Demand for Nintendo Co. ’s profit-earning game software is under threat from soaring prices for data storage, clouding efforts to build a Switch 2 ecosystem that’s resilient to tariffs and military conflict. A global rush to build artificial intelligence hardware by the likes of Meta Platforms Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. is spurring big jumps in the price of NAND flash memory, used to store and access data for long-term use in gadgets as well as data centers. NAND contract prices are forecast to surge as much as 90% in the current quarter compared with the previous three-month period, when prices rose more than 30%, according to research firm TrendForce. That’s a problem for Nintendo, which needs to sell as many games as possible to make up for razor-thin margins on the consoles, which retail for around $450 and are already under pressure from US tariffs as well as a likely rise in shipping costs related to the conflict in the Middle East. “I used to buy games on a whim, without paying attention to storage,” said Shinsuke Hasegawa, an avid gamer in Tokyo with dozens of games for the Switch and its successor. “But I now need to make sure that games I buy are really ones I want to play because the space is filling up so quickly, at a pace that I didn’t imagine.” Nintendo’s storage problem is weighing on software demand, alongside factors such as game launch timings. Initial software sales momentum for the Switch 2, the world’s fastest-selling console, lags behind the original Switch’s. As of end-December, when Switch 2 sales hit 17.37 million units, the average number of games purchased per console came to 2.18, according to Bloomberg calculations based on company filings . When the original Switch reached a similar hardware sales milestone in March 2018, that figure stood at 3.88. Users like Hasegawa were behind the original S...

TPG Inc. is considering options for Asia OneHealthcare Sdn. , including a sale or initial public offering, amid increasing deal activity for private equity-owned assets, according to people familiar with the matter. TPG has been speaking with advisers working on a separate IPO by Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd. to evaluate a course of action, the people said, asking not to be identified because the deliberations are private. A deal might value the Kuala Lumpur-based medical services provider at as much as 30 billion ringgit ($7.6 billion), two of the people said. Considerations are preliminary and no final decisions have been made, the people said. TPG may also decide to keep its stake in the health-care firm, the people added, without disclosing the size of the holding. A representative for TPG declined to comment. Hong Leong Group and TPG acquired a batch of hospitals from Asia OneHealthcare, then known as Columbia Asia Healthcare , for about $1.2 billion in 2019 . The company has expanded both organically and via acquisitions, including the purchase of the hospital unit of Australia’s Ramsay Health Care Ltd. and Malaysian conglomerate Sime Darby Bhd. for 5.7 billion ringgit in 2023. TPG has been involved in other recent deals in Southeast Asia, including agreeing to sell a majority stake in XCL Education Holdings Pte to KKR & Co. in a transaction valuing the school operator at about $1.3 billion. KKR also led a group that agreed to acquire data center operator STT GDC Pte for $5.2 billion. Sunway Healthcare, meanwhile, is expected to list on March 18 in a 2.86 billion ringgit IPO, which would be the biggest debut in Malaysia nine years. March 5 (Reuters) - Nvidia has stopped production of chips intended for the Chinese market, betting that regulatory barriers in the U.S. and China will continue to limit sales to the world's second-largest economy, the Financial Times reported on Thursday. The U.S. chipmaker has reallocated manufacturing capacity at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company away from making H200 chips to its next-generation Vera Rubin hardware, the report said, citing two people with knowledge of the matter. The U.S. Senate voted to block a Democratic-led resolution that would have restricted President Donald Trump's authority to conduct further military strikes on Iran without congressional approval. The action aligns with Republican support for Trump's ongoing campaign against Iran amid escalating U.S.-Israeli operations. The Senate voted 53 to 47 not to advance the resolution. Nearly all Republicans opposed the measure, with only Sen. Rand Paul joining Democrats in favor; Sen. John Fetterman was the sole Democrat against it. The Democrats cautioned that the administration has bypassed Congress and risked drawing the U.S. into a broader conflict without proper oversight. While the Republicans mainly defended Trump’s actions, calling them legal and necessary for U.S. national security and within the President’s authority as commander-in-chief. “ Democrats, of course, rushed to turn this successful strike into a political fight,” Senator John Barrasso said on the Senate floor. “National security moves fast. That’s why our Constitution says: ‘Give the commander in chief real authority.’ ” The vote comes amid an expanding conflict with Iran and Trump's airstrikes on Iranian targets, including nuclear sites and leadership, as part of "Operation Epic Fury" launched days earlier with Israel. Abstract Aerial Art/DigitalVision via Getty Images Investment Thesis The report for Q4 and the whole of 2025 turned out to be rather weak for Core Natural Resources ( CNR ), although it managed to beat market expectations in terms of revenue. Downtime in the mines and one-time expenses led to operating losses, which negatively affected stock prices after the financial statements were released. My view of the company has not changed, and I maintain a Hold rating, as I believe that the market price of the shares is close to their fair value, and the drivers for growth, in my opinion, are limited. I updated my DCF model and got a target price of $82 per share with a downside of 11% to the current price ($92 at the time of writing). At the same time, I do not recommend selling the shares, as I do not see strong reasons for their fall in price, but short-term corrections of 5-10% are quite possible. At this price, it is much more reasonable to continue to hold the shares in the portfolio and buy them back at dips. Q4 Earnings Miss: Weak Margins Offset Strong Revenue Performance Before proceeding to the analysis of the financial statements for Q4, I recommend studying my first article about the company, where I analyzed in detail the history of its formation, business model, and development strategy. Seeking Alpha Reporting for Q4 was worse than expected, primarily due to weak data on the profitability and marginality of the business. However, there are some positive aspects. Revenue increased by 81% yoy to $1.04 billion . This strong growth was due to the effect of business mergers. The consensus forecast for the quarter was as much as 4.6% lower than the final result. As a result, the company earned $4.16 billion throughout the year, which is 89% higher than yoy, again due to the effect of the merger. Revenue for the quarter was higher than market expectations 3 times out of 4. Investor Presentation Nevertheless, the report was interpreted by the market as negative. All...
