(London) — A U.K. court has upheld an order freezing London property and bank assets held by a 24-year-old woman linked to Singapore’s largest money laundering scandal. The order covers about 6 million pounds ($8 million) in assets, including two London apartments, a parking space and six bank accounts. On Friday, the High Court rejected the woman’s bid to lift the freezing order obtained by the National Crime Agency (NCA), which suspects the assets are linked to criminal proceeds and lack a legitimate source.

The VanEck Gold Miners ETF ( GDX ) touched bear-market territory at its lows last week, all while physical gold is not too far from a correction. Intuitively, gold should rally when war breaks out and investors duck for cover. Not so this time. Gold and shares of gold mining companies have morphed into a bit of a risk-on space. Specifically, Coeur Mining ( CDE ) has plunged from above $27 to under $21 just in two-plus weeks. I had a buy rating on the now $13.0 billion market cap firm. The stock is up 32% since my December analysis , and I reiterate a buy today. CDE’s discount to fair value is narrower, but I see the sharp pullback as a long-term buying opportunity. I’ll provide a refreshed valuation and offer an updated look at the technicals. CDE Falls Hard From Its February High Stockcharts.com Back in February, CDE reported a mixed set of quarterly results. Q4 non-GAAP EPS of $0.35 was in line with the Wall Street consensus forecast, while revenue of $675 million, up a whopping 121% from the same period a year earlier, was a small $13.5 million miss. The company sees fiscal 2026 gold and silver production (from the current portfolio of assets) in the range of 390,000-460,000 ounces and 18.2-21.3 million ounces, respectively. These projections are boosted by planned investments in the Hidalgo corridor at its Palmarejo mine and expected higher crusher availability at Rochester operations. Shares rose by 6.5% in the session that followed—its best earnings date reaction going back to last August. Looking ahead to the May report, the options market prices in a high 11.1% earnings-related stock price swing based on the at-the-money straddle expiring soonest after the report. That's materially above the long-term average straddle pricing of 6.8%. As it stands, implied volatility is very high at 80.7%, according to data from Option Research & Technology Services. I’d al...

Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony homered and the United States limited the Dominican Republic’s electric offense to win a thrilling semi-final 2-1 on Sunday and move one win from capturing its second World Baseball Classic championship. The Dominican Republic threatened in the ninth when Julio Rodríguez drew a walk and advanced to third against Mason Miller. With two outs, Miller struck out Geraldo Perdomo for his second save but the final pitch – on a full count – was several inches below the strike zone. ABS is not a part of the World Baseball Classic, so the Dominicans – who benefited from some missed calls themselves – were unable to challenge. Although the Americans’ excellent pitching won the game rather than the umpiring, it was a dismal way to end what had been an enthralling contest. “That game cannot end like that. A shame,” wrote ESPN’s Jeff Passan on social media. The loaded American roster led by NL Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes and featuring stars Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge, reached its third straight WBC title game after winning in 2017 and falling to Shohei Ohtani and Japan in 2023. The Americans will face the winner of Monday’s semi-final between Italy and Venezuela in Tuesday’s title game. The Dominicans reached the semis for the first time since winning the WBC title in 2013, but missing the championship was not the goal for a roster that featured six players who finished among the top 10 in MVP voting last year and cruised through the early rounds of this WBC. They faced their biggest test of the tournament against Skenes (2-0), who gave up one run on six hits through 4.1 innings, and the US bullpen, which held the Dominicans scoreless the rest of the way. Junior Caminero hit a solo drive off Skenes in the second to give the Dominicans a record 15 homers in the tournament, surpassing the mark set by Mexico in 2009. He finished the tournament hitting .350. The matchup between the two star-studded lineups didn’t fail to deliver big moments,...
