narvo vexar/iStock via Getty Images Introduction In January of this year, I reviewed the SA Quant top 10 picks from 2025 and the new recommendations for 2026 . The algorithm and quant grades are mostly backward-looking with an emphasis on market perception, i.e., momentum and upward earnings revisions, as well as growth and profitability metrics. The system works and has produced exceptional returns through the years. The 2025 performance was good with a 44% gain, but disappointing compared to what 2024 had returned, over 300%. This year's portfolio is a heavy bet on the AI trade, with 60% deriving its growth from the data center build ecosystem. Performance So far, the 2026 selection has gained over 50% with Micron Technology ( MU ) and Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) contributing 65% of the gain, and the AI trade selection 88%. Barrick ( B ) is down on lower gold prices, and only Willdan ( WLDN ), an energy consultant, is down due to weak results. ATI ( ATI ) has been a surprise outperformer as it piggybacks on the aerospace growth. What is interesting and repeats in other years is the sometimes massive gap in performance vs. consensus price target. In January, the market had an 8% downside for MU, and it went up nearly 200%. This demonstrates the inherent lack of visibility or a cognizant bias for many stocks that are in a fundamental alteration of the business model or environment. According to Wall Street, this portfolio was a dud. Created by author with data from Capital IQ and SA Quant Grade Rating Update The SA quant team rates five metrics and assigns a grade of A+ to F. I reversed this and assigned a numerical value (5 to 0) to each letter grade, which then sums up to generate a total score, with 25 being the maximum grade. In the table below, we see that valuation is consistently weak for the SA Quant team selection, and what matters more is momentum. The Jan 2026 portfolio grade was 18.9, with MU the top-scoring company. Mid-year, the portfolio score has ...

IBM ( IBM ) and its unit Red Hat have commercially launched Project Lightwell to provide automated vulnerability remediation at scale through two offerings, Lightwell Network and Lightwell Clearinghouse Premier. IBM noted that Lightwell offerings help enterprises mitigate open source risk without disruptive upgrades. The U.S. tech giant said Lightwell Network gives enterprises access to a launch catalog of over 6,500 remediated, digitally signed, and certified application-layer dependencies across major ecosystems, including Java and Python. The company noted that Lightwell Clearinghouse Premier enters a limited-availability phase, serving as a trusted intermediary for secured patch embargoes and vertical threat coordination. In May, IBM unveiled Project Lightwell, a $5B commitment to create a new clearinghouse for open-source software with a new frontier AI model. The company noted that the initiative is backed by a global force of more than 20,000 engineers to oversee and scale Lightwell's advanced, AI-driven remediation capabilities. "IBM and Red Hat are giving enterprises certified fixes they can pull straight into the systems they already run, with no retooling or disruption, backed by a growing network of technology and delivery partners," said Rob Thomas, senior vice president, Software and chief commercial officer, IBM. Last month. Palo Alto Networks ( PANW ) and IBM said they are integrating Palo Alto Networks Virtual Patching capability with Project Lightwell, and the partnership combines rapid network-level protection with software remediation to help organizations reduce exposure to emerging threats. Subscribe here to receive future editions. As new GLP-1 drugs enter the U.S. market and landmark Medicare coverage rolls out , one thing remains the same: Most employers still aren't covering those drugs for weight loss. Many health plans are actually finding ways around it. "It's a battle to try to keep costs down," Justin Held, director of educational programs at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, said in an interview. "It seems like they're not necessarily offering coverage for weight loss, but they're instead focusing on how to support the overall health of their workers." The findings are from a survey released Tuesday by that nonprofit organization, IFEBP, which includes more than 33,000 member companies or public institutions. It was conducted in June on almost 300 employer health plans in the U.S. Around 36% of employers said they provide coverage of GLP-1s for both diabetes and weight loss, the same as 2025 and up from 34% in 2024, the survey said. Meanwhile, 60% of employers said they offer coverage for diabetes only, up from 55% in 2025 and 57% in 2024. Roughly 45% of plans said they cover GLP-1s for other approved conditions, such as obstructive sleep apnea and heart disease. The fact that employer coverage of weight loss is flat compared to last year is no surprise. Health plans have long balked at the high costs involved with covering GLP-1 drugs from Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, especially as demand soars in the U.S. To curb costs, plans have restricted coverage or stopped it entirely. Cost remains a primary driver in employer decisions around GLP-1 coverage, Held said. In 2026, respondents sai...

