China's Breakthrough Lithium Battery Could Double EV Range To 600+ Miles, Survive -94°F Temp Authored by Bojan Stojkovski via Interesting Engineering , A team of researchers in China has unveiled an all-weather electrolyte designed to boost the performance of lithium batteries across a wide range of conditions. Scientists based in Shanghai and Tianjin report that batteries built with the new hydrofluorocarbon-based electrolyte delivered more than twice the energy density of conventional designs when tested at room temperature. Fluorine-based electrolyte could improve EV and drone battery efficiency. Beyond efficiency gains, the team says the chemistry remains stable in extreme environments, with batteries continuing to operate effectively at temperatures as low as minus 94 degrees Fahrenheit. The development points to a potential path for longer-lasting, more resilient batteries suited for EVs and other demanding applications, where both energy density and reliability under stress are critical. Batteries can store up to three times more energy In a study published last month in the journal Nature , researchers outlined how hydrofluorocarbon-based electrolytes could help overcome long-standing limits in battery power and energy density. The team found that, for the same battery mass, energy storage capacity at room temperature could increase by two to three times compared to conventional designs . In turn, this suggests a viable route toward significantly more efficient lithium batteries, with implications for EVs, grid storage , and other high-demand applications, the South China Morning Post reported . The advance could significantly extend electric vehicle range, potentially increasing it from roughly 310–370 miles to about 620 miles on a single charge, the scientists noted. Beyond EVs, the technology may also enhance the performance of devices such as smartphones, drones, robots, and even spacecraft , particularly in extremely cold environments where conventional...

Earnings Call Insights: Lulu's Fashion Lounge Holdings, Inc. (LVLU) Q4 2025 Management View CEO Crystal Landsem stated that "2025 was a transformational year for Lulu's," highlighting progress in strengthening the financial foundation, driving operational efficiencies, and focusing on event dressing. Landsem noted, "Bridesmaid and special occasion dressing remained strong throughout the year with sustained demand and multiyear category growth, reinforcing our leadership position in this segment." She emphasized the wholesale business's momentum, which saw triple-digit year-over-year growth as the company expanded into major retail partners and launched an Amazon storefront in March. Landsem reported that "gross margins expanded 640 basis points to 44.3% over the prior year period, our highest fourth quarter gross margin since 2021," citing disciplined execution and strategic focus. She added that the company achieved its third consecutive quarter of positive adjusted EBITDA and noted a reduction in operating expenses and inventory. Landsem announced the appointment of Heidi Crane as permanent CFO in February and a board-approved amendment to decrease the number of authorized shares of common and preferred stock, pending shareholder approval. President & Chief Information Officer Mark Vos explained that event wear as a percentage of revenue increased to 61% in Q4 2025 and detailed efforts to reset the casual and footwear categories. Vos highlighted the company's focus on technology-driven customer engagement, including enhanced product descriptions, simplified account creation, and AI-powered review summaries. CFO Heidi Crane stated, "In the fourth quarter, net revenue was $63 million, a decrease of 5% year-over-year, driven by an 11% decrease in total orders placed, partially offset by a 6% increase in average order value." Crane also noted, "Gross margin for the quarter was 44.3%, up 640 basis points year-over-year due to a higher mix of full price sales and higher...

Mundys SpA is close to unveiling a plan to increase its stake in Channel Tunnel operator Getlink SE , people with knowledge of the matter said, in a move aimed at deepening the Italian infrastructure group’s investments in France. Rome-based Mundys, which currently holds about 15.5% of Paris-listed Getlink, could raise its stake through several steps, the people said. An announcement could come as soon as Tuesday, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information. The potential move isn’t a prelude to a takeover approach but could eventually take Mundys’ holding closer to that of French engineering group Eiffage SA , according to the people. Eiffage is Getlink’s largest investor with a stake of almost 30% and has recently upped its interest. Shares in Getlink have risen 12.5% over the last 12 months, giving the company a market value of about €9.9 billion ($11.3 billion). A representative for Mundys declined to comment, while Getlink didn’t respond to emailed requests for comment outside business hours. Getlink operates infrastructure connecting the UK to continental Europe, including passenger and freight trains through the Channel Tunnel. The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose 4% last year to €859 million, results for the period show. Formerly known as Atlantia, Mundys was taken private by buyout firm Blackstone Inc. and Edizione SpA , the holding company of the Benetton family, in 2022. The company manages motorways, airports and mobility services in more than 20 countries, according to its website . Taking a larger stake in Getlink would be part of Mundys’ push to expand in one of its key markets. France is already central to the group’s infrastructure portfolio through its airport and toll-road assets, including Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur and Sanef.

The dollar index ( DXY ), which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, was last up 0.43% to $100.58 and remains up about 2.3% for the year to date. Dollar weekly moves and key drivers: Over the past week, the index rose 0.72%, with the U.S. dollar underpinned by safe-haven demand as escalating tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, along with fading hopes for de-escalation , boosted demand for defensive assets. Graphical Representation (SeekingAlpha) Rising oil prices, concerns over a prolonged conflict, and a weaker global risk backdrop further supported the greenback, while expectations for tighter monetary policy added to its strength. Concerns over supply disruptions also intensified, with risks to key shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz adding to upward pressure on energy prices and reinforcing demand for the dollar. However, sentiment remained volatile during the period, with intermittent optimism around diplomatic progress briefly weighing on the currency, highlighting a market environment shaped by conflicting signals on the trajectory of the conflict and its broader economic impact. U.S. Treasury yields declined overall, with the 10-year Treasury yield ( US10Y ) fell two basis points to 4.36% over the week, while the 2-year yield ( US2Y ) slipped eight basis points to 3.84%. Australia’s central bank said it’s impossible to confidently predict the path for policy after raising interest rates for a second time this year as a surge in oil prices from the Middle East war fans inflation risks. The Reserve Bank saw a risk that inflation would overshoot its target range for a “prolonged period,” minutes of its March 16-17 meeting showed, after it raised the cash rate to 4.1%. Board members discussed the case to leave policy unchanged but decided that the arguments for a hike were “stronger,” according to the record of the meeting released in Sydney on Tuesday. RBA board members said that “it was not possible to predict the future path for the cash rate target with any confidence, given the high degree of uncertainty around the breadth and duration of the current conflict in the Middle East.” The minutes showed that all members had agreed that a further tightening in monetary policy was needed, though a minority of four believed a hike could wait until there was more evidence that demand continued to exceed supply. “The rise in oil prices had further increased the risk that inflation would remain above target for a prolonged period,” the minutes showed. Staff members shared a simple estimate with board members that the direct effect via petrol prices of oil remaining around $100 a barrel would on its own lift headline inflation in Australia to around 5% in the June quarter from a year ago. That’s a three quarter of a percentage point higher than its February forecast and well above the midpoint of the RBA’s 2-3% target range. “The case to increase the cash rate target at the current meeting was founded on a view that the risk that inflation may not return to target within a reasonable timeframe had increased enough to warrant an immediate response,” the minutes showed. While the RBA’s March meeting took place after the US-Israeli war on Iran had begun, the conflict has since broadened, with Tehran’s proxies launching attacks on American allies ...
