Sundry Photography/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Executive Summary Anyone who followed the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference will surely have noticed the slide in Seagate Technology Holdings plc ( STX ), which saw its stock plunge 10% to $712.59 . From my perspective as someone who follows the company very closely, I reread the conference's transcript, and I believe the market's overreaction to what STX's CEO said was just another example of how markets react emotionally rather than fundamentally. Many market participants began selling their holdings en masse after CEO Dave Mosley said that building new manufacturing facilities would take too long to address the immediate surge in AI-driven demand. However, the above view regarding Seagate's decision not to add fixed physical capacity but instead to invest solely into transitioning technologies (i.e., the generational leap forward in the areal density of STX's HAMR Mozaic products) is where the true power of unprecedented margin expansion lies. We'll discuss this clearly and simply in the following paragraphs. I continue to maintain that my investment thesis for STX is Strong Buy due to the fact that STX has secured its competitive position via long term contracts (LTAs) covering all nearline production through FY27. I previously wrote an article recommending a Strong Buy on the stock. Seeking Alpha With this being said today, I am writing about Seagate again, and for those of us who currently hold the stock such as myself, I believe this price drop represents a tremendous buying opportunity. Based upon my own personal trading strategy that I will outline below, there are two different entry points based upon technical analysis (a 50% increase of my current holdings and a complete doubling of my holdings if the price declines further down to my second entry point.) My target price for the stock remains $968 per share, which I believe is warranted given the company’s ability to ge...

JHVEPhoto/iStock Editorial via Getty Images L3Harris Technologies ( LHX ) is expanding production of fiber-optic tether systems designed to keep military drones and subsea platforms connected in environments where radio-frequency communications can be jammed or intercepted, according to company materials released Tuesday. The defense contractor said its tether systems provide physical fiber-optic connections between operators and unmanned systems, allowing communications to continue even in heavily contested electronic warfare environments. The systems are intended for drones, torpedoes and unmanned maritime vehicles operating in hostile territory. The announcement underscores growing Pentagon and allied military interest in hardened communications systems as electronic warfare becomes a more prominent feature of modern conflicts. For investors, the development highlights a potentially expanding market for defense companies focused on autonomous systems, drone survivability and electronic warfare resilience. It also points to continued demand for domestically manufactured defense technologies as the U.S. seeks to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers for critical military components. L3Harris ( LHX ) said its drone fiber-optic tether systems have been tested in overseas combat environments and are designed for missions exceeding 25 kilometers. The systems can transfer data at speeds significantly faster than conventional radio-frequency links while avoiding jamming and signal disruption. The company also said it has developed conversion systems that allow existing radio-controlled drones to be adapted for fiber-optic operation. The products are manufactured in Palm Bay, Florida, and comply with National Defense Authorization Act sourcing requirements. Beyond aerial drones, L3Harris ( LHX ) said its fiber-optic technology is being used in maritime and subsea applications, including the Navy’s MK-48 Mod 8 torpedo communications system. The company said multiple Navy an...

Shell Plc shareholders approved a new policy that could award larger bonuses to executive directors, moving the company closer to compensation levels at its US rivals. The vote, more than 95% in favor at Shell’s annual meeting in London on Tuesday, raises the maximum long-term share award for Chief Executive Officer Wael Sawan from 600% to 900% of salary. Chief Financial Officer Sinead Gorman ’s bonus ceiling also increases. For Europe’s largest energy company, the policy increases the potential incentives for top executives at a moment when UK boards are pushing to narrow the transatlantic pay gap. Sawan’s total compensation package could now reach more than £19 million ($25 million) in 2026, excluding pension contributions. That compares with the £13.8 million Sawan earned in 2025 — which itself was up almost 60% from 2024, his final year receiving rewards from his previous role — but remains well below recent pay awards for Exxon Mobil Corp CEO Darren Woods and Chevron Corp. ’s Mike Wirth . Among European peers, TotalEnergies SE ’s Patrick Pouyanne received roughly €10.4 million ($12 million) in his latest disclosure, while BP Plc ’s new CEO Meg O’Neill ’s maximum annual package could reach more than £12 million. Shell’s total shareholder returns have outperformed peers since Sawan took office, and the company has said the higher payout reflects that relative performance. His total compensation would have been greater without reductions linked to fatal accidents in Argentina, Malaysia and the UK. Shell said the pay change moves the CEO’s total compensation from around the 25th percentile to just below the median of its peer benchmarking group, which includes the other oil majors and large multinational companies such as AstraZeneca Plc , Siemens AG and Volkswagen AG . The board said the policy is needed to align incentives with peers active in similar geographies and industries.

