President Donald Trump imposed a 50% tariff on any country that will supply military weapons to Iran. "A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!" Trump said on Truth Social. The news comes after the U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire just hours before Trump’s deadline for escalation, with Tehran agreeing to temporarily reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Israel also agreed to the ceasefire, the White House said. Meanwhile, Tehran presented a 10-point proposal now emerging as the central framework for negotiations. In February, the U.S. had issued sanctions on more than 30 individuals, entities, and the “shadow fleet” vessels that facilitate Iran's illicit petroleum sales and ballistic missiles and weapons production, Reuters had reported. These measures target third-country firms, banks, or individuals that conduct “significant” transactions with sanctioned Iranian entities, effectively forcing them to choose between doing business with Iran or maintaining access to the U.S. market and financial system. Welcome to our guide to the commodities driving the global economy. Today, reporter Alex Longley looks at what it might take to restart oil shipping out of the Persian Gulf after a US-Iran ceasefire agreement. Energy markets have reacted to the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran as the first sign that the worst of the Middle East energy supply shock could be over . In reality, it will take time to fix. Brent crude at one point headed for its biggest drop in six years today. Natural gas and diesel prices in Europe both briefly slumped around 20%. But there was little immediate change in traffic through the Strait of Hormuz — the number of vessels transiting the critical waterway remains dramatically lower than prewar levels. In the oil market, physical barrels have been trading far higher than futures as traders price in extreme scarcity. The world’s shipowners are awaiting clarity on the situation. While several expressed optimism that ships would be able to escape the Persian Gulf, they added it was unclear what steps they would need to take to do so. They also said it would require support from the owners of cargo on board. Industry bodies have also stressed the uncertainty. Bimco, which represents almost two-thirds of the world’s seaborne freight capacity, said its members are still awaiting technical details of how transits will work. A group that represents London insurers said it doubted trade will return to normal soon. That’s just for ships trying to get out of Hormuz. There are even bigger questions about whether owners will be willing to re-enter and pick up new cargoes. “Unless the two-week window is quickly lengthened, I doubt there will be a large influx of ships into the Persian Gulf,” Bimco’s chief shipping analyst Niels Rasmussen said. “Partly because many ships have already sailed to other regions and partly because they do not want to risk being trapped after the two-week window closes.” It’s possible many of these issues will be ironed out...

In this article INTC NVDA TSM Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNT watch now VIDEO 15:18 15:18 Nvidia snaps up capacity as TSMC and Intel ramp chip packaging in the U.S. Tech An underappreciated step in the chipmaking process is poised to become the next bottleneck for artificial intelligence . Every microchip used to power artificial intelligence must be put into hardware that can interact with the outside world. But right now, almost all of this chipmaking step, known as advanced packaging, happens in Asia, and capacity is in short supply. It's now taking center stage as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. prepares to break ground on two new plants in Arizona and Elon Musk taps Intel for his ambitious custom chip plans. "It can emerge as a bottleneck very quickly if people are not making the CapEx investments proactively to account for the surge in fab output that's going to be coming in the next couple of years," said John VerWey of Georgetown University's Center for Security and Emerging Technology. In a rare interview, TSMC North America packaging solutions head Paul Rousseau told CNBC that the numbers "are growing very substantially." Its most advanced method currently in use is called Chip on Wafer on Substrate, or CoWoS, and Rousseau said it is increasing at a stunning 80% compound annual growth rate. AI giant Nvidia has reserved a majority of the most advanced capacity available at TSMC, which is the volume leader in packaging. But Intel is technologically on par with the Taiwanese giant. The U.S. chipmaker has struggled to solidify a major external customer for its chip fabrication business, but its packaging customers include Amazon and Cisco . On Tuesday, Musk also tapped Intel to package custom chips for SpaceX, xAI and Tesla at his ambitious Terafab plant planned for Texas. william87/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Co-authored by Kody's Dividends Have you ever met someone who was extremely nice and pleasant to be around but was ultimately extremely forgettable? My wife and I had an acquaintance in college whom we enjoyed spending time with, but incidentally, we routinely failed to think of them when we were making plans. We didn't have anything against them, and while we were not exceptionally close friends with them, we would spend time with them occasionally. They were someone who just seemed to fall through the cracks within our social circle. When it comes to investing, investors often struggle with this same problem. You see, we have companies we hear about regularly, and we just assume that because everyone is aware of them, they're going to be extremely overvalued or perhaps extremely unattractive as an investment at all. We would assume that because they're so well known, they will be extremely crowded companies, and the value is just not going to be there to be attractive. However, I have found that there are some companies that simply slip through the cracks of investors' minds because of those reasons, and the value remains attractive even though they're exceptionally well-known. Likely, when it comes to a company's credit rating, you ask yourself what the credit rating is by Moody's or S&P Global. Yet do you invest in those companies that have such a massive, well-known reach, or do you look right past them? A Legendary Business With a Tailwind Trifecta Moody's Q4 2025 Earnings Presentation Moody's Corporation ( MCO ) is a multifaceted business with multiple well-known segments. Readers are probably most familiar with its Moody's Investors Service or MIS segment, which forms a global duopoly alongside S&P Global ( SPGI ). Any time corporate debt is refinanced or new debt is raised, a fee is charged by these rating agencies. That comprised approximately half (53.4%) of the company's $7.72 billion in total 2025 revenue . Th...

Sundry Photography/iStock Editorial via Getty Images In the past two weeks, Gilead Sciences, Inc. ( GILD ) made several headlines by announcing acquisitions as well as collaborations that justify a closer look at the stock. In November 2025, I published my last article about Gilead Sciences and was rather bullish about the stock. In the conclusion I wrote: Although investing is always about probabilities and different scenarios, I am rather bullish about Gilead Sciences. Not only am I bullish about the stock in the long run, but I also see Gilead Sciences as being a reasonably recession-resilient pick (in case of the U.S. economy rather struggling in the next few years). However, this does not rule out the risk of a lower stock price in the next few months and quarters, which is a possibility. Nevertheless, I rather expect Gilead Sciences to break out of its corrective pattern to the upside, and I rather see higher stock prices in the coming months. Since my last article was published, Gilead Sciences increased about 11% in value (even 12.5% when including dividends) and clearly outperformed the S&P 500. The stock even climbed to an all-time high of $157 but corrected again. In the following article, I will look at the recent acquisitions in more detail and explain why I will hold on to my Gilead Sciences shares and still expect about a 10% annual return for the years to come. Fiscal 2025 Results Before we look at Gilead Sciences' acquisition in more detail and the implications this might have for the business and investors, we look at the latest results Gilead Sciences reported about two months ago, on February 10, 2026. Total revenue increased from $28,754 million in the previous year to $29,443 million in fiscal 2025, resulting in 2.4% year-over-year top-line growth. Once again, we should exclude Veklury sales, which continue to decline and were extremely high in the last few years due to COVID-19. Looking at the total product sales excluding Veklury, Gilead Scie...
