Investors might want to bet on CareTrust REIT (CTRE), as it has been recently upgraded to a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). This upgrade primarily reflects an upward trend in earnings estimates, which is one of the most powerful forces impacting stock prices. The Zacks rating relies solely on a company's changing earnings picture. It tracks EPS estimates for the current and following years from the sell-side analysts covering the stock through a consensus measure -- the Zacks Consensus Estimate. The power of a changing earnings picture in determining near-term stock price movements makes the Zacks rating system highly useful for individual investors, since it can be difficult to make decisions based on rating upgrades by Wall Street analysts. These are mostly driven by subjective factors that are hard to see and measure in real time. As such, the Zacks rating upgrade for CareTrust REIT is essentially a positive comment on its earnings outlook that could have a favorable impact on its stock price. Most Powerful Force Impacting Stock Prices The change in a company's future earnings potential, as reflected in earnings estimate revisions, has proven to be strongly correlated with the near-term price movement of its stock. The influence of institutional investors has a partial contribution to this relationship, as these big professionals use earnings and earnings estimates to calculate the fair value of a company's shares. An increase or decrease in earnings estimates in their valuation models simply results in higher or lower fair value for a stock, and institutional investors typically buy or sell it. Their transaction of large amounts of shares then leads to price movement for the stock. Fundamentally speaking, rising earnings estimates and the consequent rating upgrade for CareTrust REIT imply an improvement in the company's underlying business. Investors should show their appreciation for this improving business trend by pushing the stock higher. Harnessing the Power of Earnin...

Europeans are in for a new round of sticker shock. Inflation came in hot today across the continent’s four biggest economies, pointing to higher costs for debt, energy and food. Polls show companies are already planning to pass higher prices on to consumers . Failure to resolve the war on Iran, along with depleted fuel stocks and even higher inflation expectations point to a need for monetary action to avert a wage-price spiral, the European Central Bank’s Fabio Panetta said . Other economists added that consumers are in store for a severe food-price shock because of extreme weather caused by climate change . With a massive selloff in the bond market and rates rising all over the world, some people are warning of a perfect storm gathering for the world economy. Harvard economics professor Gita Gopinath said in an interview she sees a confluence of demographics, high levels of public debt, and gigantic AI capital needs combining to boost inflation everywhere. Several vessels transiting the passage separating Iran from Oman have been attacked in recent days, underscoring the “very real” risks that remain for shipowners in the Persian Gulf, Chevron Chief Executive Officer Mike Wirth said. Oil prices nevertheless dropped to a six-week low as the traders banked on an agreement to extend a ceasefire by 60 days. Medicare beneficiaries have access to GLP-1 medications to treat specific conditions, such as type 2 diabetes. But if you're just interested in these drugs to help you lose weight, these same prescriptions can be a lot more expensive. Unfortunately, your Part D plan won't cover these drugs for weight loss anytime soon. But a new Medicare program set to take effect in a few weeks could help seniors access these weight-loss medications at a more affordable price. The GLP-1 Bridge program will begin in July Back in December, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced a new program designed to bring GLP-1 coverage for weight loss to Part D plans in 2027. It would've given each Part D plan administrator the option to cover these medications if they wanted to, but unfortunately, it has been delayed indefinitely. It's not all bad news, though. There's a new GLP-1 Bridge program set to take effect in July. Initially expected to last only six months, it has now been extended through the end of 2027. This program will enable Medicare beneficiaries to obtain coverage for GLP-1s for weight loss, provided their doctor prescribes a qualifying medication and submits a prior authorization form. This operates outside of your Medicare Part D plan, so any money spent on GLP-1s for weight loss will not count toward your Part D plan out-of-pocket maximum. This could increase your retirement healthcare costs for the year. If you have any questions about how this program will work, contact the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for more information. Other ways to get GLP-1 coverage for weight loss Medicare beneficiaries with other health insurance may be able to get GLP-1 coverage for weight loss through another policy. Check with your health insurer to learn whether it covers these medications and what your out-of-pocket costs could be. If you have no other option but to pay for these medications on your own, check with different pharmacies to see whether there's any di...