His byelection stunt shows he is clearly rattled by a perilous position. Wildcards rarely endure: his future is behind him Britain’s politics was never so weird. First, the people of Makerfield choose who should be the new prime minister. Now the people of Clacton are to confirm the man who is currently his most popular challenger. Nigel Farage’s Reform UK is still running ahead of all other parties, and he is ahead of all other current leaders. It would be foolish to underestimate him. Farage is a cut above the normal populist upstart. His image as the amiable duffer in the golf club bar was once that of a traditional Tory backbencher. He took to Brexit not as an economic theoretician but as a flag-waving nationalist. He exploited race as a populist issue, coded as immigration, but had little interest in any wider political programme. Brexit to him was simply a mid-career adventure. Michael Vi/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Palantir Technologies Inc. ( PLTR ) was the hottest stock on the market in 2024/2025. In 2024, it gained 340%, followed by another 135% massive gain in 2025. Everywhere I went back then, I heard about Palantir, which to me is a clear indication of a bubbly territory when a taxi driver from the airport is explaining the firm's fantastic business model. Now, everything has changed. After Palantir hit its all-time high of $208 last November, it was in a continual decline, currently trading around the $130-mark. That's a decline of 1/3 in a share price. Data by YCharts How is Palantir's business doing? It has been stronger. This is a short exercise to show you how exuberant optimism drives stock prices, and once the stock isn't trendy anymore, investors simply discard it. This behavior is the reason why, for the past 2 years, I've never upgraded Palantir's stock from Hold to Buy. And, continuing to criticize that the extreme valuation (often above 200x P/E) won't hold. I've received a lot of pushback for my defensive posture, but here we go. If you ever wanted to buy Palantir, now might be your time. The speculative "dumb money" (sorry for my expressive language) left the stock; capital moved to chase another hot trend—physical AI. And, Palantir finally presents a compelling value after years of waiting to an investor who is long-term-minded. Simply, patience pays dividends, always. Palantir Is Firing On All Cylinders 37.5% price decline from all-time high doesn't tell any other story, except that capital moved elsewhere, because if we measure Palantir's business using its own fundamentals (a core of my investment psychology), we can see the business is in much better shape than it has ever been. In Q1 2026 , Palantir's revenue grew by 85% to $1.63B, which is the fastest growth the firm recorded since going public back in 2020. Revenue growth in the U.S. has, for the first time, crossed the 100%-mark, up 104% year-over-year. ...

The Federal Reserve has held the federal funds rate at 3.50%-3.75% for four straight meetings. The futures market is now pricing in a greater likelihood of rate hikes, not cuts, with rates potentially hitting 4% by year-end. The annualized inflation rate in May rose to 4.2%, with inflation broadening out beyond just energy prices. Despite all that, the bull market in stocks continues. Leadership right now is still quite narrow, but value, low volatility, and dividend stocks all performed well in the first half of 2026. But the risks of inflation, geopolitics, and interest rates leave the market vulnerable to any escalation in these factors. With that in mind, here are three Vanguard equity ETFs that look well positioned to capitalize on the current environment. Continue reading

ASML Holding (NASDAQ: ASML) is one of the most important companies in the global semiconductor ecosystem. The Dutch bellwether makes advanced chipmaking equipment used by leading foundries, memory manufacturers, and integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) to print chips that power a range of applications. These advanced chips are made using ASML's extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) machines, which allow its customers to print billions of transistors onto a silicon wafer using light patterns. ASML is the only company that makes these EUV machines, which are used to fabricate advanced chips that go into artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, smartphones, personal computers (PCs), and other applications. Not surprisingly, ASML stock has jumped by an impressive 50% so far in 2026. The company is going to release its second-quarter results on July 15, and there is a good chance it will report better-than-expected results and guidance. Continue reading
