CNBC OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is meeting with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, including officials involved with the executive order on artificial intelligence that President Donald Trump signed this week. Altman will meet with members of the Trump administration at the White House, according to an OpenAI spokesperson. He will also sit down with Republican and Democratic members of Congress, including House Speaker Mike Johnson , R-La., and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., their representatives confirmed to CNBC. Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order asking AI companies to voluntarily provide the government access to their models for up to 30 days before their release. The order is thin on specific details, but executives from leading AI companies, including Altman, voiced their support on social media. "The U.S. should lead on AI by continuing to develop the very best models, making sure they're safe, and getting cyber tools into the hands of trusted defenders," Altman wrote in a post on X . Ever since SpaceX released its registration statement, revealing key financials, investors have gone back and forth about the company’s valuation, which media outlets expect to be in the range of $1.75 trillion to $2 trillion. Now, one Wall Street analyst is suggesting that the company’s initial public offering significantly overvalues the company. In a recent research note, Morningstar analyst Nicolas Owens said his team thinks the company is only worth about $780 billion, implying a 55% lower valuation from $1.75 trillion. Continue reading

Poland’s central bank views current interest rate levels as “high enough” to protect price stability amid a spike in global energy costs that’s gradually feeding domestic inflation, Governor Adam Glapinski said. Speaking a day after Glapinski’s 10-member Monetary Policy Council kept its benchmark on hold for a third-straight month at 3.75% , the governor said that there were no reasons to discuss rate changes, especially after the inflation rate unexpectedly declined in May. “The Council believes that the current interest rate level is appropriate,” Glapinski said at his monthly news conference on Wednesday. Rates are “sufficiently high to stabilize inflation under current conditions, and there is no reason to change them or even discuss changes.” The comments mark a retreat from a more hawkish tone set by Polish policymakers in past months. When discussing the May inflation data, Glapinski told reporters that “it’s hard to interpret this as anything other than a factor that reduces the likelihood of a rate hike.” Traders had priced in as much as 74 basis points in tightening since the start of the Iran war, according to derivatives known as forward-rate agreements , as higher energy costs stoked by conflict in the Middle East revive Polish inflation. On Wednesday, 3x6-month FRAs traded 38 basis points above interbank levels reflected in the 3-month Wibor rate. The MPC cut the benchmark by a total of 200 basis points in the 10 months to this March amid a sharp fall in price growth. Inflation stood at 2.1% before the Iran conflict began and at 3.1% in May — still within the policymakers’ target of 2.5%, plus/minus one percentage point.

quantic69/iStock via Getty Images Thesis Dell Technologies ( DELL ) has moved beyond being labeled the "Legacy PC Company." Today's bull thesis on Dell is that it will develop into one of the major industrial-scale integrators of AI infrastructure and that last quarter's results are showing this transition is no longer theory. Dell isn't only benefiting from the one-time AI server spike. Dell is turning AI demand into backlog, revenue, operating leverage, cash flow, and shareholder returns in an accelerating fashion and, in so doing, demonstrates the possibility for a structurally elevated earnings base. I believe Dell should remain rated a buy, even with the recent sharp run-up in the stock price, since I believe the markets have yet to fully appreciate how durable Dell's position will be as enterprises, sovereign customers (i.e., governments), new cloud providers (neoclouds), and other large organizations begin to migrate their AI experimental efforts into full production. Q1 FY27 investment-thesis slide (Dell Technologies Q1 FY27 Performance Review) The Quarter That Changed The Narrative Dell's financial performance for its first quarter FY2027 was superior to prior years. Dell reported its highest-ever quarterly sales, with revenue reaching $43.8 billion , as well as an increase of 88% compared to last year. Additionally, the company saw GAAP diluted EPS reach $5.24 and non-GAAP diluted EPS reach $4.86. The cash generated by Dell from operations exceeded all previous first quarters, with a total of $4.1 billion. While these were clearly "better than expected" results, it is also clear the amounts are sufficient to completely revise investor perception regarding Dell's potential for future profitability. While there were many positive aspects of Dell's reporting, one area stands out above others as the most significant. Specifically, the AI-Optimized Servers category had sales totaling $16.1 billion during this quarter, which represents a year-over-year growth ra...

winhorse/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Following our last update on DiDi Global ( DIDIY ), Short-Term Noise, Long-Term Upside Intact , we believe the recently released Q1 results (02/06/2026) provide further evidence supporting our investment thesis (China Mobility segment as a cash cow to support the company's international growth initiatives in Brazil and Mexico). DiDi management is prioritizing long-term market leadership over short-term profitability. Given a solid cash position, autonomous driving, and robotaxi upside, we reiterated a strong buy recommendation. After the release, DiDi shares were up >5%; however, since our last update (end-March 2026), we are down by almost 7% (Fig. 1). Mare Ev. Lab Rating Update Fig 1 Q1 Results The company delivered a solid top-line performance in Q1 2026. DiDi's total turnover reached RMB 58.7 billion, representing approximately 10% growth compared with Q1 2025. Sales were supported by China mobility, with transactions up 9.9% and Platform Sales up 22.2%. At the same time, DiDi was favored by International expansion, with segment sales up 59.5% year over year (+49.3% on a constant currency basis - Fig. 2). These results were backed by growth in food delivery and a higher average order value. The company's core mobility platform in China remained the primary earnings contributor; however, despite the top-line sales increasing in the International segment, earnings moved into negative territory due to higher investment. In aggregate, DiDi's adjusted EBITDA reached RMB 0.2 billion, versus RMB 2.4 billion in Q1 2025. Going down to the P&L, the company reported a net loss of RMB 1.2 billion for the quarter, compared with a net profit of RMB 2.4 billion in Q1 2025. DiDi Q1 Financials in a Snap Fig 2 Why Are We Positive? Key support for our investment thesis is that DiDi’s core domestic mobility franchise remains solid, with China Mobility transactions up 8.9%, and remains the main driver of the stock’s earnings narrative.