NATO Condemns Russia After Drone Smashes Into Romanian Apartments: 'Grave Escalation' A Russian overnight attack on Ukraine reportedly involved an errant drone crashing into a 10-story apartment block in neighboring Romania , which is a member of NATO. "We condemn Russia's recklessness, and NATO will continue to strengthen our defenses against all threats, including drones," a NATO spokesperson said on X, in an initial reaction. Romanian Department for Emergency Situations handout, via Reuters Romanian officials described that during the Russian military's assault on Ukraine, which has basically become nightly at this point, a Russian drone slammed into the residential building in the southeastern city of Galati - resulting in an explosion and a fire that injured two people . The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry condemned the "grave and irresponsible escalation from Russia" while further declaring it has issued formal request for more anti-drone defense measures from NATO. "Romania has informed allies and NATO's secretary-general about the circumstances and requested measures to accelerate the transfer of anti-drone capabilities to Romania ," the ministry said. While Romania and other countries which border Ukraine have witnessed 'errant' drones and missiles come across the border before, this is the first time Romania in particular has suffered casualties as a result of a projectile hitting a densely populated city or area. Romania has said that drone fragments have fallen on its territory several of dozens of times - the vast majority or nearly all of these happening without injury or serious incident. Reuters details that "Romania's emergency response agency said on Friday a fire broke out in a 10th floor apartment after the drone struck the building's roof and exploded." The report indicated that "Two people were receiving medical treatment on site, it said, adding 70 people had evacuated." The Kremlin has denied that Russian forces were behind the incident, wh...

MediaTek client passes TSMC for Intel DECISIONMAKING: While the majority of chips still use TSMC’s CoWoS technology, the unnamed client potentially favored the cost and capacity benefits of Intel’s EMIB By Lisa Wang / Staff Reporter MediaTek Inc (聯發科) yesterday revealed that a data center client opted for Intel Corp’s advanced packaging technology to build an in-house customized artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator, marking the first adoption of the technology in MediaTek’s customized chip design portfolio. Mediatek did not disclose the customer’s name, but analysts said the company is designing a tensor process unit — an AI application-specific IC (ASIC) — for Google. The cloud services provider prefers Intel’s embedded multi-die interconnect bridge technology (EMIB) over the chip-on-wafer-on-substrate (CoWoS) technology offered by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 台積電), given substantial cost savings and capacity availability, analysts said. MediaTek Inc president Joe Chen, right, and co chief operating officer David Ku attend a pre-Computex media and investors’ gathering in Taipei yesterday. Photo: Lisa Wang, Taipei Times “Since this is a customized chip, there are a variety of choices in terms of vendors. The customer might have taken all factors into consideration [before making the decision],” MediaTek co chief operational officer David Ku (顧大為) told reporters in Taipei yesterday. However, the majority of chips still utilize TSMC’s CoWoS technology, Ku said. The ASIC business is emerging as a new growth engine for the company, the world’s biggest mobile chip supplier, as the company expects it to contribute US$2 billion in revenue this year and multiple billion US dollars next year, attributable to acceleration in AI accelerator demand. TSMC is a long-standing close foundry partner of MediaTek, MediaTek vice chairman and chief executive officer Rick Tsai (蔡力行) said in response to a shareholder’s question about the possibility of utilizing Intel’...

matejmo Allied Gold ( AAUC ) ( AAUC:CA ) 5.6% after a report that the company's $4 billion sale to China's Zijin Mining ( ZIJMY ) is facing delays due to opposition from regulators in Beijing. The deal spread on Friday widened to $7, the most since the $44 a share deal was announced in January. China's regulator, the National Development and Reform Commission, has questioned the premium Zijin is paying as well as the risks associated with Allied’s gold mine in Mali, according to a Financial Times report on Friday, which cited people familiar with the matter. A delay in China's regulatory approval has become a big issue, with some questioning if the deal will close as planned, according to the FT report. The original agreement had a deadline of Friday, which can be extended if both sides agree. “There is strong industrial and commercial logic for this transaction, and both parties continue to work diligently towards closing," an Allied spokesperson told the FT. Late last month, Allied Gold ( AAUC ) confirmed the normal course conduct of business at its operating mines in Mali amid reports of conflict in the country. Zijin Mining ( ZIJMF ) ( ZIJMY ) agreed to buy Allied Gold ( AAUC ) for ~C$5.5B (US$4B) in cash in January. In this article BTC.CM= ETH.CM= Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNT Cheng Xin | Getty Images News | Getty Images Prediction markets giant Kalshi announced Friday it plans to launch perpetual futures contracts, starting with crypto perpetuals. They will give U.S. traders a regulated alternative to offshore platforms that have dominated this market. Perpetual futures, or "perps," are futures-style contracts with no fixed expiration date. Traders do not have to keep rolling from one dated contract into the next. Instead, the contracts are designed to track the price of the underlying asset continuously, with funding payments keeping the perp price aligned with the market. For instance, a crypto payments company or fund manager with exposure to bitcoin could use a regulated perpetual contract to hedge price risk without constantly managing contract expirations. If a firm expects to receive bitcoin next week, it could short a BTC perpetual to offset the risk that bitcoin falls before the payment is converted or booked. A more speculative trader could use the same product to make a bullish or bearish bet without picking an expiration date. Perps have become one of crypto's major trading tools. Kalshi said offshore perpetuals grew from $28 trillion in annual volume in 2023 to more than $90 trillion in 2025. It's a massive market, but one U.S. institutions have often had to access indirectly or through offshore platforms. Perpetual futures are subject to regulatory approval. Kalshi said the products will be offered under the supervision of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Polymarket too is pushing into 24/7 long-short trading with its own perps offering. These companies are looking beyond elections, sports, macro data or one-off event contracts. Kalshi is leaning on regulation as the differentiator. The company said funding rates will be charged every eight hours and visible in transaction history. It added that agricultural commodity perpetuals will no...