cokada/E+ via Getty Images TLT is a fund which invests in U.S. Treasuries and which consists of U.S. government debt averaging 25.70 years to maturity. Generally, long-term U.S. government debt pays interest every six months. EDV is a fund consisting of zero-coupon U.S. Treasuries averaging 24.5 years to maturity. Zero-coupon bonds, unlike other U.S. Treasuries of 2 years or longer, don't pay semiannual interest. This causes these "stripped" Treasuries to be more volatile than their underlying securities. Therefore, EDV is riskier than TLT, going up more when this sector is in favor and dropping more when it is unpopular. Long-dated U.S. Treasuries and TIPS were among the biggest percentage winners of the first two major bear markets of the 21st century (1999-2003 and 2007-2009). TLT, EDV, and other U.S. Treasury exchange-traded funds did not even exist in 1999 or 2000 because investors at that time, just like in 2026, were far more excited about purchasing wildly overvalued popular tech stocks than seeking safe havens. Many funds of U.S. Treasuries weren't created until their gains during the internet bubble collapse had almost been completed. Not surprisingly, long-term U.S. Treasuries and TIPS far outperformed collapsing U.S. stocks by late 2002 and early 2003, when finally the powerful outperformance by U.S. Treasuries encouraged the introduction of numerous exchange-traded funds in this sector. If you were invested in QQQ near its March 10, 2000 peak, then you ended up losing more than 5 out of 6 dollars, including all reinvested dividends, by the time it had bottomed on October 10, 2002. In contrast, if you were invested in VUSTX or a similar fund of long-dated U.S. Treasuries or TIPS in the same year when their yields had exceeded 6%, then you would have roughly doubled your money over the same period of time. Investors Don't Want Safe Havens When Stocks Are So Popular Due To Their Outperformance In Recent Years The investing world has made as complete a tran...

That kind of performance just doesn't happen in typical exchange-traded funds (ETFs). It happens when the correctly themed fund is launched into a market where the underlying demand is huge, supply is tight, and investors are only starting to realize the opportunity. The Roundhill Memory ETF is the first fund built exclusively around memory chip companies . Unlike other semiconductor ETFs that have some memory exposure, it's a pure-play portfolio. That's a distinction that matters a lot right now. Continue reading

"Stop Hiring Humans" Billboards Are Appearing In US Cities... Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news, “Stop Hiring Humans.” Those words are now plastered on billboards from San Francisco to New York City, courtesy of a San Francisco-based startup pushing virtual AI sales representatives. The company, Artisan, markets AI agents that handle outbound sales tasks like lead generation, cold emailing, list-building, and prospecting. Their message is blunt: the era of AI employees is here. Artisan’s campaign highlights a growing trend of AI replacing human roles in sales and beyond. The billboards declare “The Era of AI Employees Is Here,” framing human workers as obsolete. Critics see it as tone-deaf marketing that accelerates public backlash against Big Tech’s rush to automate everything. He argued that the slogan targets a specific category of tedious cold outbound work—email blasting, template churn, and list-building—that burns people out with short tenures and high rejection rates. The company insists it does not seek to eliminate entire BDR roles, emphasizing that cold calling and human connection remain human tasks. Artisan also built a human dialer to complement its AI tool Ava, positioning the technology as working “alongside” people rath...
