Trump Announces Military Coalition With Latin American Leaders To Eradicate Cartels Authored by Emel Akan and T.J.Muscaro via The Epoch Times, U.S. President Donald Trump on March 7 welcomed his Latin American allies to Florida for a summit focused on addressing regional issues and announced a new military coalition to combat drug cartels in the Western Hemisphere. “On this historic day, we come together to announce a brand new military coalition to eradicate the criminal cartels plaguing our region,” Trump said as he began his remarks at the summit. He said that the new partnership, called the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition, will leverage military resources, including the possible use of missiles, to combat the cartels. The heads of state of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, and Trinidad and Tobago attended today’s summit, the White House said. The event, called the Shield of the Americas Summit, is taking place at Trump National Doral Club in Miami and is the first such regional meeting to bring together, as the State Department described, “like-minded allies” in the Western Hemisphere. “We’re going to be doing some incredible things together,” Trump told the leaders. All countries in attendance are governed by right-wing or center-right parties, while left-leaning governments such as Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico did not participate in the summit. On March 5, Trump announced that outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will lead the effort as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas. During his remarks, Trump criticized previous U.S. administrations for abandoning the Western Hemisphere. “They went so far away. They went to these faraway places where they weren’t even wanted,” Trump said. The Donroe Doctrine In its national security strategy released in November 2025, the Trump administration made the Western Hemisphere its top priority, stating that it was a “great Amer...

The Trade Desk (TTD) jumped 22.9% following CEO Jeff Green’s massive $148 million stock buy. That made the Trade Desk the number one performer in the entire S&P 500 index last week. Palantir (PLTR) and CrowdStrike (CRWD) also saw big jumps last week. CrowdStrike’s first GAAP profit and Palantir’s defense-tech positioning amid Middle East strikes drove the two stocks higher despite a general market sell-off. The S&P 500 (SPY) fell nearly 2% on the week, while the Nasdaq 100 dropped about 1.2% and the Russell 2000 small-cap index tumbled over 4%. The VIX fear gauge climbed to 29.49, and is now up 70% in the past month, reflecting genuine investor unease. Geopolitical tension in the Middle East, tariff uncertainty, and a choppy macro backdrop kept broad indexes under pressure. Yet a handful of S&P 500 names surged double digits, driven by earnings catalysts, insider conviction, and defense-sector tailwinds. The stock market tends to love growth, so investing in hypergrowth stocks could be a good idea -- if you pick the right ones. Let's look at the stocks of five companies growing their revenue by 40% or more to consider buying in 2026. Nvidia Given its size, it still boggles the mind that Nvidia (NVDA 2.94%) is a hypergrowth stock, but that is exactly what it is. The semiconductor company saw its revenue soar 73% last quarter to $68.1 billion. Meanwhile, it just forecast its revenue growth to accelerate to 77% in Q1. With the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure boom continuing unabated and the company's graphics processing units (GPUs) being the main chips powering AI workloads, the company still has a lot of growth in front of it. Meanwhile, the combination of its CUDA software platform and NVLink interconnect system provides it with a wide moat. Micron Technology As demand for GPUs and other AI chips surges, so does demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which is packaged with these chips to optimize their performance. Meanwhile, with HBM requiring upwards of three times the wafer capacity of traditional DRAM (dynamic random access memory), prices for HBM and DRAM in general are skyrocketing due to a lack of supply. Just as importantly, its gross margins expanded from 38.4% to 56%, leading to a surge in profits and cash flow. With the company expecting HBM demand to grow at a 40% annual growth rate over the next few years and DRAM prices likely to remain high, the company has a long runway of growth ahead. Palantir Technologies With revenue growth accelerating for 10 straight quarter...

Key Points Medicare Advantage could save you money, but that's not a given. Pay attention to total costs and drug formularies. Understand the importance of sticking to your plan's provider network. The $23,760 Social Security bonus most retirees completely overlook › There's a reason some retirees opt to sign up for Medicare Advantage instead of sticking to original Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans commonly offer coverage beyond what original Medicare pays for. And Advantage plans also put caps on annual out-of-pocket spending, allowing retirees to better budget for healthcare bills. But if you're inclined to sign up for Medicare Advantage, there are certain mistakes you might fall victim to. Here are three common ones you should make every effort to avoid. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » 1. Choosing a plan based on premium costs alone Many Medicare Advantage plans have low monthly premiums. Some even have $0 premiums. If you're a retiree on a fixed income, those low-cost plans can be tempting. But it's a mistake to choose your Medicare Advantage coverage based on premium costs alone. The reason? Premiums are only a piece of the total puzzle. You may also be on the hook for deductibles, co-pays, and other costs that can add up quickly. So when comparing your plan choices, pay attention to total costs -- not just premiums. 2. Not paying attention to provider networks Unlike original Medicare, which lets you see any provider that accepts Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans typically require you to use a specific network of doctors and hospitals. If you go outside of your plan's network, you could face higher costs or, in some cases, no coverage at all. Before you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, verify that your preferred doctors are in network. Otherwise, go in knowing you may nee...