An image of the Snowflake logo on a corporate office_ Image by Grand Warszawski via Shutterstock_ Snowflake (SNOW) stock charged higher on Thursday after the cloud data company announced a multi-year strategic infrastructure deal with Amazon (AMZN). According to SNOW’s press release, it has committed to spending $6 billion on Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the next five years, helping joint customers worldwide build and deploy AI faster and more securely. Snowflake stock has been a blockbuster investment in recent months, having soared roughly 100% since early April. What the Amazon Deal Means for Snowflake Stock The aforementioned commitment includes the use of Amazon’s custom “Graviton” processors and other chips to power AI and agentic applications. As artificial intelligence shifts toward agentic workloads, CPU usage is accelerating rapidly alongside GPU demand. SNOW shares rallied on the announcement because locking in access to AMZN’s more affordable custom silicon would likely help the company grow its margins in the long run. Meanwhile, a commitment of this size also keeps Amazon deeply incentivized to push Snowflake through the AWS Marketplace, which may strengthen its reach and lower its customer acquisition costs. All in all, the Amazon partnership “de-risks” Snowflake’s infrastructure roadmap; it offers supply certainty at scale just as enterprise AI consumption is inflecting upward. Why SNOW Shares Are Worth Buying After Q1 Earnings Beyond the AWS deal, SNOW’s underlying business fundamentals are arguably the strongest they have been in years. Net revenue retention (NRR) improved to 126% in Q1 after three straight quarters at 125%, giving Snowflake shares bulls a clean signal that customer expansion may be stabilizing. Remaining performance obligations (RPO) also went up another 38% in the first quarter to $9.21 billion, a forward-demand signal that contracted revenue is not slowing. More importantly, Cortex Code is now active across 7,100+ accounts, an...

American auto manufacturers may be forced to increase the percentage of vehicles that are domestically assembled if the White House is successful in enforcing new rules within the trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Under the terms of the current U.S., Mexico, Canada Agreement (USMCA) – enacted during the first Trump Administration—U.S. vehicles are exempt from most import tariffs if at least 75% of the components are sourced from North American suppliers. The Trump Administration now wants to make 50% of those components sourced from American suppliers, as well as bump up the 75% threshold to 82%, according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal. Non-compliant vehicles currently face a 25% import tariff. Automakers will likely push back on any alterations to USMCA, arguing that increasing the threshold of domestic sourcing will lead to production delays and higher auto prices for consumers, along with making affordably priced vehicles too expensive to make in the U.S. General Motors ( GM ) CEO Mary Barra cautioned that stiffer regional content requirements will harm U.S. competitiveness and inconsistency in U.S. trade policies makes capital investments challenging. “I need clarity, and then I need consistency,” Barra said, noting that automotive supply chains can’t be redesigned overnight. Automakers fear an accelerated rollout of changes to USMCA thresholds. Manufacturers typically allocate five to six years to redesign production lines and adjust supply chains. “Everything can be moved over time, but we also have to do it effectively, and we have to do it in a manner where we’re still competitive globally,” Barra added. A study of analyst recommendations at the major brokerages shows that Gerdau S.A. (Symbol: GGB) is the #36 broker analyst pick, on average, out of the 50 stocks making up the Metals Channel Global Mining Titans Index , according to Metals Channel . The Metals Channel Global Mining Titans Index is comprised of the top fifty global leaders from the metals and mining sector. The companies listed in the Metals Channel Global Mining Titans Index are not fixed, but instead variable — updating on a continuous basis to reflect the changing market environment with respect to commodity prices, government policy and market volatility. In forming this rank, the analyst opinions from the major brokerage houses were tallied, and averaged; then, the underlying components of the Metals Channel Global Mining Titans Index were ranked according to those averages. Investors often interpret analyst opinions from different angles — when companies have a low rank among analysts, it isn't necessarily the case that investors should conclude that the stock will perform poorly. It can, of course, but a bullish investor could also take the contrarian angle and read into the data that there is lots of room for upside because the stock is so out of favor. GGB operates in the Non-Precious Metals & Non-Metallic Mining sector, among companies like Southern Copper Corp (SCCO) which is down about 0.9% today, and Howmet Aerospace Inc (HWM) trading lower by about 0.7%.
