A mass trial of 400 people including the jailed mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has opened in Turkey in a sprawling corruption case critics say is a politically motivated attempt to scupper his chances of challenging Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the presidency. Hundreds of former and current employees of the Istanbul municipality are due to give evidence, including more than 106 people already in jail. All stand accused of involvement in a broad network of corruption and organised crime centred on İmamoğlu’s office. İmamoğlu, the mayor of Turkey’s largest city, was arrested last year during a raid on his home, shortly after announcing his intention to run for president on behalf of the country’s largest opposition party, the Republican People’s party (CHP). After his election in 2019, İmamoğlu quickly rose to become Erdoğan’s nemesis, occupying a position the president once held and rising in political stature to challenge him on the national stage. After declaring his intention to run for president, Istanbul University annulled İmamoğlu’s diploma, a requirement to run for Turkey’s highest office. His arrest sent shockwaves through Turkish society, sparking nightly mass protests around the municipality building that contained his office where hundreds were detained. The CHP vowed to fight the arrest, holding a symbolic vote to name İmamoğlu as their candidate for president in an election expected to take place next year. Key Points Ethereum is valuable because it's backed by a large and growing ecosystem with lots of capital and activity. World Liberty Financial is largely a project intended to benefit its insiders. Dogecoin is a project created without any specific intentions. 10 stocks we like better than Ethereum › Not every cryptocurrency with a prominent name or a big market cap actually deserves your investment dollars, even if you're only looking to allocate $1,000. Some of the most well-known assets aren't worth your money. To make the distinction extra clear, let's take a look at one coin that's worth buying right now and two popular ones you should avoid. Will AI create the world's first trillionaire? Our team just released a report on the one little-known company, called an "Indispensable Monopoly" providing the critical technology Nvidia and Intel both need. Continue » Ethereum has a reason for capital to stay What separates a serious cryptocurrency with a real investment thesis from a frivolous one that's guaranteed to lose your capital? One good answer to that question is that the serious projects tend to attract outside capital to an internal ecosystem, and then keep it there. Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) is thus essentially the textbook definition of the kind of crypto asset that's worth owning. It currently hosts roughly 57% of all value locked in the decentralized finance (DeFi) universe, with more than $56 billion in total value locked (TVL) into its smart contracts and applications. At the same time, it hosts a whopping $159 billion in stablecoins, slightly more than half of all stablecoin value in existence across all blockchains. You don't even particularly need to understand what DeFi is to appreciate the scale of the capital on the Ethereum network. In practical terms, its base of capital means that it has plenty of fuel for funding its on-chain lending markets, liquidity pools, staking services, and, increasingly, its ecosystem of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs...

SCM Jeans/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Embraer S.A. ( EMBJ ) has lost over 22.6% since my last report . The company recently reported earnings that included positive news on future tariff impacts, but that seemingly has not been enough for Embraer to taper losses in a risk-averse market setting. In this report, I discuss Embraer’s full-year earnings for 2025, the outlook for 2026, and update my price target. While the stock price has not been in line with what I am looking for in names with a strong buy rating, I do believe that the rating remains justified. Putting The Embraer Share Price Decline In Context Data by YCharts I do like looking at quarterly earnings and analyzing them, but at the same time, I also believe we should keep our eyes on the longer-term performance. Not only because I am analyzing stocks through a longer-term lens, but also because cycles in the aerospace and defense industry are long, and therefore short-term impacts to the stock price at times may indicate timing issues rather than any major pressure in the long-term picture. Over a one-year time frame, we note that Embraer’s share price performance has indeed not been phenomenal. The stock returned 21.5% compared to 18.3% for the S&P 500. So, share prices of the Brazilian jet maker did outperform the S&P 500, but they underperformed the Aerospace ETFs, which returned 62.8% and 74.3%. Since I upgraded Embraer stock to a buy rating in September 2022, the stock price return has been phenomenal, with a 486% return, outperforming the S&P 500’s 74.3% return and the aerospace ETFs with a 142.4% and 167.1% return. While the recent performance has definitely been disappointing, we can still point to the strong multi-year returns. That, however, is not necessarily a reason for me to remain undividedly bullish, as even more than leaning on the long-term return, we should carefully consider whether Embraer is not losing momentum for further upside.
