nopparit/E+ via Getty Images By Zain Vawda Gold ( XAUUSD:CUR ) prices fell in early European trade today as markets saw fears rise of a prolonged Middle East conflict. This comes at a time when major central banks, including the Federal Reserve, ECB and BoE, warned this week that a prolonged conflict could have significant implications for inflation and thus monetary policy. Reports suggest the US might launch new military attacks on Iran. This renews worries for market participants that the situation will get even worse and lead to more fighting. Due to the US dollar being seen as the safest money to hold during scary times, these tensions actually make the dollar stronger. However, when the dollar is strong and the world is focused on this type of conflict, it usually weighs on the price of gold. Add to that the inflation picture, and gold bulls may struggle in the near term until clarity is forthcoming. The Higher Time Frame: H4 Chart Analysis On the H4 time frame, the structural shift from bullish to bearish is evident. Gold has broken below several key horizontal support levels, most notably the 4,700 and 4,668 handles. The price is currently trading well below both the 100-period Simple Moving Average (MA) (Blue) and the 200-period MA (Orange). The RSI on this time frame is hovering near the 40 mark; while not yet oversold, it suggests that the path of least resistance remains to the downside. The major psychological level of 4,500 stands as the ultimate "line in the sand" for bulls. Gold (XAU/USD) Four-Hour Chart, May 1, 2026 (Source: TradingView) The Intermediate View: H1 Chart Analysis The H1 chart highlights the rejection at the 4,615 resistance level, which aligns closely with the 100-hour MA. After a brief corrective bounce on April 30th, the price failed to reclaim the 4,620 area, resulting in a sharp sell-off during the early May 1st sessions. We can observe that the 4,601 level, previously a support zone, has now transitioned into a formidable resista...

EyeEm Mobile GmbH/iStock via Getty Images Genesis Energy ( GEL ) is a midstream MLP. The company is going to report earnings next week, and following what's been a tough 2025, the company has tried to make progress cleaning up the balance sheet, like extending its debt maturity profile and paying down a portion of its convertible preferred stock. The issue is that the company remains heavily indebted, and growth prospects aren't coming online fast enough to stave away material concerns that the company may have to cut their distribution in the coming quarters, in my opinion. Business Profile Genesis provides a whole host of midstream services, including transportation, storage, sulfur removal, blending, terminaling, and processing for customers primarily in the Gulf of America and the surrounding region for both crude oil and natural gas. The company offers three distinct units—offshore pipeline transportation, marine transportation, and onshore transportation & services. The vast majority of revenue comes from the offshore business, and from a profitability standpoint , offshore is also the most important division, accounting for nearly 67% of total LTM Genesis segment profit. Marine comprises approximately 20%, while onshore is the remainder at 13%. The company is focused on its SYNC pipeline as well as the expansion of its CHOPS pipeline, and both of these are the primary source of recent capital expenditure. These pipelines are just now receiving their first volumes on the back of new production growth offshore from the Shenandoah development, an offshore floating production facility. The company is also starting to receive volume into their SEKCO pipeline from the Salamanca facility. The company has entered into long-term agreements to provide the transportation services through these pipelines with Beacon Offshore Energy, which is owned by Blackstone ( BX ). Recall that the SYNC pipeline is 100% owned by Genesis, while the CHOPS pipeline is 64% owned. What's i...

MF3d Monolithic Power Systems ( MPWR ) fell nearly 3% in premarket trading on Friday even after the semiconductor company reported quarterly results and guidance that were above Wall Street's forecast. For the fiscal first-quarter ended March 31, Monolithic said it earned an adjusted $5.10 per share as revenue jumped 26% year-over-year to come in at $804.2M. Included in that was $111.5M from communications, $262.8M from the enterprise, $174.4M from storage and computing, $152.4M from automotive, $48.6M from industrial, and $54.5M from its consumer segment. Analysts had expected the company to earn an adjusted $4.91 per share on $782.5M in revenue. Looking ahead to the second-quarter, Monolithic said it expects revenue between $890M and $910M, well above the $819.9M estimate. Adjusted gross margin is forecast to be between 55.3% and 55.9%, compared to the estimate of 55.5%. Following the conference call, Wall Street analysts were positive on Monolithic Power, and several increased their price targets. Here’s what a few of them had to say. Needham “MPS reported a solid beat and raise led by Enterprise Data and Comms growth,” analyst N. Quinn Bolton wrote in a research note. “Management raised the FY26 floor case for the Enterprise Data segment to 85%+ growth, driven by improved backlog and visibility. Key takeaways include: 1) Enterprise Data is being driven by the combination of ramps at existing and new customers and strength is coming from GPUs/XPUs and CPUs; 2) Communications is expected to be the 2nd strongest segment for FY26 as the ramp of optical modules and switching platforms provide tailwinds; 3) Sampling has commenced for MPS's DDR5 memory interface chipset solution; and, 4) MPS achieved its $4BN foundry capacity target and now targets $6BN to support future growth.” Bolton reiterated his Buy rating on Monolithic Power and upped his price target to $1,750 from $1,300. Oppenheimer “MPS reported upside results and significant upside outlook Thursday,” analys...

Leah Spasova, a psychologist from Oxfordshire, spent a decade fighting to obtain female sterilisation at her local trust, a procedure that blocks or seals the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy. By contrast, men can undergo a vasectomy, a procedure that stops sperm from being released. Continue reading...

ablokhin/iStock Editorial via Getty Images In recent months, we have seen the recovery of many freight and logistics stocks in line with the stronger performance of the industry. Of course, a large player like Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. ( ODFL ) also enjoyed a huge rebound and delivered 15% returns from my previous coverage. At this point, it still reflects the softer consumer spending. However, the impact of the LTL, or less-than-truckload, market undercapacity prevails and keeps pushing LTL rates up. This is why I still understand the optimistic market outlook. Despite all this, the fact of the matter is that the price of ODFL has already increased beyond the margin of safety, which can be risky amid increasing market volatility. Technicals adhere to it, considering the recent overbuying and some bearish divergence tendencies. ODFL Q1 2026: Softer Demand Continues, But Undercapacity Persists In the first three months of the year, macroeconomic risks have stayed evident, driven by stubborn inflation and tariff wars. And recently, the geopolitical tension in the Middle East has fueled market volatility. Yet, the LTL market remained resilient as demand-supply dynamics continued to work in its favor. Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. also benefited from this trend. This was evident in its most recent performance. In Q1 2026, its operating revenue amounted to $1.33B , down by 3.0% YoY from $1.37B. This should not be surprising considering the impact of the rising prices on consumer demand and production volumes. These have led to lower shipments. In fact, the YoY revenue decrease has been happening for seven consecutive quarters , or since Q3 2024. However, you should also note that the most recent YoY decrease was better than in my previous coverage at 5.7%. In fact, this appeared to be its best or at least most decent performance in seven quarters, as the YoY revenue decrease from Q3 2024 to Q4 2026 ranged from 5% to 8%. More interestingly, the YoY decrease has ge...

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) stock plunged on Thursday as investors balked at its plans to increase capital expenditures to fund its AI ambitions. Meta is considered one of the big hyperscalers, and it's spending over $100 billion in capex this year, like Amazon , Alphabet , and Microsoft . However, Meta is the only one of those four companies that doesn't have a cloud computing business , which is the most direct way to monetize spending on chips and data centers. The company also has a dubious track record of capital allocation, given its consistent losses in Reality Labs, its AI-focused division, which lost $4 billion in the first quarter on just $402 million in revenue, essentially the same thing it did in the quarter a year ago.
