't cover can help with financial planning. Unless you're already receiving Social Security, it's up to you to sign up for Medicare as you turn 65. The $23,760 Social Security bonus most retirees completely overlook › It's sometimes better to know nothing about a specific topic than to believe a myth. Believing that you know the truth makes it easy to move through life without further investigation on the subject -- and it's probably something we've all been guilty of. The danger of holding onto myths is how much they can cost. For example, seniors who fall for any of these five myths about Medicare can spend far more on healthcare in retirement than they planned for. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » Myth 1: Enrollment is automatic It sometimes feels as though the federal government knows everything there is to know about us, including the moment we were born. However, that doesn't mean it automatically enrolls you in Medicare at age 65. Only those who already receive Social Security are automatically enrolled. Everyone else must sign up during the initial enrollment period (the three months before to the three months after you turn 65). Myth 2: Anyone with access to employer coverage can stick with it, rather than sign up for Medicare The reality is that some people can delay signing up for Medicare if they're covered by an employer-sponsored health plan. However, if you're one of the millions who work for a company with fewer than 20 employees, you aren't typically eligible to delay Medicare. Here's why that matters: Failure to sign up for Medicare can lead to a 10% penalty for every year you delay. Myth 3: Medicare is free for retirees The ...

Welcome to our guide to the commodities driving the global economy. Today, reporter Eva Brendel looks at why the unfolding energy shock hasn’t jolted Europe’s power markets as much as the 2022 crisis. The war in Iran has rattled energy markets, driving up prices and reviving memories of the 2022 crisis, when disrupted Russian gas supplies dealt Europe a shock it took years to recover from. Yet the continent’s power market , at least, is not reacting to the turmoil in the same way this time. Europe has expanded its renewable fleet since 2022, which means that electricity prices are more often set by cheaper solar and wind instead of gas or coal-fired plants. As a result, higher gas prices are no longer feeding through to power markets to the same extent as in the past. Renewables don’t only lower average electricity prices, they also damp price spikes, Rabobank said in a report. Seasonal factors are reinforcing that effect: with spring underway, heating demand is easing while solar output is improving. Without those cushioning effects, European electricity prices would already be about one-third higher, the bank said. In addition, France’s nuclear fleet — a key pillar of Europe’s power market — is on a much stronger footing than during the last energy crisis, adding more supply to the grid. Back then, the aging fleet required numerous ill-timed upgrades and repairs. Still, the power market is not fully insulated. Evening prices have spiked to around three times their usual levels in several countries. The reason is that solar output fades at those times, while demand pushes higher in the evening when people come home, switch on lights and cook dinner. If the war drags on for several months, the seasonal relief risks fading. “The market may look calm now, but sensitivity increases again toward the colder months,” said Uniper SE market analyst Thomas Thomas. But for now, the cushion that renewables provide against the surge in gas and oil prices strengthens the case fo...

Robert Way Shares of optical companies Lumentum ( LITE ) and Coherent ( COHR ) slipped in premarket trading on Tuesday as Nvidia ( NVDA ) CEO Jensen Huang reaffirmed his company's use of copper in its server racks. Lumentum fell more than 4% in premarket trading, while Coherent fell nearly 4%. Credo Technology ( CRDO ), which produces active electrical cables, rose nearly 1%. During the nearly two-and-a-half-hour-long presentation that spanned several topics , Huang said that Nvidia would use copper and co-packaged optics in both its upcoming Vera Rubin Ultra and Feynman lines, with both options advancing in parallel. J.P. Morgan analyst Harlan Sur said Nvidia pursuing both paths is consistent with his expectations and that expectations of co-packaged optics are “ahead of downstream readiness.” “For the current Vera Rubin generation, Oberon racks use copper scale-up for NVL72, with optical scale- up to expand to NVL576,” Sur wrote in a note to clients. “The Spectrum-6 SPX co-packaged optics Ethernet switch is in full production, co-developed with TSMC, with [management] claiming 5x greater optical power efficiency and 10x higher resiliency vs. traditional pluggable transceivers. For Rubin Ultra (C2H27), the Kyber rack architecture uses vertical compute trays connected through a central midplane and NVLink copper scale-up (up to 144 GPUs), with an alternative CPO-based NVLink switch solution also shown for inter-shelf interconnect. Mgmt indicated both designs will continue advancing in parallel. For Feynman (CY28), NVDA will explicitly offer Kyber with both copper and CPO scale-up, alongside Spectrum-7 (204T, CPO) for scale-out.” More on Lumentum, Coherent, Nvidia and Credo Credo's Growth Explosion The Market Is Ignoring Nvidia At Significant Risk As Upside Priced In, But Downside Not Read This Before Nvidia GTC 2026: Agentic AI And LPU Nvidia's $1T backlog 'a stunner,' Groq 3 integration key announcement - analysts STMicroelectronics joins hands with Nvidia to accel...

就在前几天,马斯克在X上发了一条消息: “xAI第一次没建对,现在要从基础重建。(xAI was not built right first time around, so is being rebuilt from the foundations up.)”
