Israeli Army Seizing 'Strategic Positions' Deep Into Lebanon, North Of Litani River Within a day after unleashing a devastating flurry of Monday airstrikes on Lebanon, Israeli ground forces have aggressively expanded the theater of operations inside Lebanon, violating a status quo by sending IDF ground troops across the "Yellow Line" which was established at the inception of the ceasefire. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Tuesday that Israel is "intensifying operations" in Lebanon by taking strategic positions deeper into the country with a wave of offensives north of the Litani River . IDF has systematically destroyed bridges across south Lebanon, via Reuters. Officially, Tel Aviv is justifying the deep territorial grab as a "defensive" counter-measure against persistent Hezbollah drone strikes on occupation forces as well as communities in northern Israel. "We are intensifying our operations in Lebanon. The IDF is operating with significant forces on the ground and taking control of strategically dominant positions. We are reinforcing the security buffer zone in order to protect the communities of northern Israel ," Netanyahu has said in a fresh video released by his office. "At the same time, we are carrying out a major national effort to advance creative and innovative solutions against explosive drones ," he added, following a meeting with Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir in Tel Aviv. The ground offensive comes as hawkish Israeli cabinet members openly lobby for a substantial escalation of the war and permanent occupations deeper into sovereign Lebanese territory. The high-ranking command structure apparently operates under the assumption that it can successfully force a 12 km buffer zone between Hezbollah and the Blue Line border (the 75-mile demarcation line established by the United Nations in June 2000). Local Israeli media outlets are already questioning the strategic utility of the entire operation, pointi...

John M. Chase/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Investment Thesis First and foremost, I am initiating coverage on Rocket Lab Corporation ( RKLB ) by rating the stock a Buy. The reason for this is that I believe the company is sitting at the center of three major secular waves. The first one is the upcoming SpaceX ( SPCX ) IPO. The reason I say this is that SPCX could be one of the most important public-market events for the space sector. And this is because SpaceX would give investors a clear valuation benchmark for launch, satellite infrastructure, reusable rockets, and other things. In my view, I think investors struggle with how to value space companies because the sector is young, capital-intensive, and still moving from promise to profitability. The second reason is AI-driven demand for data infrastructure in Orbit. In most cases, AI is discussed through chips, GPUs, data centers, power demand, and networking equipment. In my opinion, that makes sense. But also, AI needs more data, better data, faster data, and more secure data. A growing portion of that data is expected to come from satellites. Earth observation, synthetic aperture radar, weather intelligence, etc., all become more valuable when AI can process them in near real time. This is why I believe that space-based infrastructure is becoming part of the supply chain. It is definitely not as obvious as chips or GPUs, but it is still part of the same ecosystem. And the third wave is government demand for sovereign space capability. I say this because governments are increasingly treating space as strategic infrastructure for national security, missile tracking, hypersonic testing, and secure communications. That said, RKLB fits well in the three waves. Novaspace: World total government space expenditures (2010-2028), in billion USD First is that RKLB does not need to become SPCX for my thesis to work. My thoughts are that if investors start assigning higher multiples to companies with launch capabilities...

Patrick T. Fallon | AFP | Getty Images Energy inflation tied to the war in Iran has lasted longer than expected, creating a "stagflationary shock" for Asian economies, Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee said Thursday. Speaking to CNBC's Kaori Enjoji at the Bank of Japan-IMES Conference, Goolsbee said that initial estimates in the futures markets had expected energy prices to be "a lot lower" than current levels. While oil prices have eased recently on signs of progress in U.S.-Iran peace talks, prices remain well above levels seen before the war. Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, gained over 1.81% to $96 per barrel, while the West Texas Intermediate futures gained 1.71% to $90.21 per barrel. That compares with $72 price for Brent, and $67.02 for WTI the day before the U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran. Goolsbee also sounded a warning for Asian economies, saying that, because they are energy importers, "it's more just a stagflationary shock of the old-fashioned variety." watch now VIDEO 17:14 17:14 Watch CNBC's full interview with Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee Squawk Box Asia This is breaking news, please check back for updates. Wilmar International Ltd. fell the most in almost six years after the Indonesian government named the palm oil titan as one of the companies being probed for suspected export abuses. Shares traded in Singapore slid as much as 11% on Thursday, the biggest intraday drop since 2020, before paring losses to trade at S$3.45 a piece by 9.45 a.m. local time. Trading volume jumped to nine times the 20-day average of 78,988 shares for this time of day. Wilmar, the world’s biggest palm oil refiner with plantations in Indonesia, and Musim Mas Group , are among 10 palm producers being investigated for suspected under-invoicing and transfer pricing of exports, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday. Those practices were among the reasons President Prabowo Subianto gave last week when he said the government would take greater control of the country’s key commodity exports. Read More: Indonesia Probes Major Palm Oil Companies on Export Price Issues The fresh probe spells more challenges for Wilmar in Indonesia. The company last year had to relinquish a 12 trillion rupiah deposit — valued at the time at $729 million — to the Attorney General’s Office as part of a separate probe related to palm oil exports. Wilmar said it is preparing to release a statement later on Thursday to address the matter. Prabowo’s announcement has rattled investors and whipsawed the palm market, with industry participants desperate for more clarity on how the new export framework would work. Indonesian state-linked crude palm oil tenders, which serve as a benchmark for domestic prices and export offers, have ground to a halt since the announcement, while several processors have avoiding buying fruit from small farmers while they wait for more clarity.
