The Left Is Baffled - But Still Repulsed - By The White Working Class Authored by Victor Davis Hanson via American Greatness, After failing to win Congress and the presidency in 2024, the Democrats conducted an internal postmortem of what went wrong. While they predictably did not divulge the full results, everyone knew what they had found. Their obsessions with the low side of 30/70 issues had especially alienated Democrats from white middle- and working-class voters. Yet middle-class whites still comprise about 40–50 percent of the population and are perhaps overrepresented in voter turnout. Democrats realize that their fixations on biological males competing in women’s sports, open borders and millions of illegal entries, radical green agendas, DEI-driven racial essentialism, and massive government entitlements rife with fraud have alienated the middle classes in general and white middle- and working-class voters in particular. But since Democrat ideologues cannot shed their ideological straitjackets, they have instead tried to finesse the very problem that cost them the 2024 election. They recall, in particular, the successful blueprint that won them the 2020 election. During that campaign, Joe Biden largely remained out of public view, hiding in his basement, while his handlers reconstructed him as a kind of waxen effigy of “good ol’ Joe from Scranton,” a throwback to the 1970s. Once the cognitively diminished Biden was elected, his hard-left, Obama-era operatives behind that ossified, working-man veneer enacted the most radical four-year agenda in modern American history. On the one hand, Democrats claim they will field candidates who can at least playact as good ol’ boy farmers and salt-of-the-earth welders. The 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate, Humpty Dumpty lookalike Tim Walz, talked incessantly about driving a pickup truck. He assured us he could change its oil and tried to portray himself as a genuine hunter. Yet these claims often came across ...

Olga Yastremska/iStock via Getty Images The last time I spoke about Greenwich LifeSciences ( GLSI ) it was with respect to a Seeking Alpha article entitled " Greenwich LifeSciences: Halting Of Breast Cancer Recurrence With GLSI-100 ." With respect to this article, I mentioned that the company was in the process of advancing its phase 3 FLAMINGO-01 study using GLSI-100 for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer patients who had residual disease or high-risk pathologic complete response [PCR] at surgery and who had completed both neoadjuvant and postoperative adjuvant trastuzumab-based regimens. The company is still in the process of running this phase 3 FLAMINGO-01 study using this immunotherapy candidate to treat these HER2-positive breast cancer patients. However, the reason why I believe it is important to go over this company again is because it had two major updates relating to the development of this specific program. The first of which is that it released open-label data from the phase 3 FLAMINGO-01 study, which showed that non-HLA-A*02 HER2-positive breast cancer patients had an 80% reduction in recurrence rate. One item to mention here is that this open-label study data was achieved while keeping this study phase 3 study blind. Secondly, there were protocol changes with the FDA that allowed the company to be able to go after both HLA-A*02 and non-HLA-A*02 patients as part of this late-stage trial. This brings me to the next positive update from this program, which is that the company was able to file new patent claims based on this statistically significant open-label immune response and recurrence data. Should the patent claims be upheld in court, then the company believes that it could be able to have patent protection of GLSI-100 through 2045. The key item here is that it would be able to target HER2-positive breast cancer patients regardless of HLA type [that is, to also go after non-HLA-A*02 patients]. With the key phase 3 FLAMINGO-01 study using ...

alexsl/iStock via Getty Images I believe that the Invesco S&P 500 Concentrated QVM ETF ( QVMT ), which has changed its strategy and was renamed in February, could be a worthy candidate for multifactor investors' short list of vehicles. However, I consider its outperformance versus the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF ( IVV ) this year unlikely. I should acknowledge though that as President Donald Trump's deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is approaching , the escalation scenario still cannot be called entirely impossible. And if equities are to crater and the oil price is to march even higher, low beta and high earnings yield of the QVMT portfolio should immunize it from a too-deep maximum drawdown (that is to say, I expect it to capture less than 90% of IVV's downside in this scenario). However, I still hope that there is a possibility that a solution for de-escalation will be found. This, in turn, will topple bears' entire thesis, which rests on supply chain disruption, soaring oil prices, higher inflation, and the potential for higher interest rates, thus opening the door for the S&P 500's swift recovery (and, hopefully, charting its route to 7,550 ). In these conditions, while value and low volatility could have a slight advantage tactically depending on the developments surrounding the conflict, I expect growth and GARP factors to ultimately retake leadership. Overall, while QVMT has multiple advantages and its strategy makes a lot of sense, I believe it deserves a Hold rating. QVMT Strategy And Portfolio First and foremost, as we know from the Invesco website , on February 23, a meaningful strategy change was implemented: Effective February 23, 2026, the Invesco S&P 500 Enhanced Value ETF was renamed to The Invesco S&P 500 Concentrated QVM ETF. As a result, the fund’s ticker changed to QVMT and the Underlying index changed from the S&P 500 Enhanced Value Index to the S&P Quality, Value, and Momentum Multi-factor Index. So even though I assessed the fund in Januar...

