Aimee Bock ran Feeding Our Future, which had claimed it helped provide millions of meals to children in need during the coronavirus pandemic. “I understand I failed. I failed the public, my family, everyone,” Bock said in federal court. Advertisement US President Donald Trump used the fraud cases against Bock and many others to initially justify a massive surge of federal officers to the Minneapolis-St Paul area last winter, leading to a pushback by residents and the deaths of two people. “Feeding Our Future operated like a cash pipeline, open to anyone willing to submit fraudulent claims and pay kickbacks,” prosecutors said in a court filing. “The ripple effects of her actions are profound, immeasurable, and will have lasting consequences for both Minnesota and the nation.” Advertisement Bock was convicted last year of multiple counts involving conspiracy, wire fraud and bribery. She had long insisted she was innocent. Her lawyer, Kenneth Udoibok, argued for a much shorter sentence, saying Bock had provided information to investigators. He argued that Bock had been unfairly painted as the mastermind and insisted that two co-defendants were responsible for running the scams.

The US state was exercising its contractual right to acquire the property to protect taxpayer investments after VinFast failed to meet key obligations tied to the project, Attorney General Jeff Jackson said in a statement . “VinFast agreed to build a factory and create jobs for North Carolinians – it didn’t do either,” Jackson said. “When North Carolina makes a deal, we build in protection for taxpayers. VinFast broke the deal, so we’re using that protection to find a project for this site that will create jobs.” The state’s action was “about protecting taxpayers and getting the Chatham County mega-site back on the market to support future good-paying manufacturing jobs,” Governor Josh Stein said in the same statement. Among these, the Zillow Home Value Index (ZHVI) offers a seasonally adjusted measure of home values and market trends. Its "flagship" ZHVI is based on data for "all homes, middle tier, smoothed and seasonally adjusted cut," aiming to represent the typical home value rather than the median. Introduced in 2006, the ZHVI includes various segmentations by geography and housing type. Here, we focus on the flagship ZHVI, which reflects typical home values. Home values continued their upward trend in April, according to the Zillow Home Value Index. However, after adjusting for inflation, real home values dropped sharply, remaining at their lowest level in over five years. Last month's ZHVI came in at $368,198, up 0.02% from the previous month and up 0.61% from one year ago. After adjusting for inflation, the real figures are -0.51% month-over-month and -2.60% year-over-year. Zillow Home Value Index Methodology Zillow’s ZHVI is measured using monthly changes in its “Zestimates,” its proprietary home valuation model. The index is meant to be timely, comprehensive, and transparent, published three weeks after the close of a given month. Many other home value indexes are published with a significant time lag - like the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index and the FHFA House Price Index. Shares of Lam, which supplies chipmakers such as Micron Technology and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, have risen more than 75% this year as huge demand for AI chips has spurred customers to buy more tools. Lam CEO Tim Archer said in an interview that the company's strategic focus over the next two years would be to equip those tools with more sensors that generate data that can be analyzed by AI systems to spot problems and inefficiencies early. That would help its customers make more chips with fewer defects on each wafer, the dinner-plate-sized silicon disks that raw chips are printed on. Archer made the comments as Lam held a venture capital competition at its Fremont, California, headquarters where it awarded a $250,000 investment to a startup called Lightfinder. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology spinout has shrunk down a key standalone tool for measuring chips to a size and cost so the tool can be merged into an existing machine rather than requiring a separate step in the chipmaking process. "The more data you collect from the machine itself, or from the wafer, the better your models can be about predicting what's happening and starting to really react to problems in the system," Archer said.
