Luis Alvarez Seeking Alpha analysts Gary Alexander and Bang For The Buck have upgraded EverQuote ( EVER ) and Peabody Energy ( BTU ) respectively, citing AI-driven improvements and attractive entry points following price weakness. On the downside, Kenio Fontes has moved Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) to Hold, while APAC Research has downgraded Home Depot ( HD ) to Sell amid mounting macroeconomic pressures. Upgrades Peabody Energy ( BTU ): Upgrade to Buy by Bang For The Buck . The analyst views recent share price weakness as a compelling entry point, with improving coking coal prices and the ramp-up of the Centurion project in Australia set to boost the Seaborne Metallurgical segment’s earnings contribution materially. “I have a hard time seeing the increased focus on energy supply and energy security being anything but positive for Peabody in the medium-to-long-term. So, I consequently consider the recent weakness as a good buying opportunity, and I have changed the rating from a Hold to a Buy for Peabody.” EverQuote ( EVER ): Upgrade to Buy by Gary Alexander . Following a surprise Q1 beat, the analyst highlights the company’s successful integration of AI-driven tools like SmartCampaign, which have tripled revenue per employee since 2023 and position the company for continued growth. “EverQuote has just been re-rated from a bargain basement stock to merely cheap, but don't let the speed of the recovery prevent you from buying. Given the company's cleaner narrative on how it intends to prepare for AI traffic and its recovery in core top-line metrics, the road is paved for further gains ahead. While I wouldn't bet the proverbial farm on this stock, EverQuote is now worth a small position.” Downgrades Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ): Downgrade to Hold by Kenio Fontes . While AMD delivered strong Q1 results with 57% year-over-year Data Center growth, the analyst believes the valuation has become stretched compared to Nvidia, diminishing the margin of safety for investor...

Anyone who has ever worked in No. 10 knows that no matter how much you try to mop MP brows and trill that local election results are just mid-term blues, when lawmakers figure out what the voting would mean for them if replicated in a general election, they hit the panic button (alongside telling No. 10 they are “clueless and out of touch and know nothing about the trials of decent hard-working local MPs”... I can remember the wrath of frustrated backbenchers even five years on). The worry for Keir Starmer is that the bad results expected for Labour this Thursday will see the herd begin to move. Unhappy voters now have four or five political options to choose from, as this excellent primer shows: “The Conservative-Labour duopoly that governed British politics for the past century appears locked in terminal decline,” our team writes. This week must be making the Prime Minister feel fairly confused. Away from election speculation, suggestions of a breakthrough in negotiations with Iran have seen the markets swoon with new found optimism - gilts have had their best day in weeks . Brent crude tumbled, easing expectations on interest rates, thus the pressure on government borrowing and lastly thus, HMG. Ordinarily this would see the teams across Nos. 10 & 11 fist bumping... were it not for the impending election results. Indeed, investors are debating how worried to be by Friday and the possibility of more political instability . (My hunch? It will take a while for the picture to settle, particularly as the most popular alternative to Starmer, Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, isn’t even in Parliament yet.) But better news from the Middle East will likely have very little bearing on Thursday’s results. London, where there are enough Labour MPs for a mini football league (nearly 80% of London’s 75 MPs) is a strategic vulnerability right in the centre of Keir Starmer Land. He’s a London MP himself, so is his transport secretary, justice secretary and housing secretary. This l...

Late withdrawal from Italian Open casts significant doubt over player’s chances of competing at Roland Garros In the end Emma Raducanu was one of the first in and out the grandiose gates of the Foro Italico this year. She had arrived in Rome early, eager to test her health and readiness for top-level competition through a series of training sessions on the heavy red clay courts of the Italian Open. As the hours on court piled up, and her planned opening match on Thursday drew closer, it seemed reasonable to conclude that she would make her first appearance in two months. Instead, her absence from the courts will extend to more than two months. Things are rarely straightforward with Raducanu, demonstrated by the nature of her withdrawal in Rome , which occurred just 30 minutes after she gave little indication of her intention toduring a press conference. The past few months, as usual, have come with ample speculation about Raducanu’s health, meaning her appearance in Rome was at least an opportunity for her to provide clarity on her recent struggles. Somehow, the manner of her exit only generated further questions. Continue reading...