Gross margin was 61.9% compared to 62.1% in Q1 2025 primarily due to the impact of tariffs, partially offset by price increases and less promotional activity. Selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses were $872 million compared to $749 million in Q1 2025. Adjusted SG&A expenses were up 15.7% to $861 million compared to $744 million last year primarily due to the planned higher advertising costs in connection with the launch of the Behind Every Original campaign, the higher-than-expected sales volume and foreign exchange. Interest and other income (expense), net, which includes foreign exchange gains and losses, were income of $30 million and expenses of $15 million in the aggregate in Q1 2026 and Q1 2025, respectively. Investors wary of being wrong-footed by twists in the Iran war are trading stocks at a record pace, one measure shows, illustrating how the conflict has ramped up uncertainty among market participants. With markets hanging on every development in the Middle East and the often unpredictable missives of President Donald Trump, gauges of trading volume have spiked . One such metric, the daily turnover in the State Street SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust , has breached $60 billion — a level seen as a “freak out” indicator by Bloomberg Intelligence strategists — 29 times this year. That new record compares to 28 times in all of 2025, according to BI’s Athanasios Psarofagis . Markets were on edge again Tuesday, after Trump threatened to wipe out Iran’s “whole civilization” and continued attacks on the country’s main oil export facility, ratcheting up pressure on Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The S&P 500 Index has fallen some 5.2% from its all-time high and recently marked its worst quarter since 2022, while prices for Brent crude are up around 75% year to date. Read more: Why Trump’s Iran Threats Raise War Crime Concerns “President Trump enjoys maximum uncertainty as a negotiating strategy, which is at odds with the market’s dislike of uncertainty,” said Sameer Samana , head of global equities and real assets at Wells Fargo Investment Institute. “We see this lasting throughout the entirety of his presidency as he negotiates and renegotiates a variety of situations and agreements and markets would be well to keep that in mind.” With little letup in the news flow, the risk of fresh market-moving events hitting stocks has made it hard for traders to simply sit on the sidelines, according to BCA Research’s Doug Peta . “Uncertainty is extremely elevated because the US could exit the conflict or significantly escalate it in the time it takes to retweet a Truth Social post and because the disparity of outcomes is so wide,” he said. At the same time, the gyrations appear to be tak...

Macro hedge funds struggled in March as the war in the Middle East upended inflation expectations, leading to steep losses at many of the industry’s largest firms. Said Haidar ’s Jupiter Fund lost about 12% in March, paring quarterly gains to 13.4%, according to an investor letter seen by Bloomberg News. The Brevan Howard Master Fund declined 6.6% for the worst monthly loss in its two-decade-plus history, people with knowledge of the matter said, asking not to be identified discussing the returns. Diego Megia ’s Taula Capital Management lost 8.6%, bringing year to date losses to 7.6%, other people said. Representatives for Haidar, Brevan Howard and Taula each declined to comment. Hedge funds betting on macroeconomic trends enjoyed a strong start to the year, with inflation and rates continuing a downward path. That came to an abrupt halt at the end of February when Iran’s response to US and Israeli attacks caused major disruption to oil and gas flows in the Middle East, sending inflation and interest rate expectations soaring. European rates markets saw historic volatility in March as traders struggled to asses the impact of the energy price spike and potential hit to growth in the face of contradictory signals about the potential length and breath of the conflict. It’s not clear why Haidar lost money in March. His high-octane, highly leveraged fund was heavily positioned in commodities and equities markets as of the end of February, with little exposure in FX, according to an investor letter seen by Bloomberg News. Haidar also appeared to preempt the market turmoil, stating then that the firm’s view was that “central banks will prioritize controlling inflation over stimulating growth” which would spur “a global growth slowdown that will be felt most acutely outside of the US.” By contrast quantitative hedge funds were a rare bright spot. French quant firm Capital Fund Management gained 6% over the month in its two largest funds, other people said, while Renaissance...

Management also outlined several strategies for reducing cash burn, a long-time area of concern. With a new CEO at the helm, big promises are being made about Plug Power's future. But what exactly should investors expect over the next 10 years? The answer might surprise you. Plug Power primarily makes its revenue by designing, manufacturing, and selling hydrogen fuel systems. Hydrogen fuel has many potential benefits. According to the Department of Energy: Continue reading
