Welcome back to Canada Daily, the newsletter on business, economics and politics from Vancouver to Montreal and beyond. If this was forwarded to you, sign up here . Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau is under pressure, and Quebec’s National Assembly has just added to it. Elected representatives passed a motion — by a vote of 92 to zero, with one abstention — demanding Rousseau’s resignation over his video following the deadly plane accident at LaGuardia Airport in New York. Rousseau delivered a somber message of condolence after the collision, which killed two pilots and injured dozens of passengers. But his statement was almost entirely in English. Air Canada is a bilingual company, with a legal obligation to provide services in both French and English, and one of the deceased pilots was a French-speaking Quebecer. As of early Thursday afternoon, more than 1,800 complaints had been received by the federal Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages. Rousseau apologized . “I am deeply saddened that my inability to speak French has diverted attention from the profound grief of the families and the great resilience of Air Canada’s employees,” he said. “Despite many lessons over several years, unfortunately, I am still unable to express myself adequately in French.” But outrage drags on in French-speaking Quebec, while many in the rest of Canada have expressed their unease since the beginning of this public relations crisis. “To be honest, I would rather have the CEO of our flagship carrier focusing his scarce time on safety and reliability than language training,” former Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said in a social media post. And if there’s one anglophone politician who’s pro-French, it’s Kenney — he took French training as a member of parliament in Ottawa and is now fluent. Paul Wells, an influential Canadian political journalist, told Radio-Canada that the controversy “raises important questions for Air Canada’s board of directors.” But, Wells added, “it’s worth...

P3 Global Intel claims that it has "quickly become the new standard in tip management for Crime Stoppers programs, [Law Enforcement Agencies], and government agencies helping to solve and prevent crimes around the world." Its software does what it says on the tin: It accepts tips from the general public and then manages conversations between law enforcement and the tipper. Many of these tips are, by their very nature, extremely sensitive, and disclosure of the tip could imperil people's lives. P3 promises on its websites that "your anonymity is protected at all times." But earlier this month, hackers calling themselves the, err, "Internet Yiff Machine" released 93GB of data that they claim was pilfered from P3's tip-taking system. Read full article Comments

Sundry Photography Cloudflare ( NET ) is likely to be a major beneficiary from the rise of artificial intelligence agents, Oppenheimer said. “We believe the internet is in the early stages of an incoming traffic boom,” analyst Param Singh wrote in a note to clients. “Agentic AI and its complementary tools are a lever that will produce a flood of data traffic, with our estimates suggesting traffic growth at >20% CAGR for 2025-2030. To pair with these higher volumes, agentic traffic should attract higher attach on both security and compute compared to normal human traffic. Our analysis visualizes the impact of the surge in agentic data for Cloudflare, which we estimate has a ~1.3x multiplier effect on revenue versus existing traffic. We believe this supports sustained >30% revenue growth beyond CY26 and for the next few years. We are highly bullish on Cloudflare's architectural position in an AI-centric world and reiterate our Outperform/$300 PT.” Cloudflare shares finished down 3.6% on Thursday but have gained nearly 20% over the past month and 80% over the past 12 months.