The SpaceX and Anthropic mega-IPOs may not be the boon to the stock market investors think they'll be. Wall Street has been rolling out the red carpet for some of the most eagerly anticipated public debuts in recent memory — helped along by the Trump administration's initiative to deregulate public and private markets to "make IPOs great again" — with index providers changing their rules for faster inclusion and rejiggering the math on free float multiples. But those accommodations "smack of late-stage machinations" that could signal the end of the stock market's bull run, Bank of America suggested. The late stage of the investment cycle refers to the highly speculative period in which amateur buyers bid up securities, quietly offloaded by institutional investors, that precedes a downturn. The massive IPOs could also flood the market with shares, which could actually hurt prices, according to the firm's equity and quant strategist Savita Subramanian. The shrinking number of shares in the investable universe has been one of the pillars of recent bull markets. The number of publicly traded securities dropped to roughly 4,000 last year from a peak of more than 8,000 back in the 1990s, according to the Center for Research in Security Prices. "Say goodbye to the 'equity shrinkage' bull case: since the early 2000s, a confluence of factors systematically reduced available public equity year after year – more buybacks, longer private incubations, more take privates, low rates, ample liquidity, etc.," Subramanian wrote. "Today, an issuance deluge may be imminent." That influx of shares could fundamentally alter the stock market, which is already at all-time highs thanks to a small cohort of high-flying stocks . After the breadth expansion that marked the first part of 2026, the recent rally has more to do with strong earnings growth from the "Magnificent Seven," which accounts for roughly one-third of the S & P 500 . While the S & P 500 soared more than 10% in April, the equ...

The Nutribullet Chill won’t demand as much counter or storage space as other ice cream makers. | Image: Nutribullet For the past few months, I've defiantly walked past the Ninja Creami at Costco as I think about our air fryer, toaster oven, breadmaker, rice cooker, and stand mixer already vying for limited counter space. Nutribullet's new Chill ice cream maker could finally break my resolve with its smaller footprint. While the Creami's base measures 17.44 by 8.58 inches, the Chill's is just 9.6 by 5.74 inches, making it easier to squeeze onto a kitchen counter and later store once my family tires of DIY frozen treats. The Chill is now available from Nutribullet's online store and Amazon for $199.99 and comes with a pair of 16-ounce pint cups. You'll als … Read the full story at The Verge.

Airbnb ( ABNB ) is set to announce its first-quarter earnings on Thursday, and investors will watch out for the company’s gross booking value (GBV) growth as well as revenue growth, following product initiatives around hotels and initiatives such as 'Reserve Now, Pay Later.’ Wall Street expects the San Francisco-based rental home company to post EPS of $0.31 on revenue of $2.62B for the quarter. The company, with a market cap of $83.07B, said it expects to generate $2.59B to $2.63B in revenue, representing growth of 14% to 16% and above the $2.53B estimate. Gross bookings are expected to increase in the low teens, driven by high-single-digit growth in nights and stays booked. Wall Street analysts are bullish, rating the company a Buy . Oppenheimer upgraded the online travel stock to Outperform from a previous Perform rating, with a price target of $180. The brokerage firm expects product initiatives around hotels, the “Reserve Now, Pay Later” initiative, and AI search to generate durable revenue acceleration that is not fully reflected in consensus estimates. Analyst Jed Kelly thinks the AI opportunity is now more tangible for investors. "We expect Airbnb's conversational search to leverage design and supply scale and boost conversion. Additionally, it sets the precedent to introduce sponsored listings that can use natural language, simplifying visibility for all host types," he added. Tigress Financial Partners reiterated its Buy rating but reduced its price target to $185 from $200. The brokerage firm highlighted that ABNB’s AI-powered growth flywheel and partnership opportunities are expanding its ecosystem and driving ongoing growth, while its FIFA partnership could create a significant World Cup-driven boost. However, on average, Seeking Alpha’s Quant Rating and analysts are cautious, rating the firm a Hold. Vladimir Dimitrov said Airbnb's upcoming Q1 report is loaded with significant expectations about accelerating revenue and gross booking growth. However, ma...
