Thereafter, WTI crude oil gains have been reduced by almost half to around 13% to trade at around $102.90/barrel after a media report highlighted that three of the G-7 countries, including the US, have expressed support for a possible joint release of their respective stockpile of oil reserves. The recent steep rally seen in oil prices - WTI crude oil recorded a weekly gain of 35.6% for the week of March 2, 2026, its best weekly performance since the week of July 30, 1979 (+38.7%) - has been attributed to a rising risk that global oil supplies may face significant shortages to a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz after Iran stated that its military forces are prepared to continue an “intense war” against the US and Israel for at least six months. The choice sends a signal that the country’s hardliners are still in control of the country and will remain defiant against President Trump’s demand for “unconditional surrender.” With neither side blinking, a quick end to the war, now in its tenth day, still appears elusive. The main macro effect: oil prices on Sunday soared to nearly $120 a barrel for the US benchmark (West Texas Intermediate) before pulling back to just above $100 in early trading on Monday (Mar. 9). The spike marks the first return to triple-digit pricing in four years. Assessing the risk outlook for the global economy boils down to a basic calculus: How long can Iran hold out? The reasonable view: Not long. The combined military might of the US and Israel is vastly superior to Iran’s. But The Islamic Republic is fighting for its survival and is probably reasoning that it has little to gain from acceding to Washington’s demands. Vietnam was the top buyer of 47,700 RB, with 45,600 RB sold to Pakistan. Export shipments were just 57,834 RB in that week, a MY low. Recent efforts emphasize AI expansion and cloud growth. The company has a massive market capitalization of $3.61 trillion, which positions the stock as a “mega-cap” giant. GOOG last reached a 52-week high of $350.15 on Feb. 3, but is down 14.8% from that level. Investor concerns about the company’s rising spending have led to the stock’s recent decline, along with dips tied to broader market issues. Over the past three months, Alphabet’s stock has dropped 7.4%. On the other hand, the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) is down only 1.9% over the past three months. However, Alphabet’s dominance in digital advertising and cloud computing has fueled a rally in its stock over the past year. Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has gained 71.2%, while the S&P 500 index is up 17.5%. Contrarily, GOOG’s stock is down 4.9% year-to-date (YTD), while the broader index is down 1.5%. GOOG’s shares have been trading above its 200-day moving average since mid-2025, while below the 50-day moving average since early February 2026. Google’s dominance in the ad-revenue segment has kept the company’s fundamentals strong. Alphabet generated $82.28 billion in Google advertising revenue for the fourth quarter, growing by 13.6% year-over-year (YOY). The operating income from Google Services grew 22.2% YOY to $40.13 billion. For the current year, Wall Street analysts expect Alphabet’s profit to increase by 7.3% YOY to $11.60 per diluted share. Today AMD formally announced those higher-tier Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series parts.The Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series up to six cores continue to be sampled now while the models up to 12 cores are formally launching today. These higher-core AMD Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series processors are targeting industrial automation applications. The Ryzen AI Embedded X100 series parts at up to 16 Zen 5 cores will be available during the second half of the year. These Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series designs pair Zen 5 cores with RDNA 3.5 graphics and an XDNA2 NPU. The 8-12 core models come with a TDP between 15 and 54 Watts and 16 lanes of PCIe Gen 4. With the industrial use-cases in mind, the Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series are rated for 24/7 operation with a 10-year lifetime for these BGA designs. Notably the Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series is certified for AMD ROCm use for its RDNA 3.5 iGPU. Silicon production of these new Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series parts is slated for Q3. Reference boards will be out in H2. The 8-12 core models include the Ryzen AI Embedded P164, P174, P185, P164i, P174i, and P185i models. The i-postfix models are rated for industrial temperatures. The order came from one of Applied Optoelectronics long-term hyperscale customers. "We are seeing a clear progression toward higher-speed optics as AI clusters scale, and our transceiver portfolio enables our customers to order both 400G and 800G or 1.6T from us," said Dr. Thompson Lin , Founder, Chairman, and CEO of AOI. The company is expanding its existing facility in Taiwan and has started construction on a new facility in Sugar Land, Texas. This will enable the company to produce more than 500,000 combined 800G and 1.6T transceivers per month by the end of the year. "The initial order from this long-time customer, totaling more than $200 million, is expected to return this customer to its previous status as a 10%+ customer for AOI," added Applied Optoelectronics Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer Stefan Murry.