Deep in the Angolan Highlands lurks a rumored new species of elephant. Conservationist and ornithologist Steve Boyes has been searching for this elusive herd for years and the story of his journey is the focus of Ghost Elephants , a haunting, evocative documentary directed by Werner Herzog . The film debuted at the Venice International Film Festival last summer and is now coming to National Geographic and Disney+. It might seem unusual for an ornithologist to embark on a quest to find remote pachyderms, but for Boyes the connection is perfectly natural. He grew up in South Africa and wanted nothing more than to be an explorer, just like the people he read about every month in National Geographic magazine. "I grew up waiting for the magazine to arrive; I wanted the maps," Boyes told Ars. "Those would become my garden, or the field beyond, or the river—wild places imagined and real." Boyes' parents frequently took him and his brother out into the wild, including visits to Botswana and Tanzania. "We used to embed ourselves in baboon troops and walk with impalas," said Boyes, and while his brother feared elephants, Boyes was walking with them from a young age. Ghost Elephants contains some gorgeous underwater footage of elephant feet plodding through the water, and elephants swimming on their sides, behavior that matches Boyes' own experiences with the animals. Under the right circumstances, if they don't feel threatened, elephants "will come and swim around you and with you and interact with you," he said. "So elephants have always fascinated me." A pair of inflation reports, including the Federal Reserve’s preferred price gauge, surface in the coming week after a dismal February jobs report that challenged perceptions the labor market is stabilizing. The consumer price index report on Wednesday is projected to show a core inflation measure, which strips out volatile food and energy costs, rose just 0.2% in February. That would suggest some easing in price pressures before the outbreak of the war in Iran introduced new uncertainty about the inflation outlook. Data out Friday, however, will likely paint a picture of more stubborn inflation. Economists see the Fed’s favored core personal consumption expenditures price index up 0.4% again in January. Compared with the same month last year, the median forecast calls for a 3% increase — little changed from the end of 2024. The latest readings on inflation cover periods before the US and Israel started a bombing campaign against Iran. With military operations ongoing, and no indications of how long they’ll continue, oil prices have soared as a swath of refineries in the region reduce output. Read more: Traders Warn $100 Oil Is Imminent If Iran War Keeps Raging Americans are already paying more to drive following one of the biggest weekly increases in retail gasoline prices since 2005, when Hurricane Katrina shut refineries along the Gulf Coast. The spike in prices at the pump will likely translate into higher overall inflation in March. With annual inflation holding above the Fed’s 2% goal, policymakers are likely to keep interest rates unchanged at their March 17-18 meeting. US central bankers in the coming week will observe a blackout period that prohibits comments about the economy or monetary policy. Gulf nations on Saturday reported new missile and drone attacks, while Iran vowed to press on with its strikes against neighbouring countries. Loud explosions were heard in Dubai, the Qatari capital Doha and Bahrain, while attacks were later reported in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, where the national oil company announced a “precautionary” cut to production. The attacks came despite Iran’s president earlier apologising to Gulf countries for prior strikes, saying they would no longer be targeted unless strikes were launched from their territory first. Advertisement Hours later, Iran said it would continue conducting strikes on sites in Gulf countries that were “at the disposal of the enemy”. UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said in a rare televised address that the Emirates were in “a period of war” and “will emerge stronger” from it. Advertisement Dubai authorities said Saturday evening one person was killed by debris from an “aerial interception”, adding they were a Pakistani national.

Can Microsoft's stock get back over $500 per share? 10 stocks we like better than Microsoft › Since last October, when Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) surged to an all-time high of $540 per share, the stock has been in free fall. As of March 3, shares are down some 24% from those October highs to $410 per share. The drop is in part due to investors rotating out of overvalued tech stocks, but there are also Microsoft-specific concerns that have caused the price to tank. Most of the decline came after Microsoft's fiscal second-quarter earnings report for the period ended Dec. 31. Shares plummeted more than 17% to below $400 per share on several concerns. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » Part of it was high capital expenditures (capex) and artificial intelligence (AI) spending for 2026. Investors are concerned that while Microsoft's Azure AI cloud computing revenue has been strong, it grew at a slightly slower pace last quarter. And the expectation for next quarter is even a little bit slower. We're talking a 40% growth pace falling to 37% to 38% growth, so it's not like a massive drop-off. However, it was enough to rattle some investors, particularly when combined with the fact that Microsoft had record capex spending last quarter and anticipates even higher capex spending this fiscal year. OpenAI concentration risk The other concern is Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI. Much of its massive $625 billion in remaining performance obligations, or RPO -- AI contracts in the pipeline -- comes from OpenAI, about 45% to be exact, according to Microsoft CFO Amy Hood on the latest earnings call. There are worries about Microsoft stoc...
